Title: A Bit Different Way? .. Maybe?
Post by: Cinnamon Cherry on September 30, 2007, 04:03:26 PM
I have searched in Search Engine about this, but I don't think that'll answer my question, so I made a new topic. I hope it's okay.. ^-^;
I was just wondering..
I want to donate about 25$ or more. But the thing is, my Father doesn't trust PayPal at all. So I decided to donate via mail. But here in my country (located in South East Asian), the mail man is cannot be trusted because they could just steal the money away if I just put it on an envelope..  :( And the chance of losing the money is quite.. big.
My Father said, he will send the money to U.S. using the other way instead just sending the money in an envelope. The thing is, the way it sends money is a bit different.  It's called Western Union, and I think it's just like transferring the money to U.S.. My Father told me that Baluski-san will be confirmed about the money. It's just like receiving a package from another country.
Buut, that means Baluski-san must go to the post office or the bank..
I will ask my Father more about this later, but the problem is, it will be troublesome to Baluski-san.. So I don't think it's not good to trouble people just for my donation.. ._.;
But I just want to ask if donating this way is permitted.. And I want to ask the others who has experienced with about this too.. I thought that maybe they can brought me a new suggestion..
Thank you for paying attention to this..  And sorry for my English.. I think it's pretty bad..  :oops:

You should get a mail order or something, that way if the stupid mailman does steal it you can just go to the post office and give your check to get your money back

Western Union is a decent way. The recipient has to show passport etc at their branch and gets the money.

if Baluski agrees, we can do it this way. It's safe, as far as I know, but I am uncertain of the fees Western Union will charge.

@check
<$20 the fees will be about the value of the check, so I would not resort to checks in international transfers.

Ah I see.. so I have to wait for what Baluski-san will say about this.. But if I'm still can't send it this way, I think I'll send it manually. ^-^;

Erm, I've never used western union before, it's probably not a great idea.

I think you should not really pack money into mail, especially when it needs to cross an ocean.

Western Union is a matter of the fees, you should ask it first.

And how the handling is, and post it.
@Baluski
From what I know, if there is a Western Union branch nearby, you can simply drop by with your passport/ID card and collect the money.

I wish it would be the same story like Disharmony-san, just pack the money and it will go through.. .-. But I  really doubt that..
About the fees for Western Union, my father said I should not worry because he will pay it.
I only can rely on Western Union but I think it will troubles Baluski-san since he didn't like the idea.. >.<;

 :-? well, it depends on Baluski, though.

Your fathers pays them, which is nice. Though he should not pay more than you transfer (no idea about the fee setup there).

I'm still going to have to say no, I really don't want to deal with western union. Is there one in Germany?

Yes, the nearest I know is about 50 kilometers away.

if he donates $20, it is about the cost for my car going there ;)

The nearest Western Union is eight blocks for me though I haven't use it in awhile...
I imagine I can do it then inform Neji about it then input it via paypal or however Neji wants it. :|

Hm, I can do it then.
It's near my local grocery store so the trip doesn't hurt me on gas.  :oops:

Yes, you can have great hope.
I just need to get some info on how I need to approach this and when you feel like you are ready to donate just let me know beforehand.
I know from Western Union you need the sender's info and etc.
