THE OLD MAN

You turn to look and see one of the bodyguards from the Inn walking through the woods heading your direction. You turn back to the old man, but he seems to have vanished.

(heading IN your direction)

the handsome Jounin continues to walk with you through the city. "A long time ago, we have been paid a visit by Orochimaru. With him he brought his right hand, Kabuto. He searched in a nearby cave and found a radioactive crystal. The crystal proofed to be very powerful.

The inhabitants of Konoha Gakure are busy erecting a statue for their newest hero, Charater's name on the only statue pedestal around. The remains of the statue that had stood there before lie in such ruins around the pedestal that it is no longer recognizable.

Isn't there supposed to be a comma after and before the Character's name? Small thing, but I felt like complaining about it. >> << >>

I changed it as I would have written it your way, but ... any native speaker here that can confirm that too?

In my english classes, you're supposed to put a comma after and before stating someone's name in a sentence, so I just went with that. And also, it sounds right to add a pause, or comma there in my own opinion.

Leaftoad is right about having a second comma after the name. When you say "the newest hero, <name>" you are actually naming the subject twice, just clarifying specifically by using the character name. That is when you need a second comma, because the character name is actually a side note to the statement.

THE LADY OF THE LAKE >_>;

You squint your eyes and stick out your tongue, watching your reflection mimick your own playful antics.

LADY OF THE LAKE (what else did you expect from me? >_<)

She fixes her gaze intently upon you and whispers, "You have pleased us this day, May the elements grace shine upon you.".

(lowercase m) (element's grace {or elements' if that was what you were going for..}) (delete extra period)

Yes, I do.... it IS my name after all.. she's like family to me!

And I don't think you ever answered my question about if you cared about random punctuation errors like commas.. like this in the gardens--

From the flowerbeds that bloom even in darkest winter, to the hedges whose shadows promise forbidden secrets, these gardens provide a refuge for those seeking out Orochimaru and his gang; a place where they can forget their troubles for a while and just relax.

No comma belongs there.. I only ask if you care because I know these things are very minor compared to other text issues.
