Athos vs Jestar, Tank vs Magician!
« on: April 28, 2017, 11:51:30 PM »

Starting post. The only voided tech for the fight is Deadzone. Location is forest, Greenlands, time of day is daytime. Tobias is judge for the match. Fight is OOC fight to concession or OOC death for the 7-tailed beast.

==========================================

The Green Lands. It was here where the canopies were their thickest, casting a blanket shadow over the entire forest. Why would the Hyuuga Nara choose here to fight? 'cause why the hell not? He lived in a forest like this, and had been training in it for a long time. The air was cool, crisp, like that of Fire Country. Summer had come to Fire Country, and lots of plants were in bloom. Thank god Jestar didnt have any allergies, or this place would be hell.

He came in his ANBU gear with a cloak over him. The Blade of Thunder strapped to his back, the large sword seemed almost as tall as he was, and seemed better suited to a stabby gabby baggy kind of guy. He wore an ANBU mask, maximizing the shadows on his body, but more importantly, hiding his byakugan, so that his foe would not know that he literally had eyes that could see the back of his own head. He had all the standard ninja tools and stuff, but plus that, he also every hyuugas essentials, his hands, in a loose fashion, ready to move at a moments notice if need be.

The shadow was strong in his family. His father had it, his aunt had it, his brothers in arms had it. He had it, marked for it as a true leaf Nara. He was no Grandmaster as his father liked to call himself, but damn if he was not a master.

His Raiton though, that was where he shone, literally. He crisp air meant he could make static just by walking, and since he wasnt fighting Nathan or that travel through lightning guy he used to swing with, then that was good. His fire was good too, that too ran through the Leaf blood. From previous Hokages he had a will too, but it was not a fiery one to ignite the field. It was one scanning, heart racing as nervous blood pumped through his veins. He had heard so much about this man, so much about his prowress, his overwhelming might. Could he beat him? Could he give him a good fight at least? Maybe he should attack first, set the pace. But with his foes power, he could probably swat it with a arm. So he needed to try something bold, something crazy, just crazy enough to actually work, maybe. If all else failed, he could just ask him to surrender, but wouldnt that be a waste at this point?

Probably.

Thoughts and blood going through his veins, the young man was barely in his twenties, but he stood at the precicpe, ready to die for the glory of Konoha if need be. Well, maybe not glory, ANBU didnt get glory, they got infamy, they got dead civilians as a test, secret pacts with Razvan to not talk about that part of their corps... Baggage, baggage that weighed on his mind for redemption. One chance, he thought, one chance before he was smashed.

If that damned Fox had any senses it could probably sense something odd for an ANBU; anxiety, even some fear, at the unknown that likely would stride in on a great beast, level so much of the forest, and force him into a corner at its drooling maw. He would still only have one chance, one opportunity to work his magic to deal with the power of convention, the power of creeping crawlers in bright, glistening sweat and manly toughness that no green trophy could enompcass. He had only one chance to try, to see if he could test the waters and tip the balance, to bring recognition back to the village name, Konohagakure. One chance.

He had to make it count.

Sunlight shone through in parts, the wind was soft, but still nothing. Had it been an eterneity? Had he already lost? No, it had barely been a few minutes let alone that. He needed to get his nerves under control, or his fear might very well stink up the entire zone. What did he have to fear, death? Shame? He was an ANBU, there was no such thing as fear in his heart! And yet there was, and yet there was this anticipation of not knowing what he was to face, his concern as he knew he went up against such a warrior as Athos Uzumaki, famed not for slaughter like that madman from Kirigakure, but famed for his fortitude of the testicular variety. Could Jestar stand against that and all the might of the muscles forged from the depths of tailed beasts? Could he stand against such a thing? He only had one chance, one chance, one chance, one chance, and he knew it. He had three things he would try, three things he could try, and all three spoke of desperation. He had to choose, he had to choose, he could only do one.

And he had to make it count.

Taking a deep breath, Jestar steadied his mind, to control on a single thought, on a single goal. Win, at all costs. His will determined and his electrifying iron strapped to his back, he was his own only hope. The only space wizard to save him had already granted him his powers and left, like a feckless father who only seemed to care about his clan, but never seemed to stick himself in enough women to make sure it kept going. A bastard who consorted and likely bent over to that scoundrel who they drove from the village gates all those years ago. Yeah, kind of like that "Grandmaster" who still hasnt even invited his own son to join his little band of newbies and a wild card. Only one chance to get his name out and challenge his reputation as the bestest and smartest of the leaf Nara if not of all Nara.

One chance. And in as little as 5 minutes, Jestar had his composure. His fear did not vanish. His worry not extinguished. But any traitorous thoughts of turning back now were banished, gone, bid adue with a triple pronged kunai. One path, one will, one plan he had set in his heart and mind, with only the plan subject to change upon his opponent's arrival.

He had one chance. And he had to make the best of it.

Nara, that was a name that was familiar to him in many ways. Though many knew very little about the man that became known as Athos Uzumaki, the truth is that his mother was a Nara. And though he had been trained in it when he was younger, for awhile it was only his memories of her and what little skills he had to connect him to that part of his family. Until he met another esteemed Nara, one whose prowess was still talked about to this day. It was that same person that helped him notice his strength in the usage of shadows and helped him push to where he was now in regards to his control. But he didn't think this thought because he was going to challenge is opponent in the art, while it was a good skill Athos knew where his strengths were.

Nara. No, the reason that he thought about that was because it was a name that he respected and knew the strength behind. He knew not the man himself, at least not personally, but his last name alone was enough for Athos to regard him as a worthy opponent.

As Athos walked towards the forest, he did nothing to hide his terrifying chakra pool, or the presence of the Nine-Tailed Fox that rested inside of him. He was wary of the shadows that only got thick and more numerous as he proceeded deeper into the forest, but he showed no fear as he progressed. He had been to hell and back, there was little that could actually scare him, though there was something to always be wary about. Though many would call it a bad choice, Athos wore no shoes as he traversed through the forest, though as he moved it seemed he was unhindered by any small blockage and if someone saw the bottom of his feet, they would be completely clean.

He wore a dark black outfit with a dark red belt that was based around a tradition Karate outfit, though obviously it had been made to fit the towering six foot seven inch tall figure of Athos and made to cover his whole range of movement. His crimson hair flowed down his shoulders and to his waist, complimenting both his dark hair and tanned formed. The only visible markings on his body would be the tattoo that stretched from his wrist and up past his shoulder, though it also doubled as a Fuinjutsu, the Tattoo Design meant to hide the intricate seal. He carried two items on his form, a sword on his hip by the name of Oken and a scroll that rested just beneath the small of his back that contained his weapons and basic shinobi tools.

[/*He's close.*color]

The beast dwelling inside Athos uttered to him as they entered a part of the forest where the shadows seemed the darkest and there was almost no light breaking through. As Athos muttered his thanks to Kyuubi, they entered this area and it would become apparent that the strong golden hues of Athos would glow faintly in this darkness. Despite it, he could easily see his way around and he let out a soft grunt as he did, he knew he was in bad territory here.

But that didn't matter, Athos could feel the boy, too. He wasn't able to pick up on the emotions that Kyuubi was from the boy and even though they had worked on their bond, the Nine Tails didn't help him any further than that right now. But the man was a warrior through and through, something like feeling someone who had some strength to them became like another sense, almost. Regardless, he'd close in on the youth.. He had to be ready, he knew that the Nara would strike first now that he was in his den.

There he was! The man himself, standing at some great height, walking through the forest barefoot as if he owned the place; and maybe he did, Jestar knew not and cared not. Instinct told him to strike now, to unleash his intended ace card right here and now, as a dragged fight was not to his advantage. But what if that failed, then? He would have no further tricks up his sleeve, and it was deathly apparent that he would have to trick such a man with the kyuubi's chakra flowing through him.

He was a jinchurikii, Jestar could see with his byakugan. He was definitely the target then, and standing only a meter away, with no trees or anything of the sort between them, the question now would become who would get the decisive blow in first. Even if he succeeded in his plan, he still had one little problem, and that being he was not sure whether his opponent could both counter his move and attack him at the same time. Sure he could do a last minute ditch effort jutsu to try to stave off the attack, but what after that?

He had considered it, but now, seeing the shinobi and his various seals and tools for himself using the byakugan, Jestar knew even moreso than before that any battle lasting more than a few moves would not be to his advantage, and at this close of range, it was necessary to get it right on the first go or call it an evening.

Like a duel, Jestar would make the first move by using shadow imitation to attempt to connect his shadow to that of Athos'. A predictable first move, one done just by thought thanks to the Shadow Seal, and one that his opponent might would smirk at whether caught or not. He had considered trying a different route, but that route would have to be his reserve, his backup Jestar reasoned.

This had to be first, his relative best foot forward; Yin release.

If the connection was successful, facilitated by the shadow of the canopy that Jestar had purposely chosen for a battlefield, Jestar would do something less expected and follow up not with an attempt at something less expectable: genjutsu.

But you see, this was no ordinary genjutsu, for had his quarry started the motion of a smirk upon learning of Jestar's first move, it would likely either be frozen in place or stopped cold. If successful with execution, the connection of shadows reminiscent to eye contact for Tsykyoumi, the genjutsu would activate, severing Athos' and even the Nine-tails' conscious connection to the vessel that they called a body. To put it in clearer terms, their very minds would be separated from their bodies, and the sensation would be akin to an out of body experience, breakable only with the breaking of the shadow connection or the death of either contestant, the former unlikely in this terrain given the circumstances. While something like mental blockages was designed to protect the user from having their mind hacked into, Jestar was not after memories or knowledge, only after removing his foe's control over their body.

Shadow Imitation Illusion: Mind Body Disturbance

At this point it would proceed that Jestar would have control over Athos' body in his stead, similar to the namesake inspired technique the mind body disturbance technique, including his shadow, his seals, etc. Of course, Jestar did not know how to use the seals nor the scroll, so rather than waste his effort in trying to use those, he would attempt to use the conjoined shadows to teleport Athos' heart into the Nara pocket dimension.

Shadow Hell Technique

If all of this was successful, then without a heart Athos would be severely hampered in a future engagement, however, he would not be killed instantly by such a move, and later Jestar could retreat from the jutsu with his mind intact from the engagement. But that is later, not this post, as this post would be all about the attack.

====================================

The above is the optimal outcome. If he connects shadows, successfully executes the jutsu, and manages to get his target of the heart, then the match would all but be concluded at that point. However, Athos had seals on his body, most of which Jestar IC has no idea as to function, and obviously the man had gotten this far as a result of craftiness. The element of surprise was Jestar's strength here, for who previously had thought of combining genjutsu and shadow imitation?

Well, maybe Athos actually, which is why Jestar had his backup plan on hand. If Athos were to stop him at the 2nd stage (the mind body disturbance part), which was the most likely place to be stopped, then Jestar would, having already suffered through the most chakra draining attack in his arsenal, would be too disoriented to attempt to use another chakra-intensive, high focus attack or defense, and would instead attempt to retreat into the shadow pocket dimension, something he could do more instinctively. This would likely be near instant because he was covered in shadow. Once in his pocket dimension... Well, that would be 3 actions so what he would do then would have to wait.

If Athos were to stop him at step 1, somehow, then Jestar would have more options available to him, having only lost one of his actions. If he failed to connect shadows, then it would have to either be a change of lighting or a shadow imitation move Jestar had never witnessed before; it would follow that his best reactionary course would be to surge Raiton to his palms and thrust outward, sending a 360 degree wave of Raiton outwards in a hemisphere with a radius of only 2 meters.

Zeus Wave

The wave moved outwards akin to chidori nagashi rather than in bands, Jestar's intentions for the electricity being the reason for this. After all, this was not intended to merely shock Athos if he were to try to tank it as someone of his caliber might naturally do (since Jestar didnt reveal his special shadow imitation Athos would have no reason to be wary of a trick on that caliber), but to extend the range of Jestar's lightning release. If contact was made with the lightning release jutsu, Jestar would direct the electricity to Athos' nervous system, with the intent on confusing the various signals to the point where he would have trouble moving his body efficiently.

Lightning Release: Body Pathway Derangement

Wait, is Jestar still trying to basically do the same thing he had intended the first time? Kind of, but while his first attempt, in a sense, was at what was likely a weakspot for the Tank of seals, this one used Raiton to try to do the job of deranging Athos' control of his body and leaving an opening. That being an elemental technique from an element as common as Raiton, it was less liable to work perfectly, but also not something the 9-tails could really help with. It would be very difficult to reorient his body in time, especially in the time it would take for Jestar to attempt to follow-up with an attack while he was whittled (albeit, he would have to wait a turn).

But what if Athos stopped him at the 3rd stage of the plan, the shadow hell part? As unlikely as that was, if Jestar had already gotten to that point in his plan, he would be out of actions if that was countered; he would be defenseless for a brief moment in time, which would most likely still lead to a  quick end to the fight.

With a single post, all his cards were on the table. His trap cards flipped face up, his dark magician buffed, and his backup spells shown. What now, then, would the legend do? Simply using genjutsu release would not work, and even with a connection with the 9-tails, Jestar had went after both of them with this jutsu; one would have to first free themselves before going to aide the other or, perhaps more strategically, directly engaging in a mental battle with the primary aggressor.

Why not just use the attack twice in a row if it were broken by some chance? Well, while physically possible (Jestar would have enough chakra to hit just Athos or just the 9-tails, but not enough to again go after both) similar to Itachi when his grand genjutsu was broken by Sasuke, the lost investment would backlash Jestar to the point where he would be compelled to temporarily withdraw from the fight to get his wits back about him.

He had to make his attack(s) count, and he had been planning this particular combination for some time now. If all failed, then he was left without any trump cards.

There was a lot that people often missed about Athos and the way that he worked and fought, though one consistency was that he was constantly overestimating his power and underestimating the power of his opponents, another consistency was the fact that he never really prepared for Genjutsu... And he made a mental note to change something about that, or at least he would make if he managed to survive the next several moments. There was a lot to process, seeing as when Jestar would take over his shadow that not only Athos but Kyuubi would have been sucked up into a Genjutsu, though even if he hadn't captured Kyuubi in the attack, the Nine Tails couldn't have helped Athos escape since the Redhead hadn't mastered the Bijuu yet. But those were unimportant facts.

When Athos was placed into the genjutsu, the next thing that Jestar would have moved to done was remove the Uzuamki's heart from his chest. One could wonder how this type of thing would go about happening, seeing the man's skin was one of the hardest things in this realm and to teleport something it had to be in direct contact with it, i.e. a Hiraishin marker can only move a person and not their heart, unless specifically placed on their hearts. And no shadows had plunged into the depths of Athos' mouth to go and touch his heart, so he had to make sure he found out how the Nara managed to teleport his organs while never touching them but that was a question for another day. Now while Jestar claimed that the only way to get out of this Genjutsu would have been to break the shadow, anyone with the basic knowledge in Genjutsu knows that no matter the level of genjutsu that enough real physical pain is enough to shatter an illusion.

And like Jestar had so politely pointed out, while a wound like the one Athos suffered could prove fatal if he didn't have a chance to recover, it wouldn't be enough to instantly kill him... And if it needs to be said, having your heart suddenly ripped out of your chest is more than enough pain to shatter the illusion of most/all Genjutsu known in the realm. So while it was his own cleverness that would have gotten Jestar to this point, where Athos had no heart and the battle was turning in his favor, it'd be the actions of the same man that would free Athos from this bad set of circumstances. And that was when the battle would change, the blood from Athos' missing heart exploding out his mouth in a gurgle and then down his chin.

But then there'd be a flash of light as Athos would go to turn the battle, calling forth the infamous power of the Nine Tails Chakra Mode, where his form would be covered in a cloak of chakra that was a dark and almost musty red, like something with a bad case of rust. The color was because the red chakra of the Nine Tails mixing with Athos' own rust colored chakra but with this Athos didn't need to move, a hand coming from his hip made from the chakra construct that was the Nine Tails chakra Cloak and grasping the blade known as Oken and pulling it from it's sheath. The moment that the blade left the sheath there was an explosion, though not a literal one.

An unknown fact about Oken is, that while it gave Athos an edge against most physical fights, is that the redheaded man made sure to never use the weapons main ability. Because whether they saw this IC or OOC, people would never forget this simple trump card and so, being forced onto his last few legs right in the beginning of this fight, Athos had no choice but to show the secret Oken held. In an instant after his heart had been ripped from his chest all of the shadows from the area would be erased and what would be replaced was a blinding white light that would literally be seen from at least half a mile away, if not even a whole mile. The intensity that came from this explosion of light would have been enough to almost destroy Jestar's eyes and even though Athos had no idea he was using the Byakugan, this worked in the Uzumaki's Favor. Because Jestar had no way to know to deactivate his eyes and the man was literally able, as he said, to see everything including the back of his head... Even closing his eyes would do nothing to stop the man from, most likely, being effected by this blinding light and having his eyes almost destroyed to the point of uselessness, even with the infamous Byakugan.

But of course that wasn't all, though this didn't make it so that Jestar could no longer retreat into his Shadow Dimension or anything like this, seeing there would suddenly be no shadows for him to have taken over. But with the Nine Tails Chakra Cloak around his form and the shadows erased, Athos was moving on the same level as someone that had just entered Sage Mode so with an almost pained roar and not even a whole two seconds after his heart had been removed him his chest, Athos' right hand was drawing Oken fully from it's sheath and swiping in the area directly in front of him. But this wasn't just a swipe of his blade but instead Athos showing the last bit of Oken's features.

The weapon, still the source of the light, would been glowing an almost heavenly white as it would extend to nearly half of a football field's length, easily moving through the air and severing dozens upon dozens of trees that were in front of him and behind Jestar as he released this devastating attack. How was the blade able to reach these lengths? Well the blade had the ability to release a beam from it's tip that was capable of incinerating lesser things upon contact, meaning that each and every tree and stump that this blade touched would have caught on fire almost immediately and would have left to the large scale forest fire that'd take only a few seconds to encompass the whole forest.

But with this swing and Jestar hopefully being blinded by Athos' own sneak attack, the powerful Nara would hopefully find himself bisected at the stomach, where he would also lose both of his arms and then all of his internal organs as he would catch on fire and slide into several pieces. Of course these two overpowered attacks took a lot of chakra, though not actually a lot, it was definitely enough to cause the injured Athos to fall down onto a single knee. In less than a few moments Athos had hopefully escaped Jestar's jutsu and literally cut and lit the man on fire, ending his life and this fight.

It, worked? Jestar had been banking on this working or else, and as he went through the steps he found himself almost happy. Then, unwittingly, he had executed both a great play and a great mistake at the same time. He took his heart away, causing him great pain and releasing him from the genjutsu.

Whoops.

Jestar would have no time to articulate such a thing, however, because in the follow-up as Jestar returned to his own form was a light so blinding and so great that one would think that they had stared into the rays of the sun for several minutes. Forced to his senses and the realization that his plan had been flawed, Jestar's only chance at this point was to attempt to flee to the shadow dimension.

But, how would this attempt play out? After all, Athos' sword of revealing light clearly removed the shadows from the surroundings, he could not just merge into them. Not that merging into them would be optimal, but still. Well, as Athos had correctly guessed in assuming that the light alone would not prevent him from escaping to the shadow dimension, the man had likely not assumed why, the reason being the very same one that took his heart away. The presence of shadows inside of the body.

What, you say? How can there be shadows inside of the body? Well, if you have ever looked into a dog's mouth, or your own mouth for that matter, you will notice that the light extends only to a certain point, before anything further than a certain point is shrouded in shade. This shade, this shadow, is what makes Pop's shadow imitation curse so difficult to break (unless upon someone trying to use that you literally disconnected their mind and body via the shadow connection, but so much for that surprise now) as truly eliminating all shadow in the body was impossible using conventional methods, and still difficult using the supernatural ones that ninja were typically afforded.

If Jestar indeed would not be prevented from entering the shadow dimension, then surely Oken's light only affected the shadows outside of objects and not within them, at least on this stage? Poetic licence aside for a moment, what good would it do for Jestar to still have access to the shadows inside of his body? Wouldn't he still be cut in half no matter how he slices it?

Well, as Athos had hinted at, at this point, it was not a matter of who died and who lived, but a matter of who died first and who lived last; Jestar was at an advantage in that up until Athos decided that bisecting and setting him on fire was the best way to go. The French of the 100 years war would only disapprove because Jestar was a man and not a woman, and not thier personal war hero against the English. Jestar was an ANBU, a shadow in the night, not a heroine defying the gender steroetypes of her day. I mean, look where that got her! At least Jestar would not be burned by his people!

Athos is a Nara? Oh, well, err, he is also an Uzumaki, so there is like, just enough... Jestar's a Hyuuga so what does that have to do with anything? Okay so MAYBE he is technically also getting burned by one his own people. Fine, just ruin a good analogy while youre at it. Back to the fight then.

Oh if only he had used an ordinary blade, how simple it would be to have his internal shadows have the blade slip right through him! But it was no ordinary cutting object, it was, effectively, the Borderlands version of the lightsaber, complete with incendiary damage for extra damage against Warriors and giant toothed orifices alike. Handsome Jack would probably go after Athos for his banditry though.

So while using shadow migration Jestar could save, say, his head, and his chest cavity from both the laser and the fire damage, he would still be missing a large portion of his midsection and his legs, that much left behind and burning to a crisp. Time constraints you see, prioritizing what's important, having children if some horny maiden were to come by and be into necrophilia not being high on the list; again, going back to the original premise of this stage of the fight, it was not who lived and who died, but who died the quickest that would separate winner and loser.

Athos had cut Jestar's advantage to size, roughly in half to be logical here. The absolute vitals, the heart, the lungs, the brain, they remained connected and intact, for the most part. As a diagram of the body would generally show, the heart and lungs are not directly in front of or on top of the stomach, so regardless of Athos' idea of "stomach" being that of the superficial belly or the organ itself, the slash itself would not also cut through his heart and lungs.

Shadow Migration

But where would this leave Jestar?

Assuming he succeeded with his, admittedly, desperate plan, then Jestar would appear in the shadow dimension with a portion of his midsection gone Darth Maul style; at least he would not have to worry about extended visits to the porcelain throne, nor about having to pay child support, because there went any aspirations for that too.

With half his body sacrificed, then, Jestar would appear in the shadow dimension, with his howl of pain the last thing to be heard before his retreat, presuming he was successful at his retreat attempt. Suspended there, his eyesight gone and only the sense of eternal shadow around him, the young man would try to fight death off with a shadowy stick, using the all surrounding shadow to keep his remaining contents (blood and all that) from spilling out like a horror victim in a not so typical jumpscare movie. A few meters in front of him would be Athos' heart, seemingly frozen in whatever beat it had been in when it had been filched.

So, what now, the question would have came up again. If that didnt kill him then what would? Not us he might would say, but he would need to know for sure. This is all presuming he survived.

===============================

Of course, if Jestar's attempt failed, for reasons being the most likely of his shadow imitation not working or something more nefarious, I have also written out his death as well. I mean, what kind of fight is without its ending post eh? I am not that sort of poet, no, I am the sort that gives finality dignity to his characters!

If his plan were to fail, then as Athos predicted, Jestar would be severed and emit a large amount of static eletricity. Even his sword cut in two, you would think this a pointless thing, to charge up his Blade of Thunder. The sparks would emit, but they would be hardly visible what with the Oken in play, and would only be audible. As Jestar's dismembered top would fall towards the ground, the sparks would become more and more aggressive until his top hit the ground, still burning.

A large boom would emit from the sword, akin to a roar, that might would startle Athos, but mostly served to give a resounding final canon's blast as Jestar's life faded into the nethers. Shinigami would scoff at Jestar's quick end, but Jestar would reiterate that a double power move + poison = death even for the best of the fighters of the realm. The sparks faded, the sword no longer gleaming with life; the burning corpse lay motionless, convulsing one last time as if one last futile effort to make a handsign, before finally laying to rest, for good. Now for Athos to hobble on home and maybe die, well, that would call it a draw, but there was no victory for Jestar in even that scenario.

In the afterlife, meanwhile, Jestar would find himself in a famaliar scene; the Graveyard. Picking up his ethereal form from his supposed location, the red eyes and snarling growls of monsters reached his ghostly ears.

"Welp, I'm not going to get favor just standing around here!" And so, Jestar would float from his entry point to the Graveyard and set out to restrain rebellious and monstrous souls, all in the effort of winning favor from the lord of death, Shinigami, so as to have what remained of his body stitched back up by the black magic of that demon. It was as if he had gone through this task a dozen times before, and knew he might would have to go through it a dozen times more; it was a part of living life in the realm, dying, and he was not one to shirk. He missed being able to haunt his foes, but that worked both ways, and there were others who haunted far more deviously than Jestar could even imagine; he was a genjutsu user, so of course he has a very vivid imagination on his own!

The details of all of that, however, are a different story entirely, and may not even need to be told if Jestar succeeds with his shadow migration escape attempt.

It was an odd situation to be in, to say the least, especially for Athos. Even without having a heart in his body, he'd not fall victim to death. There was a plethora of reasons for this but all of them all came back to immortality. But even so, The man would take a resting seat before laying on his side, blood leaving his mouth as he tried to let out a sigh. It'd be weird to not have warm blood but still be alive... But for now he just wanted to recover, not worrying about the state that Jestar Nara currently. Athos' right hand would weave a few handseals and as he released a jutsu, he would wince and let out a long, slow groan. A space time barrier would stretch from around his form in two miles each direction, stopping Jestar from returning to the surrounding area assuming he'd even try such a thing.

But with Jestar unable to come back, that meant he'd have to appear outside the range and then attempt to land a death blow on Athos in his current state. At this point, it didn't matter if Jestar was alive or not, the redheaded man would not come after the man anymore. This would leave Athos the victor of this fight, even if the wounds Jestar suffered wouldn't kill him somehow in the end.

The bright light of Oken was still covering the immediate area, a chakra arm coming from Athos to hold the hilt of the weapon and keep the area bright and clear of any shadows, just in case. The Uzumaki's golden eyes would instead just watch the raging forest fire increase in size, letting out a pleased breath as he did.

The most appropriate way is sometimes he simplest. Athos had decieved himself into thinking that he had won; that would only work in Jesyar's favor. Of course as he stated, with that spacetime barrier up, Jestar would not be appearing right next to him to talk about the fight, not that Athos was in the talking mood no doubt.

Recovery might be a stretch for Athos, but what about Jestar? He had been non-fatally cut in near half, keeping himself from bleeding out at once by retreating to the Nara pocket dimension. The fight would only end upon concession or upon death, and neither word player was interested in surrender! But one character was nearly immortal and the other not, the cards stacked since the very beginning considering the win conditions.

As Athos would likely find it hard to breath from blood filling various bits of his chest cavity and growing weaker by the moment, Jestar's plan had sort of worked. Sort of. But it had not been enough to seal the win, and Jestar had not previously considered fighting Athos straight up instead of using trickery. After all, after his display, could he trick him again?

Likely lulled into a sense of security, given his situation it would likely be a matter of time before he either lowered the barrier or sheathed the sword, at which point the Nara could strike again. Athos no longer cared about Jestar, probably even dismissed him as dead, there would be no reason for him to indefinitely keep his guard up.

But to the devil should Jestar be sitting idle till then; Jestar would have to decide the most effective means of permanently keeping himself from croaking that did not involve shadows. Why? Well obviously that Oken would probably be drawn the moment Jestar made his move again, so stitching himself with shadows alone would be begging for defeat. Using a mixture of Raiton and Katon, Jestar screamed through the abyss as he cauterized his wound with intense heat. The ANBU did it bits at a time, his pain tolerance high, but not wanting to push it and pass himself out. Instead of the pain, he thought hard on his next move and the materials needed, and on monitoring "the shadow" for when his next opening would be.

He had materials placed here in the Nara dimension that would be helpful, mostly basic ninja tools that prior to now would have served as mostly nuisances to the hard nut that was Athos. Busting it would have been better served with the hand gestures of dust release rather than that of the release gesture.

Instead of a foe, time had now become a friend, and surrender was not an option. This fight would not end until Jestar, or Athos, was finished in some manner or another. Despite their respective claims, the longer the fight went on in stalemate, the more likely it was one of them would mess up again. And as Athos' character no longer even cared about his opponent, it was more likely he would slip first.

Athos had been content with the results, given his state but...

*Will you get up?*

A voice rang out in Athos' head, as the Nine-Tails spoke to him, though he simply tried to sigh again,"Why? He should be dead, or at least unable to return to the battlefield."
There was a scoff from the Beast as the male replied to him, he shook his head from inside his cave, changing the position he had been resting in,*You are reckless, that is why you are like this. Over confidence has gotten you here.* He let out another long breath as the color started to leave his lips as his blood was slowly coming to a complete halt,"I'm in pain, Kurama. I'm not some Jashin-finatic... My lord is the Shinigami..." And as if by some divine intervention, he felt a cold presence begin to creep up and upon his form.

For a moment, as it got colder and the feeling of death began to close around him, Athos thought there was a chance that he was going to die before looking down at his chest. Even with the shroud of the Nine-Tails around his form, in pure black ink appeared the kanji for Death, as a new power began to flow into Athos.

|To leave yourself in such a vulnerable and weak state, what a mistake Athos.| The new power flowed into Athos and the shroud of Kurama turned from the rust colored slowly to a mixture of the red chakra of Kurama and a sickly purple color, with splotches of black throughout it. The Raikon slowly rose to his feet, causing the blood in his form to shift towards his stomach but slowly a thin layer of bone seemed to appear around his form, forming a mask that would cover his face as well. It was eerily similar to the face of the Shinigami, a tooth grin on the mask with Athos' golden bright eyes shining on a black background. |You were wrong to ever deny my power and for that you've been put in such a pathetic state.|

A type of fear had grasped Athos when the Shinigami gave him his power and, for a short time, taken control of his body. For sure he thought that it was the end of his life, even if he was going to live forever thanks to the Shinigami, he had no way to take back control unless the Lord of Death would give it back to him. So with that, he would speak back from behind the mask, as firmly as he usually had though there was obvious the hint of respect in his voice as he spoke to the lord, even if he had distaste for him,"So this is how I lose my body, due to my... Carelessness?"

|So it would seem.| Even as the Shinigami casually replied to his question, his voice boomed and echoed in Athos head, something that made him wince for the first several years he served the Shinigami. Athos' body moved over to the remaining parts of Jestar's body and would reach down, extending his right hand downwards and tearing off one of the man's legs. It was an easy feature with his inhuman strength, increased by both Kurama and the Shinigami's power. With that, he'd hold the leg in his left hand and move back over to where Athos had coughed up and lost a large amount of blood.

The mask's mouth opened, showing no signs of Athos' own mouth and instead just the creepy sharp teeth of the mouth and with a blow to the gut, blood would rush up from where it built up and joined the amount on the ground. With the blood on the ground, he'd then use his feet to easily draw a symbol of another God on the ground. While the Shinigami had the ways to gather his own Sacrifices, it was impossible for him to use them without direct contact with the target. However, there was on Technique the God of Death had inserted into Athos' arsenal when the Shinigami had forced Athos under the tutelage of Jashin and his studies for some time, while there had been no leader.

With the symbol of Jashin in his own blood complete in the grass, the Shinigami kept control of the redhead's form. |Your body is mine, and if the boy is not dead, I will instead take his soul.| The Shinigami was going to use the technique of Jashin to kill the boy and attempt to hijack it before it could get to the other lord, it didn't really matter if the Shinigami could do it but he had never had the chance to test it. Athos hatred for Bocchiere had stopped him from personally using the signature technique, but that meant little for the Shinigami, who only thrived on death.

So with the same sharp teeth, the Uzumaki would've taken a disgusting bite out of the flesh of Jestar Nara, chewed it into mush and then swallowed it. With Oken still active thanks to Kurama, there was no need to worry about the Shadows as the Shinigami preformed the ritual, the unseen skin of Athos turning a dark black color with white outlines, the obvious signs that someone was activating the technique. With that, both his hands raised upwards and sparked with fierce lightning as the Shinigami called forth the Hell Stab on both Techniques, each finger spread faintly to create a One Finger Nukite on each finger, leaving out the thumbs leaving a total of Eight.

With that, right at his waist line, where Jestar was intact, the Shinigami would drive the fingers up to the second knuckle on each of them before tearing them upwards in a violent motion, stopping as he'd past where the heart was located. It mattered little where Jestar was or what he was doing because the wounds that Athos would have inflicted on himself would appear on the Nara. The wounds would tear at all of his internal organs, hitting the important ones and shredding them, from his stomach and guts, to his lungs, to eventually his own heart. The blood would pour and spurt out of Athos and onto the ground but the wounds would be inflicted on the boy and take his life almost instantly, though it'd be painful until the very end.

With that, Jestar Nara's soul would leave this realm and ascend into the Heavens, Athos falling to his knees. This wouldn't be because he was weakened, in the state he was currently in, he was already essentially dead so even without other forms of immortality, the wounds he inflicted would not end his life. They would start to heal already from the overload of healing powers Athos currently had active, which currently totaled in four. The only action requiring chakra throughout all of that being the Hellstabs at the end, though it still mattered little seeing with the Shinigami's help he'd be fine regardless. The Shinigami had the man on his knees to see if the boy would die, assuming he would, and then to see if he could steal the soul before Jashin claimed it.
