Calm winds licked a tattered and worn cloak as it's wearer exited the tree line. His oculars, one white, the other crimson, scanned the desolate plains for any signs of life. Spotting nothing, he ventured forth into the vast field of grass. The sun shone on his back, the torn remains of Tenmei's symbol faintly gleaming under it's rays.

Eventually the man reached what he assumed was near the center of the never-ending greens. He knelt in the soft grass and began a silent prayer as he waited for his prey to arrive.

Athos would step out of the tree line on the opposite of the clearing from Butai. He wore his usual battle attire.

His skin was adorned with multiple seals, including a Hiraishin marker. His three tomoe Sharingan was currently active and he could of course see Butai at the center of the field since neither of them were making any effort to hide themselves. He grabbed his left shoulder with his right hand and started to rotate his left arm, working out a kink in it as he approached Butai, he was currently 100 meters away from him.

A devilish grin formed on the man's face as he felt the presence of his target. He didn't bother to open his eyes until the man came to a stop. They snapped open, his single Byakugan active, as he finished his prayer, only to tilt his head and laugh.

"How joyous! Our lord has sent me a false doppelganger to rid from this world!" He laughed before standing in a fluid motion. "You copy the lord's image, but you do not contain a fraction of his power. I shall do the only honorable thing and offer your blood to him! .. But before that.."

The man put a hand inside the cloak and drew the shorter of his two blades on his back, an 8 inch blade that looked more like an ornament than a weapon. He flipped the blade in his hand as he held his arms out. Mumbled words exited his mouth as he pressed the edge to his left wrist before slicing through his flesh. The sanguine liquid poured from his veins as he tilted his head back in ecstasy. The ground was painted red by the flow, but it quickly subsided, the man's regenerative abilities quickly kicking in. The pool of blood, oddly, did not soak into the grass or dirt, but remained still as the man flicked drops of the substance off his blade before sheathing it.

"The God of Death is with me, for I cannot die!" His grin only widens as he draws what appears to be only the hilt of a weapon, holding it before him. "Come. Sacrifice yourself to him and be forgiven!"

Athos was smacked with an almost comical sense of Deja Vu. Shaking his head as he ascended his golden eyes into their Eternal Mangekyo form he'd quickly form a one handed kata while approaching his opponent.

Kagemane no Jutsu

Typically people expected this area to be a fair battleground, not favoring either fighter, and normally that was the case... unless you were fighting a Shadow user. The field is awash with a sea of knee high grass, grass that all casts a shadow. The entire field was, in essence one giant shadow. As soon as he finished forming the single kata, which took less time than the beat of a heart, his shadow would be linked with that of the field and that of Butai's since he was also within it.

Assuming this was a success Athos would make a motion with his arm to force Butai to drive his 8 inch blade hilt-deep into his Byakugan eye before swirling it around vigorously to pulverize his brain. Athos was of course not holding a blade so he would be fine. He would continue walking toward Butai while this was happening, now 85 meters from him.

The man's grin only widened as his body became immobile. His weapon flipped against him, the plain hilt facing him in the eye. "Chisuji, kaihō."

The hilt was released, and instantly took on it's true form. Taking from it's owner's chakra the iron toothed-spine grew from the handle as blood seemed to drip from it's teeth, forming the edge of the blade. Obviously, do to it's direction, it grew directly into the head of Butai.

His head was split open instantly, blood spurting from the wound and coating the surrounding grass in nearly a 30 meter radius. The fountain continued for a few moments before the limp body fell over. The blade hit the ground before the body and dislodged itself, landing next to it.

A couple more seconds would pass before a chuckle is heard from what many would assume was a corpse. Butai was seemingly unharmed, of course, laying in the grass should Athos' technique still be active, but otherwise standing to face his would-be-killer. "You're going to have to try harder if you think that can kill me. I told you. The God of Death will not let me join him. You must go in my place." He cackled, his weapon coming to his hand on his own. Though it may not appear as threatening if the Kagemane was still active.

Like Athos said he was making Butai stab himself with the 8 inch blade, not the blade-less hilt, though since he survived the theoretical larger attack it shouldn't make too much of a difference. "Suppression it is then." Athos thought to himself. Before expanding on his shadow jutsu, he would not have released the Kagemane so easily.

With the great mass of shadow he had to manipulate Athos would do what was essentially a Kage Nui no Jutsu except instead of forming tendrils to skewer him he'd use the abundance of shadow to swarm over and completely cover Butai's body like a morph suit.

He'd then release the fuinjutsu on his left arm, cleverly called the Left Arm Fuinjutsu, which would spread over his appendage. This would allow him to channel chakra absorption through his techniques, which he would begin to do through the shadows. Should Butai by engulfed by the shadows he would find they'd begin to very quickly drain him of his chakra as where ever they touched his body it would be like another leech latched onto him, by completely covering him the process would be highly expedited. The chakra was not being funneled into Athos but into the jutsu to make its hold even stronger.

As Athos prepared his snare, Butai only grinned as he activated a pair of techniques. His body began to seemingly sink into the blood-soaked ground, avoiding the Nui. Simultaneously, the massive ring he had formed of blood seemingly sank as well. Using his advanced control over blood and iron, the man had formed the correct chemical bonds within his sanguine liquid to turn it's normal pH from the standard 7 to a devastatingly acidic 1. The poor grass didn't stand a chance, quickly dissolving away and leaving a massive barren scar on the plains. Of course, with no grass, is a distinct lack of shadow, as the only thing that remained where Butai was laying was a pool of blood.

Like a vampire, the man raised from the crimson fluid, flicking his wrist as he did so. This caused the pool to extend outwards along the ground, mowing and dissolving the grass in an additional 20 meters, bringing the size of his bloody mess to 50 meters in radius. The thick substance seemed to bubble slightly as it began to grow vertically as well. Rather than barely covering the ground, the liquid was now ankle deep and slowly raising.

"Come. Drink until my blood makes you mine!" From a drop, an ocean. That was his Lord's decree. One of the principles of Chiton's founder. Of course, he wasn't simply using Chiton, his was stronger, more advanced. And so an ocean he created. His acidic crimson flooding the plains in every direction, quickly reaching over 100 meters in each direction. Of course, this wasn't necessarily directed at Athos, but if he wished to keep his shins, standing still would not be wise.

That would allow Butai to avoid the Nui but he would still be snared by the Shadow Possession he was already in. True melting the grass would reduce the amount of shadow he had to work with, but he still had the entire rest of the area under his control and unless Butai did something that completely removed the shadow that was already bound to him it would not go away so easily as it merely needed the grass to instantly reach him, but did not need it to continue the bind. Since he seems to be able to control his blood by sheer will this would likely not change anything in his post.

Athos would jump upward and away from Butai, causing them man to jump backward as well due to the Kagemane. Athos however would form a hovering chakra platform under his feet in mid-air causing him to stand 20 feet above the ground and over the spreading blood.

Noticing how the blood seemed to have an acidic effect on the surrounding area Athos would respond with an acid of his own.

Chirōkyū: Wisdom Wolf Decay

Athos would expel from his mouth a massive pink cloud of dense and corrosive alkali gas. It was like a gaseous version of Suiton: Bakusui Shōha and would crash down, in a manner of speaking, over the area in front of Athos and threaten to sweep forward and engulf Butai. The stuff was potent enough that once it swept over the trees on the outskirts of the area they would be disintegrated almost immediately. Given Athos large chakra reserves the cloud would be as large as if Saiken himself performed the technique, extending over 30 feet above Butai's head.

However remembering how Butai had avoided his last attack this time Athos would jump again, straight up into the air this time. It would be less extreme than his last jump, only 15 feet into the air, but by forcing Butai to mimic the movement he would put him right in the middle of the corrosive cloud as it was sweeping over him and hopefully prevent him from avoiding the attack, at least by sinking into the ground again.

If he was struck by it, unless something about his constitution is resistant to it, the gas would almost instantly reduce Butai to nothing. Which hopefully would be enough to stop any further regeneration.

As flat liquids have no shadow, Butai was free from the Kagemane and not subject to Athos' use of it. [Discussed in PM].

Butai watched as the man attempted to flee, only to instead spill his fumes over the battlefield. As the fog of alkali rolled in, Butai raised his arm lazily. The slowly raising ocean of crimson quivered a moment before it's growth accelerated exponentially. It filled the air before him, cutting the pink cloud off.

Of course, due to the nature of his acidic blood, it would react once the gas touched it. The blood and gas hissed as steam began to take the place of Athos' cloud and Butai's blood. Slowly, the acid and base would react to form chemical salts that would fall into the sanguine sea as well as both liquid and gaseous water. The liquid water would add itself to the growing pool of blood, quickly being mixed in, while the steam seemed to gather over head.

As Butai used his right hand to neutralize Athos' gas, he used his left to control the steam created by the chemical reaction. It pooled above their battle before condensing into water droplets. Their numbers grew as more and more of the pink cloud was eliminated by Butai's blood. Soon enough, Butai's pinky finger would move, causing a volley of water bullets to be sent at Athos. That first attack was immediately followed by ever increasing waves of shots. The best part about his attack, was that each miss would only add to the blood under Athos.

Athos would of course be aware of his shadow being forcibly disconnected from Butai, his post would have continued as previously written though without Athos try to force Butai to jump into the cloud since the Kagemane was no longer in play.

Seeing the cloud that was created from the collision of their techniques gave Athos an idea. He'd release the seal on his arm containing natural energy, the Sage Gathering Seal. It contained enough natural energy to convert all of his chakra into Senjutsu chakra, immediately entering him into Perfect Sage Mode.

He would then use the same technique again, this time craning his head about to spray the cloud of alkali in all direction around him. He would use the fuinjutsu on his left arm again to channel his chakra absorption ability through the cloud this time, like he had done previously with his shadows.

This would wind up protecting him from Butai's water attack, which he'd have been able to sense with the chakra sensing ability he gains while in Sage Mode. The chakra inside the droplets would be absorbed upon entering the massive cloud, rendering them harmless. Operating under normal gravity once out of Butai's control meant none of it would even strike Athos.

Just as before the cloud would threaten to overtake Butai but this time, enhanced by Sage Mode, it would be three times larger, the front before him stretching 90 feet into the air. It would absorb the chakra out of the blood pooling across the area as well as any he tried to defend himself with. Since Butai obviously doesn't have more than his bodies mass of blood inside him it stands to reason the blood is made of chakra and not merely controlled by it, meaning it would disappear completely if the chakra was absorbed. If the contrary is somehow true the blood would fall lifeless to the ground instead.

Since the power of the technique is also enhanced by Sage Mode if Butai found himself caught in it he would almost certainly be reduced to nothing in a moment's notice, unless he brought force some incredible defensive measure. However since the cloud as absorbed chakra it would make defending against it a little trickier than normal.

Considering Athos did not active his Sage Mode to perform his jutsu until after sensing the water bullets, and he made no effort to avoid or protect himself, several would undoubtedly pelt the man given their speed. Even those that were fired after the gas began to once again coat the arena would not find themselves magically stopped and would continue their decent towards the man, though without the constant acceleration the chakra provided. As for the already formed water, it would fall, likely absorbing and carrying with it a large amount of the fog into the blood below. The acidic blood would mix with the liquid and create even more water, which in turn creates even more blood.

Seeing the man's attempt to overcome his acid with his alkali, Butai simply sank back into the continuously growing pool of red. While doing so, he adjusted his jutsu as his eyes observed the effects of the fog. Rather than spreading his chakra through the sanguine sea to control it, he instead moved all of his chakra to the bottom and created a small current. With no chakra near the surface, and fresh acidic blood being moved to the top, it would slowly convert the fog to water (thus creating more blood) without damaging his chakra supply. Of course, he'd continue to create blood while inside his ocean. Lucky for him, his blood creation was basically medical ninjutsu. Once done, it wouldn't be undone by any chakra removal, not that his control would allow it regardless. It would simply continue to exist.

Not wishing to be the only one on the defensive, Butai would also cause several thousand of the blood cells to break apart. He'd then use the iron that makes up the hemoglobin to grow more iron, finally using the other half of his, heh, bloodline. It would only take a moment for him to have a thousand iron needles. The needles sank almost to the bottom of the crimson pond before being launched upwards at Athos by the blood itself, similarly to a crossbow and ensuring that no chakra remained inside of them to be drained.

Considering Athos' base durability of Strongest Shield was currently enhanced by Sage Mode none of the water bullets stood a chance of damaging him. They pinged harmlessly off his chest, and no, nothing splashed into his eyes or mouth or anything that might facilitate further shenanigans.

Seeing less than admirable results from his cloud Athos would leap upward from his hovering platform, his further increased strength meaning he easily cleared the cloud and then some, ascending to over 100 feet in the air. Whether or not the coming needles could reach that high or survive travelling through what remained of his alkali cloud would be unclear but even if they could it would be irrelevant as Athos flashed through several one-handed kata during his ascent and formed another chakra platform beneath his feet once he reached the 130 foot mark. His hands would come together, leaving a few inches of space between them, and white energy would focus between his palms, forming a cylindrical pyramid shape, white a smaller white sphere in the middle.

Senpo: Jinton: Genkai Hakuri no Jutsu

Athos would propel the shape downward and it would expand to a titanic size, obliterating all of the iron needles as they came into contact with it. It would continue to descend and expand, engulfing the entire sea of blood below him. The Dust Release construct would push into the ground as it expanded, descending to 30, 40, 50 feet below the surface and continuing to push down to assure no escape could be had in that direction even as it continued to expand outward. Seeing as Dust Release destroys its victims on a molecular level it was more than capable of destroying Butai even in his blood form.

Seeing as the majority of the blood was not even under Butai's control currently, as he had concentrated all his chakra at the bottom to avoid having it absorbed, it would be unlikely he could do anything with it to avoid it being destroyed. Assuming it is centralized in the middle of the blood pool meant that it would have a large distance to cover to get out of the way as the Dust Release attack would be larger in size than the blood pool once it fully expanded and it would be highly unlikely Butai could move it from the center of the pool to completely outside of its confines, and then some, to avoid the Dust Release strike that would come in only a moment.

My medical condition has been deteriorating to the point that I spent the rest of the night after work yesterday coughing up blood (like, 99% blood, not just a bit of red in my spit or whatever), so I'm going to just end this now instead of making it go another week when I'll probably been in the hospital or dead.

So, Athos wins, whatever.

I hope everything goes well and you just get hospitalized and not deceased, Chinote. Get well soon. Like seriously, good call though. This doesn't matter at all when you're coughing up blood like that.
