A constant idea for plot can't be too bad.
I mean like a minor underlying goal one person has that they fail at constantly.

Could try some inside jokes.like if the person is looking for some artifact the person could just get it when the person is prevented due to a server malfunction so the server maintenance stop the person from getting the artifact.
