IC/OOC option on village boards
« on: August 21, 2014, 03:34:54 AM »

So recently I joined LoB and have been playing there. I am not sure if I can bring up the site or not here but sense it is like a sister site to SL or something like that I thought it was okay. If not I apologize in advance.

So the reason for making this. While I was there I noted other they have some of the boards set up in the towns. They have these buttons that say IC and OOC or Roleplay / OOC something like that.  The idea is that is you click on the one that says IC or RP then it gives you a chat board where rp is conducted. Then if you hit the other button that says OOC it changes to another chat board where all the OOC talk is.

In recent times at SL it has become clear that the mixture of RP and OOC on the village boards has become a problem. Thus I thought I would bring up that idea here. It seems to be a great way for people to talk OOC in the location as they rp and not have the rp clustered or puched back by OOC.

I just thought this was a great idea and wanted to bring it forth to be examined. I feel it could salve a lot of issues we have at SL on these boards.

The mods could also enforce that all OOC be placed on the OOC board.

I have seen stuff like this used in other venues as well. It seems to function quite well.

They/we/you/he/she/it still has to have manners no matter where their/our/your/his/her/its OOC stuff is being held.

Not a bad idea at all, honestly.

There is no feasible way this could be a bad idea.

No doubt. Respect is not something this gets us out of but rather the clustering of RP with OOC. People want to talk OOCly this allows them to do so without offending those who are rping and making issue of that sort arise. As for as respect for each other and all, that is only something each and every one of us as a whole can achieve.

Does it take alot of coding to do? I mean, granted, I'm not the one putting it in, but I'm just wondering if it's a tech heavy thing or not to add that in. It would be splitting the board into two separate halves if I understand right.

I like the idea though.

It's obviously possible but yes, it would require a fair deal of code editing. It would also depend on exactly which boards it was implemented on. The seven villages? Not too bad. All the fight zones? Hefty. Clan halls? Probably not gonna happen.

I'd say just the villages would be fine.

Too add it to the zones or clan halls or really anywhere besides the public villages seems unnecessary.
That's really the only place RP and OOC conflict. The zones are for fighting, the clan halls are for whatever the clan wants them to be.

In zone four Kamui asked us to stop spamming and we scattered like flies. While OOC can happen there, it's not usually too much. And what would the OOC in the zones be anyways?

In clans, it's up to the clan leaders themselves to decide what should be posted and what shouldn't be, unless what's being posted breaks the rules. You could totally make a "No OOC" clan and just boot anyone who broke the rules.

This would be a brilliant idea. I would love for this to be implemented.

Its possible, Legend of Bleach has it for all the villages I believe.

Whether it'd actually work and stop people from posting OOC at IC board...I heavily doubt it.
