Title: Biju Council Elections #2
Post by: Eric on November 29, 2016, 04:21:20 PM
All of the most important topics for the Council, except for responsibilities to be frank, have been determined and voted on; the number of members and the number of members that can be jinchurikii has been established to be 7/2.

Since there are 8 candidates (forgot Kayenta in the member # vote thread), then the individual with the fewest votes will not be on the Council; if necessary, face-off rounds will follow if there are ties at the bottom.

Voters must select at least 2 candidates that they wish to see in the Council, but may choose up to 5

If a candidate must withdraw for one reason or another,  candidates are advised to withdraw no later than the second to the last day of the election in order to give time for people to switch around their votes. Vote changing is of course permitted in this setting. I strongly advise against lengthy discussions in this thread as it will make it harder to get an accurate count.

Without further ado, here are your candidates for the 2nd Cohort of the Biju Council in alphabetical order:

Ace---------10
Athos-------6
Dato--------5
Hades------3
Kamui------8
Kayenta----7
Shadow----9
Trev--------9

Voting starts 11/29 and goes until 12/9.

Ace, Athos, Dato, Hades, Kamui, Kayenta, Shadow, Trev

Yes, I voted for everyone. Why? Cause we/they are all good for the council. All will show up when they can. All will have good insight to the issues that occur. All will be unbiased. And if they are all voted in, then we are very likely to have enough people to take care of any issue at any given time and not be hit with inactivity in the face.

With at least 5 members voting, and a majority vote decides, left over members would take a lot of the stress away.

But if I have to choose...

here it comes. Though I strongly advise for just naming them all to the council.

Ace
Kamui
Kayenta
Shadow
Trev

Athos, Dato, Hades:  Sorry guys but the inactivity is the only reason I can't vote you in. If your lives permitted the level of activity this council has to have, then I would not even run.

Ace, Athos, Trev, Kayenta, and Dato seem like a pretty good mix.

I'm voting for LightningX, Varu, Lebis, Court, and Dizzy.

No write-ins.  :P

Vote tally counted up. Someone or two or three check my math just to be certain.

With seven open positions, I will vote for seven. =)

All others have my vote, not including myself.

The previous election, we have 5 open positions and 5 votes to cast. I forgot to increase that vote cast number to take into account that we have 7 open positions this time.

So, to keep from having to  doa  massive recount, IF you want to vote for more people (say you voted for 5 but wanna go all the way to 7) then just post the ADDITIONALLY people that you want to vote for.

Then I vote for everyone!

(Including myself; unless that's still not allowed. Still waiting to see that addressed.)

So like, if I understand this correctly, there can only be two jinchs in the council? Well, if the vote ended today, Shadow, Athos, and I  would be in. So, how would you solve that? Lowest one gets voted out, and the last person in votes replaces said jinch?

If that's the case, mine as well just has a vote between us three and let everyone else in >>

Edit:
This also assumes Kamui doesn't win the mazo. Meaning if he and us are elected, four members have an active stake in the biju/mazo

Oh yeah, that's why there were only 5 options to begin with. Not that it seems to have helped.

Well, I think a face-off round had been planned, but the one with the lowest votes getting booted is about as effective. Alternatively, one of the 3 jinchs could just give up the biju if he wants to be on the Council more than he wants to be a jinchurikii.

And yes Dato, you can vote for yourself.

There are 8 candidates and 7 total options that you could choose from. You can vote for yourself just like in the last election, but you can't vote for all 8 candidates.

I can and I will vote for everyone involved, including myself. Because it's tallied by vote and the individual with the lowest is not elected this round. Therefore, I don't want it to see as if I *have* to choose particular individuals because everyone selected will add their own flavor and insight to each discussion that the council will have to handle.

... Therefore, I don't want it to see as if I *have* to choose particular individuals because everyone selected will add their own flavor and insight to each discussion that the council will have to handle.

If everyone did that, what would be the point in voting or having an election? The whole point of the election, instead of just ascending the volunteers from jumpstreet, is to have peole choose the candidates that they like best. Making everyone choose fewer than the total candidates makes it so that a preference is established.

To vote for everyone including yourself hardly counts as a vote, as it increases everyone by 1; it has no effect on the overall balance of the count, no effect on who is winning and who is losing. It is, to put it bluntly, as effective as not voting at all to vote for absolutely everybody possible.

Shadow, the jinchurikii with the lowest vote might get booted if there are more jinchs on the Council than permitted by the rules.

As long as Kamui doen't get the gedo or what-have-you then 3/7 is allowed for jinks.

It's a good thing that not a lot of people did that then. 😘

No, it was voted on for 2/7, not 3/7. If I recall correctly, the jinks are Athos, Shadow, and Trev. One jinch has to either step down and not be a Council Member, a run-off round needs to happen, or the lowest votes jinch gets the boot.

They are still be a minority, it's all good.

No, actually, it is not "good".

It was voted on that there would only be 2 jinchs on the Council, not simply a minority, so there should only be 2 jinchurikii Council members.

I voted for 3-4 << but nooooooooooooooo...

Anyway, I guess that means I'll gracefully step down. I do have the lowest amount of votes out of all the jincks.

So that means Hades gets it automatic, though I haven't seen him around lately.

Well, regardless... Yeah. I'll just do that, not much else we can do o.o

I would rather see someone who is active (Athos) and posts his opinions, thoughts, and generates RP on the main game than someone I don't even know or ever see online (Hades) save for the few times he edited the wiki.

The 2nd Cohort should be made of active people. Don't want it to die like the 1st did.

All of us want that. However, the rules say that only 2/7 Council Members can be jinchurikii. The issue, obviously, is that even one Council members get a biju with the current slots taken, it's going to create a bit of a mess. Council Members who are not jinchs probably have to be banned from participating in biju matches period (if they aren't already).

So, more than just us three, what are everyone's thoughts on how this can be worked out? Other than "ignore the rules" please. "Change the rules" or "make some new ones" is more the direction we need to go here.

First, we need an official announcement on who won the 2nd Election. Make that a sticky note for all to see in the Council sub-group.

After that, a proposed amendment to the original ruling can be drafted up (by yours truly) and the new cohort can begin with as their first topic of true discussion.

Seeing as Athos willing step down among the jinchs, then the 2nd Cohort is as follows:

Ace
Dato
Hades
Kamui
Kayenta
Shadow
Trev

Congratulations to our new cohort! Make sure you all stay up to date with things; I can say from firsthand experience that it can be quite the doozy.

@ Those who have pointed out my lack of activity:

I am still here. I log in regularly, check out clan stuff on the main site, make sure the hot wiki stuff (beasts/claims) are updated, and read all forum posts.

I am fully up to date, despite not necessarily hanging around for hours, because I am at university and don't have hours to shoot the breeze here, much as I might like to.

In some threads asking for thoughts/opinions, there are times when I am indifferent and therefore don't say anything. I believe in speaking for constructive purposes. If I can't contribute something useful, why waste space with a comment, yeah?

If there is a vote called for, I vote.

tl;dr I log in. I am here. I am active. Even if you and I don't personally have hour-long conversations when I pop in.

This. 16 credits and basically a full-time job don't give you a lot of free time. I still kept myself active, even if I wasn't directly involved unless needed.

Best of luck to the new group. Build on what we did, but do it better, I guess?
