A cheeky event for players to 'virtually donate' to the game.

Let's say it goes like this- As you journey through the forest you find... a big box that screams "Donate to the game! Only $1!!"

If (you gave a gold piece)
(something minor, say..) - You gain 1 turn || a 5 turn XYZ buff || nothing.

Else if (you gave a gem)
- You gain 3 turns || a 15 turn XYZ buff || nothing || Neji's fancy

Else
- (OMG! punish THEM, Neji!! )

I don't think many people would appreciate being pestered about donating to the game, I believe the mission headquarters and the little paypal button on the side corner is enough.

Also, let's keep the outside characterists to a minimum, we still want to have the "in game" feel and some box telling you to donate to the game just kills the mood. Maybe it could just be a "box of donations" people donate gold and gems to it, get good outcomes, but without the game donation pestering.

Also, maybe implement a negative outcome like

You place some gold into the box... Nothing happens

2-Give it a gem

Outcomes:
1-60% of a good outcome
2-90% chance of a good outcome
3-Lose 50% current HP.

I think this could be a good event.

Well, maybe. But that's why Neji uses the MoTD and why we have a mission headquarters... That would be like watching a show, and right in the middle, it cuts off and says "donate now!" or reading a book and in the middle of it "donate to our company!"... Lessens the mood. There is already communication about donations enough in my opinion... doesn't need to be in the forest too.

yes, I don't think we don't need much ingame advertising ... I decided against advertising in general after the donations came in, more than enough to support the current monthly costs.

Donations should not really bother people, they are extras you can have, but are not vital to your character to survive.
