Shadow perambulated amid the reclusive region of the ever wavering grasslands. The overhead sun radiated downward, producing a shadow of the man that quivered in tune with the grass. It was midday and in high temperature showing no sign of changing weather to come.

The malefactor's robust figure was concealed under various amounts of armor; the outermost layer being a somber black cloak that extended from his base to his neck. Adjoined at the nap of the cloak a hood shielded most of Shadow's face. Gleaming from underneath bright hues of red and purple surveyed the area. Affixed upon his hip was a lone slate-black katana without a sheath.

Following close behind was Nindō. A combination of grey and black hair covered the wolf's figure. Atop its back and sides various pouches and weapons hung. Most notable however was the tomoed sharingan that resided in the right eye socket of the wolf.

Of all the contrivances conceived by man’s peerless imagination, there was none so peculiar as the one ambling across the plains at midday. He had transcended many of the limitations afforded to him by his biological husk using innovations crafted from the ever-convenient mechanical abilities of the Asura Path.

Tobias Augustus’ lofty frame was also outfitted with armor, albeit his bore a striking difference in appearance.  It was an elegant blend of different materials ranging from the coveted Vibranium to his own bone (Kaguya). The intricately designed headpiece rested upon his shoulders, obscuring all of his features save the lavender glow of his tomoed Rinnegan.

With various sensory systems active, Tobias noticed the presence of another albeit less familiar member of his village. He halted his locomotion when he was within intermediate range (30 meters—98 feet) and lifted his hand to wave at the man.

Nindō had picked up on Tobias's chakra as soon as he had entered within the wolf's variable 1 mile range. This information had been delivered to Shadow in a sort of telepathic manner that had become second nature to the duo. When Tobias neared the wolf would start to distance itself from the men keeping at least a 100 yard distance at all times.

Shadow didn't recognize the man as he closed the distance between them. Obviously not only due to his face being concealed behind a mask, but he had never seen the armor he wore. His chakra didn't have a name assigned to it by Nindo either, although it was recorded first in Uzushiogakure. Due to his chakra origin Shadow showed no hostility towards him. Opting to keep a peaceful manner if he was indeed an ally of Uzu.

As Tobias stopped Shadow took cue to open conversation with a small wave attached. "Hello there."

Now it had occurred to him that Shadow might not have recognized him because of his regalia, so he opted to remove his helmet to show his face. He didn’t physically remove it, though. Instead, the “smart polymer” diffused across his epidermis as it assumed a liquid form.

”We haven’t officially met, but you may have heard of me around the land. Tobias Augustus Tait, sir. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Tobias’ choice of words and the tone he employed alluded to the fact that he saw Shadow as one to be respected. He even threw in a salute, which was normally reserved for military personnel and higher-ranking members of Uzushio’s political hierarchy.

Shadow watched as the helm that the man bore basically dissipated into thin air. It was interesting to him, but he wasn't outright surprised. He had seen many others employ technology to their persons in one way or another to increase themselves past the normal limits of their body. Nonetheless Shadow took note of this particular ability.

Sir? Now that wasn't a formality he heard very often. He had vested authority for many years due to his rank, but always took the most informal route for the position. Shadow smiled softly at Tobias's words and gesture of respect. Shaking his head and right hand slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, but the formality isn't required." He paused for a few moments. It did seem that this man knew Shadow well enough to know his position in Uzushio. Still, what was his reason for being out in the middle of nowhere?

"What brings you out here today?" He would have noted his name, but seemed pointless as his identity was known. The wolf, still far back, associated the name, face, and chakra together in the network always allowing it to be pulled back up for future reference if needed.

Tobias assumed a more relaxed posture once Shadow told him that he needn't use formalities when addressing him. This pertained to the honorifics he had used of course, but he figured it extended to his body language as well. His eyes shifted to the wolf for a brief moment. It had withdrawn a considerable distance from the two men, which he assumed was a precautionary measure in case Tobias turned hostile.

Tobias lifted a hand to brush his bangs out of his eyes. “I came here to hone my abilities.” he said while shifting his gaze back to Shadow, ”Normally I would use one of the village’s training areas but the probability of my more destructive abilities harming others was too high for my liking, so I opted to come here instead.” If Shadow possessed some sort of sensory ability, then he would notice that they were the only two lifeforms here—save for the numerous non-human fauna lurking around them. His original intention was to train on his own, but Tobias knew he would progress further if he exchanged blows with his fellow villager. “Would you care to join me? A friendly spar, perhaps.”

Shadow pondered for a moment on the offer Tobias extended to him. It had been awhile since he had a good spar that wasn't an actual death match. No doubt a good opportunity to shake off any dust he had accumulated. He nodded slightly. "A friendly spar, sure." In the back of his mind however he wondered just how friendly it would be. After all Tobias did come out here in the middle of nowhere to avoid his destructive training affecting the village. That was to be seen however. For now Shadow's hand came to rest on the hilt of his sword as his posture changed to the Waki-gamae stance. A common stance derived from kenjutsu origins.

Meanwhile Nindo kept his distance while analyzing Tobias from afar as the two men spoke. His red eye spinning ever so slightly.

Once they had agreed on a spar, Tobias began by summoning two items from a rippling portal created by his Kamui. The items were: a gray shakujo made from the same material comprising the infamous chakra receivers, and a double-edged sword whose blade was crafted from his own (shikotsumyaku) bone. He grasped the items with a firm grip and stepped forward while thrusting the sword, whose name was Mugen, toward his opponent.

The threatening maneuver activated an intricate Fuinjutsu embedded within Mugen's hilt that unsealed the uncountable number of shikotsumyaku blades stored within it, causing the blade to elongate with an exponentially-increasing velocity. To make matters worse for Shadow, Mugen took on an obsidian hue as he infused it with his Six Paths Power--not only boosting the speed of its expansion, durability and cutting power by a factor of 2, but imbuing it with the attractive power of his Rinnegan's Deva Path.

This attractive force would pull Shadow toward the weapon's point, increasing the odds of it puncturing his chest and exiting the other side. Tobias possessed unparalleled precision due to his sharingan and the cybernetic parts that he'd added to his eyes and visual cortex, and this showed in his deliberate positioning of the blade so that it would avoid the man's heart while still puncturing his left rib.

Watched Tobias's movement closely as the spiral portal appeared and two items were pulled from it. Shadow was a bit surprised to see Tobias start with that so quickly, but maybe he had something to prove. As the mans foot came forward and his arm pulled back there was no doubt he was about to javelin Mugen. The two weren't far apart to start with either. The distance between them and the speed at which the sword was...well it would reach Shadow quickly.

Luckily Tobias wasn't the only one with Sharingan. Shadow would be pulled forward as the attractive force of the sword neared him and just as it was about to impale his body it would pass right through to the other side. Continuing it's forward momentum probably for a couple hundred more feet. Shadow would re-materialize shortly after it passed through him.

"Come now you can't automatically go for such a blow in the first round!" A smirk crossed his face and he pointed towards Tobias. Unbeknownst to everyone but Shadow himself his body would start its chemistry class. Both Hone no Yoroi and Gensui-kotsu would start to spread throughout his body. Not only amping up Shadow's defense, but making it extra lethal. He would wait for Tobias's next move. Not doing any sort of offense yet.
