Shinobi Legends Staff
« on: August 17, 2010, 03:53:53 AM »

WARNING: THIS TOPIC IS BASED UPON ACTIVITY WITHIN SL | NO OFFENSE IS MEANT TO BE TAKEN
CAUTION: OP SUBJECT TO BE APPENDED

First, I do not mean to offend anybody in this topic. If you take offense, then I apologize. It is no secret that activity on ShinobiLegends.com has plummeted and has yet to cease. While I accept this (as do many others), I do not believe it is right for Moderators, or Staff Members, in any game to be as inactive as many are currently. Yes, I acknowledge that everybody has a life outside of the virtual world, but it is a person's responsibility to be continuously active if they are given the title of a Staff Member. Granted, not all of the current SL Staff are inactive, there are a select few, that are still considered active.

I would like to see something done about this, since this is such a touchy topic, I will not purpose any ideas because if Neji thinks it's a good idea, I'm sure he will have something already set out for his Staff Members. After all, he is the one employing them.

You're right. There's only about two staff members who are even remotely active on SL, and one or two on the SL forum.

I have to admit, since I have been back I think I have only see a Mod on once, maybe twice...
Also heard that Avatar vaildations are taking up to a week.
But what can you do? You can't make them get on all the time, though that is part of their job, they could tell Neji if they're no able to be on all the time...

Unfortunately, there isn't anything I, or anybody else, can do about it.

All we can do is bring light to the subject and hope Neji does something.

Well the only things he can do is:
-Leave it the way it is.
-Yell at all the mods and try and get them to do their jobs.
-Or just replace them.

Well, just expanding on that recommendation.

Perhaps Neji should create another p.o.i on the MoTD, enquiring for the more "competent" players to apply for positions, should they be considerably active, and are absolutely sure they know the purpose of their role(s).

Neji has he's own system of seeking new Moderators, he has those wishing to apply fill out a form, then send it to him and the other Mods when he is looking, this is usually notified through the MotD when he is looking.

Unfortunately. . . with games like this where the demographic isn't extremely wide, the people will eventually grow out of it.
As such, it only makes sense to switch out the moderators continuously, say every three-four years.*
Unless of course, they are active, which was touched upon in the OP.
I am not to sure why Neji hasn't done any switches with the mods, just kept on adding them on.

*Most of the players on SL, Staff included, that was involved at least three years ago are no longer active. Claimed as "Retired" or have completely deleted their chars. Of course, this also has exceptions, Myself for example. (Even though I left a few times)

Yeah Jinsei, what you said is true, but what seems to happen is the Mods just, disappear, don't say they're leaving etc, or just fade out.
I think if they're going to do that, they should say and resign as a Moderator.

Good point. Neji should make that a requirement.

Perhaps one day, he'll implement a system where Moderators would have to PM him if they need to leave momentarily for some odd reason so he may update the MoTD. Should they be inactive without leaving him with such evidence leading to their misadventure for a considerable amount of time (the point where chars are deleted due to inactivity).

Perhaps a system like that is already in place. While I agree that there are a ridiculous amount of moderators that are inactive, there IS a system and Neji will work with it as he sees fit. He already switched out Gyu for B-man due to his inactivity.

She appears to be more active on SL's RP-representatice site, Shinobilegends Society. She logs onto SL, primarily to check up on PM's from those who participate in the Role-Play-based nature of SLS.

Maybe, but that is a separate entity to SL, if she can't keep up with both, then she should just pick one and stay with it.
