I can see this being useful, but there would have to be clear limits in place and an option for images to be disabled in user settings for those that do not want to be bombarded by images. Personally I will not use the feature, for this is a text based RP site and thus I write everything out.

I have been a member of SL for 6 years or so, and actually never once checked the forums until like a month ago when I decided to join because of all the posts on SL Village Boards advertising to check the forums regarding GM nominations. It was not till then that I found out quite a bit of RP takes place on the forums, which I honestly never thought happened at all where I always thought of the forums as a place to submit complaints and none of my complaints I ever had needed to be escalated past the in game petition system.

Just feels sort of wrong to me for RP to take place on the forum, but I can see the appeal for logging and tracking. Still though, I rather do everything on SL IC RP wise, it only feels right to me to do so. I do not have an issue though with others RP ing on the forums, that is totally up to them.

Village Square / Re: Ichirou names himself Godaime Amegake
« on: January 16, 2016, 11:13:58 AM »
Hmm.. this is a difficult debate where I can see and understand both arguments being made. On one hand, Ichirou creating a new clan and claiming the title of kage in order to have free reign in village RP and diplomacy would help reboot the village and fast track it onto the path of becoming active once again. On the other hand, the fact that Ichirou gets the title kage and all this freedom would justifiably leave a bitter taste in the mouths of those who spent a lot of time working up to earn that title through regular means or are currently striving now to one day obtain that title in a village already well established and active.

I personally believe every kage should be held to some sort of activity standard in upholding their rank if they are to still partake and be acknowledged in official RP as a kage in my honest opinion, though at the same time the process of someone taking over the rank of kage without prior consent from the one who currently holds the rank needs to be handled delicately and cannot simply take place outright as it currently has been regardless of any efforts made beforehand by the party claiming the title to justify their claim.

The only thing I can think of now where the current Kage is not all that active despite being a good guy, yet does not wish to give up his title to Ichirou or anyone else, is for a summit to be held and an official vote to take place with the members of the original Amegakure clan, or members of the forums, or between GMs, or just between the current kages of the other villages to either accept or reject the new village clan for all future village related RP and Diplomacy and to accept or reject Ichirou's claim to being the kage of this new village. Of course, to make things fair, anyone currently apart of Amegakure officially should have the option and invitation to also apply for the kage title as well and not just Ichirou and then a competition to be held with the winner chosen by most votes. Possibly have candidates put up applications or something so everyone involved in the voting can compare them.

Not only this, but I would also like to see a separate discussion take place around the idea of creating activity guidelines for all kage similar to the guidelines currently in place by biju holders but not nearly as extensive. Mainly just something where every kage should at least post some sort of RP once a week unless otherwise their inability to do so is made known of in advance here on the forums and/or in their clan hall with a specific time frame. Otherwise, they risk forfeit of their rank to anyone who wishes to claim it. Anyone claiming to take over would have to be voted on again, if more than one claims, the person claiming the title with the most votes win. Those claiming may post up an argument or application here on the forums showcasing why they should be choose to replace the inactive kage.

This is just an idea I'm tossing around to take care of the current dilemma while also possibly preventing future dilemmas where the current back and forth arguing taking place does not seem it will ever end where it's simply personal opinion vs personal opinion. An open vote with clear guidelines just seems like the only sensible option at this time to settle everything. Opinions?

Village Square / Re: Enhance your Mokuton with Tailed Beast Chakra
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:44:23 AM »
If you recall from the series, when Naruto first obtains the controlled kyuubi cloak, it was seen having an effect on the wood style technique causing it to spontaneously grow just by standing near it. When Naruto attacks some of the white Zetsus as well, they were overcame by the kyuubi's chakra and would spontaneously sprout into large trees once being slammed into the ground. So, I could see the argument of a tailed beast's chakra enhancing Mokuton, for better or for worse for the tailed beast holder depending on the circumstances if either they are attacking with Mokuton or if they are overcome and being contained by an opponent's Mokuton.

Interesting indeed, the fact the architecture is reportedly in good shape means they will be able to find a lot of information pertaining to this civilization. Ill look forward to reading the releases and seeing the images of the place.

I suppose regulation would be similar to the tailed beast regulations, as in only so many can have it at one time and those that hold it can be challenged for the ability.

I honestly could care less though, such powerful techniques bore me RP wise.

Feature Requests / Re: Free Up the Zones?
« on: January 06, 2016, 10:17:09 AM »
There's no reason for villages to have claim over certain zones. We can specify in the beginning of a fight something as simple as "near Kiri" and "near Kumo" to add a premise to it all.

Personally I agree with this, that is zones should not be owned by any village. It would constrain role playing at that point which is the exact opposite in regards to the original proposal and discussion being made by the OP.

So far I do not mind what happens to make zones more open and usable by members of the realm, be that removing the level requirements from upper zones, or just creating some additional zones flat out that are not level limited while still having some 'privileged' zones restricted to higher level Shinobi in the realm.

In the mean time though, it is nice to finally have access to the Sannin Rank Battle Zones myself because I'm able to RP my character events related to the Chuunin exams within them and thus keep the lower level zones open to those who just solely RP and do not level their characters at all.

"Keep the /game command in. ~" Was the command used for players to post something without their name being seen. The only thing that didn't include was the ability to remove other players posts and I don't think it should be given to the zone master so much as the person who posted it.

The zone master has the ability to already kick a player, but to have the power to remove AND edit someone's post(s)? That's too much.

These rps should be among friends. That's what the idea got started from. So if one does get cheeky and go rouge just kick them. Only mods have such power to remove posts and/or edit them. Should stay that way. What if the zone master goes rouge and decides to delete all the rp? That wouldn't be good. So /game given I, already as stated, am for. Just not deleting posts or editing someone's.

Ah, didnt know what the whole /game was for when it was initially mentioned despite how obvious it seems now.

Good points brought up regarding post edit/deletion.

This server moved on 24th, so it could be a delay-issue when the machine (entirely) was copied and went out of sync for a few hours.

Hopefully all well now. :)

That would make sense, good to know. I myself have no longer noticed the issue.  :)

How about Group PMs?

Oh, that would be a great idea as well. A reply and reply all would of course need to be included as well so side-conversations can take place and so that everyone does not get hammered by responses.

I have an additional function request that may or may not be possible to be implemented with the above already mentioned.

Would it be possible to give the discussed "Zone Master" temporary Game Master 'like' privileges to the zone that they are currently renting out (obviously not global)?

I ask this because it would allow the Zone Master true total control over the happenings in the zone. They can modify and remove RP posts deemed inappropriate or on request depending on the preset terms of the fight going in (which keeps the RP clean and smooth running, along with the respective logs). They can of course choose to hide their name and post real time events during the course of the RP, an example being a volcano zone that currently has a dormant volcano based on the preset description that was modified going in. During the course of the RP and power struggle between the nin fighting, the volcano erupts thus changing the entire environment and respective strategies the nin can utilize.

You get the gist of it. I feel this would be beneficial in a few different ways.

  • One, it would free up global Game Masters so they do not have to be called upon for every Private Zone battle that is requesting a third party to referee the match and/or spawn random events during the match, or allow whoever has an idea for their own RP event that may not be battle related to just go for it and do it themselves without having to describe their idea to a global GM and have them carry it out for them.
  • Two, it gives total control and creative freedom to the common player of the website.
  • Three, it could potentially be used as an additional means to gauge future applicants' qualifications for a GM position on the global site. After all, someone utilizing and properly carrying out all the aspects and features of Zone Master multiple times throughout a time span would be a more experienced candidate for Game Master after building up a good rapport.

Anywho, I agree with the OP's idea and all of the ideas that have been posted so far in response to the OP's idea. I figured I would toss in an idea myself.
