I heard somewhere that taste is memory.

Doesn't make sense to me, but supposedly, when you taste something, your mind remembers it, and unless there's some noticeable textural difference or dramatic change in scent or something like that, your taste buds don't keep working, and what you're tasting is just olifcatory triggered memory response.
