Should Council Members Judge Biju Matches? VOTE
« on: December 04, 2015, 07:20:21 AM »

I saw this question or idea arise some. I think the title is self explanatory.

*****************************
I would have to say no.

Simply for the reason that as a council member they will have to place judgment on the actions of breaking rules concerning those which are placed forward from whatever is provided, I presume. I think that by judging a match, which is based on the judgment of rp not the rules of the system, may lead to a more bais outcome in the later. For example if the rp judge has a hard time dealing with his/her judgment being accepted and is pounded or slandered due to such it may lead to them passing judgment on the council side of things in a negative way as to seek revenge or some other ill felt feelings.

No. I've provided enough reason already. Leave out any biased opinion.

No. That judge should be chosen from the community and that choice of *judge* should be agree upon by both parties.

No.

the judge should be participant chosen, but NOT a council member.

It is important to have them outside all things bijuu as much as possible. If they are judges, bad feelings toward them could form due to rulings that are unpopular. We need the rule enforcers to be accepted by the community so the rules will be followed and strife will calm down.

No. As everyone else said, the council members may react in a negative way if their ruling is unpopular. Council members, like staff, should remain neutral third parties and only act when the rules are broken.

Yes.

Let's face it, people are going to be upset that his/her biju got taken away. And that in itself is an unpopular ruling, regardless of the rules themselves. Lots of SL RPers who are decent people have shown butthurtness over rulings made not in their favor.

I think, however, that judging should be a Secondary job, not a Primary function. In the case that no other judges can be agreed upon, certainly Council members (who want to be elected again mind you) are going to be decent in their rulings no matter the circumstances. And if not, they get da boot next election (or even interim if it's bad enough). I don't think it's wise to ban some of the better (by merit of vote and perception) biju rule follwers from judging a match, even if it is often a RP-based matter.

Yes. It's two different job functions imo.

Of course, council members should not advertise themselves to be judges but if two participants cannot decide on a judge and the ONE judge they agree on, happens to be a council member, then why not?

What's the worst that can happen? A second opinion on a match? I cannot imagine anything match-related to come to a council's attention. After all, the council are just rule enforcers. They have nothing to do with the match itself. If I'm wrong, please provide an example.

No.

Judges should remain neutral when it comes to the winner/loser of a battle in terms of the host, since they control the stripping of the beast, etc. And, as those who came before me, by them not judging, they do not have to deal with bias views. In the end, they have a job to focus on and a job to do. No feelings involved.

I am rather indifferent on this.

I feel that they are two separate responsibilities and personally have no problem with people doing both.

That being said I can see other people potentially having an issue with it and that is a concern. Possibly a reason it may have to be revisited and changed later.

For the time being, I would vote that it should be allowed.
