Title: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 14, 2008, 12:51:44 PM
... we are currently in the last release stage.

There will be a location in the game where you craft higher class items out of lower class items.

Example:

Kunai + Exploding Tag  = Kunai with exploding tag attached

You need "recipes" for everything you want to do, so you can't really go on and experiment yourself...
the reason is simple: you could blow yourself + others around you up in the attempt =)

This feature is currently for Sannin and up, who have the basic knowledge how to create stuff.

Tau likes this!
I got a recipe, so at this moment, I can or cannot make an item?

I can see it now.
Taumaster lunges at you with Self Grown Stick!

Wow I feel like a spammer now. >< Sorry about that.

I love this idea!
Although experimentation would be cool

Gold Bracelet+Silver Bracelet=Golver Bracelet!

Experimentation is bad.

=) No other game has it, the outcomes are always calculated... =)
just that there is no recipe...

@self-grown stick
as said, you have to stick to recipes, and there are NO weapons in it you have as normal weapon.

Post by: Demon Bandit Taumaster on February 14, 2008, 02:28:44 PM
Will these act as normal items? Same way to use them?

Are the recipes permanent or do they perish after using the combination once (I wont waste my gems for this so I'm just interested)
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 14, 2008, 03:05:51 PM
Yes, "normal" items.

Can be lost at oro and whatnot.

Yes, recipes are permanent, except Oro take them *hehehe* and you have to buy them again.

This sounds pretty good, I have to try it ^^
I got a question, well if you buy a recipe, and you learn how to do the item, but then you lose the recipe at x event, will you still be able to do the item? or for doing the items we will always have to buy the recipes?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 14, 2008, 04:01:46 PM
You have to have a recipe. It's not "read + learn"

If anyone has any decent ideas for items + recipe, PM me.

Should be interesting

What will happen if non-compatible?
Will we get a "mistake" item, where it does bad stuff?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 14, 2008, 08:37:42 PM
No.

you have the stuff, you say "do recipe A" and you get it out.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Mihamaru on February 14, 2008, 08:54:01 PM
So we don't get to go "Pick one and two"?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 14, 2008, 09:12:40 PM
No.

there are 100 items in the database.

and you want to forge 3 items.

long clicking session....
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: doomstar on February 15, 2008, 12:48:10 AM
wait, so is it a 100% chance to make the new item if you forge stuff?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 15, 2008, 12:56:18 AM
until further notice: yes

sounds awsome.also are the weapons that you make the same as the ones that you might find in the forest?

Kunai + Exploding Tag  = Kunai with exploding tag attached

Have you ever found in the forest a kunai with exploding tag attached

The weapons will all be new that you make I beleive

Brand new. So new that the shrink wrap will still be on them.

this sounds like a great idea. As for ideas.... what about Yondaime's flash kunai?

PM with ideas and make sure you have the recipe worked out as well.

No, two different things
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: kondaime on February 18, 2008, 11:56:22 AM
Are the recipes now open for people below sannin?

My alt also has access to the recipes at the merchant.

Or did I read something wrong? =/
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 18, 2008, 12:58:00 PM
you can get the recipes, but you can't do them.

all are sannin+

In theory this sounds awesome, but after doing all that is necessary... I found it to be a loss of items and a waste of my gold. :(
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Baluski on February 18, 2008, 09:43:42 PM
That doesn't help to explain why.

Sooo,in able to se a recipe, you must the items needed for it in hand to see it?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: kondaime on February 19, 2008, 01:25:02 PM
Don't think so because I had nearly no items last time and I could still buy recipes.. I just had no money -.-
Title: Re: Item Forging

Has 3 recipes so far and I am very impressed with all of them

That doesn't help to explain why.

mhhmm, ok i found that after spending money for the recipe then using up my items and more money to make the new item i found that i would have been better off using the items i spent separately instead of forging a new item.

the item i got was useful but nowhere near worth the 2K i spent on it.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Sabakunogaara on February 19, 2008, 11:21:32 PM
well, if you were very high up, then 2k would be pocket change
Title: Re: Item Forging

He is high lvl. He's one of the oldest players

Oh and would anyone answer my question above?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on February 20, 2008, 01:04:56 PM
think for yourself =)

you can have a recipe without items for it.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Gyu~ru~ru on March 03, 2008, 01:34:00 AM
Can you make it so that we do not lose our items after an Oro kill? We basically lose more items than we can gain within a Oro kill. Collecting items for forging would mean that we have to sit at level 15.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on March 03, 2008, 07:55:21 AM
That is a balance issue. We'll see, *each* item has a lose-chance.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Baluski on March 04, 2008, 05:35:39 AM
How about the more items you spend to make an item, the less chance you have to lose it if you die or kill oro? =)
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on March 04, 2008, 09:02:41 AM
possible, but then you need to make more items in the item editor ;)

a user carries an instance of an item.... not an unique item every time.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Baluski on March 04, 2008, 04:29:09 PM
I meant for any future items created, not the ones that are already made.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on March 04, 2008, 04:34:35 PM
Yes...

if you have

Staff <---forged with 5 items of the same kind

Staff <---forged with 7 items of the same kind, therefore more powerful

then these are 2 different staffs for the game... in the item editor...

I can't make "items in a module" I create at the users disposal...and without being an item in the table.

It is possible, but quite some programming to be done there...
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Baluski on March 05, 2008, 02:46:29 AM
I realize that, but I wouldn't make two of the same item. The stronger the item and more items you use to make it, the less chance it will break or disappear. The ones created now are fine...maybe all could be dropped a few percent though.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on March 05, 2008, 09:59:10 AM
;) and I said, with the current system an item with different chance to break would be a different item... =)

What happened to the ninja merchant is it even still around?

Title: Re: Item Forging

Does he still give recipes?
Since I bought the Triple Kunai, I haven't seen him sell a single recipe.
He had a lot that time!
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on March 26, 2008, 07:35:54 PM
if you have all recipes, you get no more.

and there have been not 300 new ones, you know.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Mihamaru on March 26, 2008, 07:44:53 PM
I only have that one though.

I dont like having to buy the same recipes over and over again just to make the same weapons.
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Demon Bandit Taumaster on April 09, 2008, 05:04:05 AM
That's the part I don't get.

I mean if you bought instructions on how to make a bike, why would you need to buy the same instructions to make the same bike again?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: doomstar on April 09, 2008, 07:02:05 AM
... you lost the instructions?
Title: Re: Item Forging
Post by: Neji on April 09, 2008, 09:10:45 AM
if you do NOT lose the recipe, you still have it?

if you have no clue how to build a bike, and get a plan, you can do it.
also if you now lose the plan, you might not get it together the next time.

also, note that you have a 100% success chance at the workshop.
A fail chance would be good, but I don't wanted you all to kill me for being mean.
