Japanese name translator:
« on: March 04, 2007, 02:11:43 AM »

So, I found this site a while back that shows how your name would be pronounced/written in Japanese:
http://japanesetranslator.co.uk/your-name-in-japanese/

Examples:
Amanda (my name) -> Amanda (pronunciation stays pretty much the same)
Layla -> Reira (a cookie for whoever that can guess the Reira/Layla reference)
Chris -> Kurisu xD

So, what are your Japanese names?

It is pronounced "RAIAN". (Consonants are pronounced more or less the same way as in English. "A" sounds like a in father, but shorter. "I" sounds like ee in meet, but shorter.)

Yeah I've been on that site before.  They have no translation for my first name, but my last name "Claire" translates to Kureaa  ;)

It is pronounced "KUREAA". (Consonants are pronounced more or less the same way as in English. "A" sounds like a in father, but shorter. "U" sounds like oo in hook, but with less rounding of the lips. "E" sounds like e in met. Double vowels like "AA" are held for twice the duration of single vowels.)

Even with that, I cannot pronounce that word. >.>

My best pronunciation would be "rain".

Indeed it is... and Lebis calls him 'Chris', so that is why I find it funny. ~,~

My first name is Matthew and it came out as:

It is pronounced "MASSHUU". (Consonants are pronounced more or less the same way as in English. "A" sounds like a in father, but shorter. "U" sounds like oo in hook, but with less rounding of the lips. Double vowels like "UU" are held for twice the duration of single vowels.)
