I don't think it's really a retcon. We've just learned that you can grow Zetsu or turn people into him.

But the only way you can turn people into Zetsus is via the Shinju.
We first learn that they were created by The Mazo and Hashirama's DNA/Clone but now they can be created as warriors from those trapped in Mugen Tsukiyomi.

It's all one confusing retcon. Just like Black Zetsu.

Weeeell, she is hosting the Shinju (and I bet she can use wood release, which was the main special thing about Hashi's DNA anyways other than the reincarnation thing), so in theory, it isn't entirely retconned.

Based off of her characterization, I would not be surprised if her offspring were clones created via the creation of all things technique and something else. Or, if she created her "offspring" to begin with.

If you are a star wars geek, you'll know that Palpatine was creating the empire to fight off another incoming menace, the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion. (more about that here)

Just makes me wonder why she'd need a nursery for warriors, especially considering she's obviously the most powerful being in existence (as far as we've been told).
