Okay. So I am new to PreCal, and I am curious. In layman's words, what is PreCal? Because so far in my PreCal classes, I am taking trigonometry. What else is in PreCal and their appliances to reality..? :D

Precalculus is worth nothing. >_>

They pretend that it's a precursor to calculus, but it's only there to drive trig functions in your head along with a bunch of other stuff that you will never need again like arc lengths of circles, radial velocity, conic sections, and more crap. Only things you need to remember for calc is the trig stuff and the definition of derivative.

We never learned the definition of a derivative til Calc.

But yeah, learn how to use Radians, the Trigonometric identities, and the Unit Circle. That's pretty much it.

Oh, yeah, I guess the unit circle is good to know. And radians is the only setting that should be used after geometry unless you're taking physics.

AND SIN^2(X) + COS^2(X) = 1

How about vector?

:twisted:Then that means I have covered the foundations of Precalculus...too bad the knowledge came at the price of a few C's...

I like Vectors!

But I hate Trig... I had to integrate cos^5 (Theta) Last night... it was horrible.

Vectors are slightly necessary. You just need to know how to recognize their notation.

And that sounds splendiferous, Ice. >_>

...OH GOD NEVERMIND THAT TOOK ME FOREVER.

(5/8)sin(x) + (5/48)sin(3x) + (1/80)sin(5x) + C

Got some crazy identities going up in thar.

I hate having to integrate sin/cos^x... You've got to know the identities, substitute in, etc etc etc... Takes about ½-1 page if you show all the work like you need to for AP Exams.

But yeah, vectors are mainly just the basic definition, and notation. You'll learn how to use them in Calculus.

And because there are different Identities, there are different answers... mine would have still been wrong though lol

No, there are specific identities you're supposed to use.

But you have to break it apart into a cos^2 and cos^3 first.

Integrating is usually made easier by parts, but it's still a pain in the ass for that. >_>

I was too lazy to simplify what I got, but after using Wolfram Alpha it was easier to connect the dots. I dids mah work right.

I hate integrating by parts. Takes too long.

We can't do by parts, we've only learnt substitution... :(
