Village Square / Technology Progression
« on: May 23, 2015, 03:10:13 AM »
So with the series continuing on a bit with the gaiden and Boruto's movie, do you guys believe we should start incorporating some technological advancements that they have made in the manga into the series?

Village Square / Kekkei Genkai Limitations
« on: May 10, 2015, 01:50:49 PM »
So the growing trend of "Resets =/= RP" has been giving people a good +1 and more. It's been allowing people to excel at a better pace than going by just resets alone. I've been a bit lenient here and there with some of this. Though there have been small cases of advancing stupidly-fast, which I will not name out here.

Though here's something that I thought of: What keeps someone from going the Kabuto or Hiruko route in order to gain multiple Kekkei Genkai? Furthermore, what would keep someone from not only having Sage Mode, but also the Rinnegan? I actually fall under the latter, since I currently have Sage Mode and have the ability to awaken the Rinnegan whenever I want.

Resets always served as a psuedo-limiter to how many KG one could have. But now that we're throwing them out as a guideline, what are we going to go by now, other than it being subjective based upon what someone is willing to allow or void? A more disturbing question: What's to keep someone from starting out at (manga or SL) kage-level power if we're going to make things subjective?

Feature Requests / Expansions
« on: January 03, 2015, 10:08:22 PM »
So with SL being around for ten years now, I think it's about time that a few small things get updated. Technology has literally advanced ten years since it's conception. 2005 to 2015, and we're on the verge of making VR a thing, with AR already being pretty common for those who can afford it. Let that sink in a bit.

Character limits
Right now, character limits are as follows.
250 for short bios
800 for additional (if I remember correctly)
25 for eye and hair color
250 for posting
25 for custom titles

I believe that these should be expanded a bit now, since even a fine toaster can browse SL now. Heck, a Raspberry Pi ($35 mini-computer) can browse SL faster and easier than a 2005 comp. Here are my proposals for character expansion.

500 for short bios
2000 for additional
50 for eye and hair color
750 for posting (or maybe 1000, but either one will help to spur on RP, which will help to spur activity)
50 for custom titles

Some of these and others I failed to mention are negotiable with the community.

Bio avatar limits
260x260 is the current limit, and has always been. This is fine for back in 2005 when monitors were 1280x960 or anywhere near that resolution. But now the average desktop computer usually has a 1920x1080 monitor. Even smartphones have a greater resolution than 2005 monitors. I believe that a new limit should be put. My suggestion would be 500x500, but even I'm iffy on what a good size would be.

Opinions and other suggestions are open for discussion, which is highly encouraged.

Village Square / Byakugan -> Tenseigan
« on: December 20, 2014, 03:16:48 AM »
Somebody is bound to bring it into play, so we might as well talk about it now. Especially since the official databook that goes along with the movie has been translated and brought more information on the following two things.

http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Tenseigan

http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Tenseigan_Chakra_Mode

In short, for those with short attention-spans, the Tenseigan is equal to the Rinnegan in terms of power. You're literally on Madara's level with it is what it states too. And the Tenseigan Chakra Mode is equal to the Nine-tails Chakra Mode. The Truth-Seeking Balls are also apparently usable while in this state, and are a glowing green instead of just the normal black as well.

Talk about a huge power leap for the Hyuuga/Otsutsuki. They went from nearly-irrelevant (when put in comparison to the abundance of powers and abilities that the Uchiha/Senju have at their disposal), to equal or greater status.

So The Last: Naruto the Movie came out over the weekend in Japan, and one of the things which viewers get upon entering (on a first come, first serve basis) is a little booklet that details the movie and acts somewhat like a small databook as well.

http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Retsu_no_Sho
Raw scans of the book
http://tieba.baidu.com/photo/p?kw=%BB%F0%D3%B0%C8%CC%D5%DF&tid=3451578080&pic_id=7abfc9fcc3cec3fd0bb19c3cd588d43f8694271d&pn=1&see_lz=0#!/pid7abfc9fcc3cec3fd0bb19c3cd588d43f8694271d/pn1

You know how the Sharingan has all those special powers, and then even more special ones after evolving to the Rinnegan? Well the Byakugan can do that too, making the Tenseigan. And apparently, it grants the user the ability to use the Tenseigan Chakra Mode. About nine page-turns into the booklet, you can see it and the chakra mode on Toneri's page. He gained it by taking Hanabi's Byakugan (more eye-snatching shenanigans) and using them as his own.

What I'm trying to get around to is, this introduces a new balance to those who've gone down the Byakugan path. Don't know the full details of what specific powers this mode grants, but it's enough to go toe to toe with Naruto's Nine-tails Chakra Mode in terms of power. This chart I've made below (and the Tenseigan svg/png, as according to how it appears in the databook) ought to help in understanding what the evolution curve is.

I went and named the specific chakra the Tensei Chakra, as opposed to the Six Paths chakra that forms when Uchiha and Senju chakra become mixed. (There's also the Six Paths Sage Chakra that forms when you mix in some Natural Energy, but that's a fork in the road decision we usually have people make, in choosing between Rinnegan or Sage Mode.)

So why exactly did I bring this all up? Like I said before, this could be a power-up and new path for Hyuuga/Ōtsutsukis that want to go with further special eye hacks, instead of Sage Mode. Or if they do want to go down the Sage Mode path, then they have the opportunity to utilize the Tensei Sage Chakra, just as there is the Six Paths Sage Chakra. It's just a suggestion, even if we don't know the full abilities of the Tenseigan yet.

Village Square / Kage-level Power/Chakra
« on: August 21, 2014, 11:28:21 PM »
So I see all these kids tout and spout that their power is equal to, or even more daring, sometimes greater, than Kage-level. But what does this mean?

I just want a bit of input on what exactly denotes "Kage-level power/chakra" and what exactly the claim alludes to. Are they alluding to being as powerful as the current canon kage in the series (Tsunade, Mei, Gaara, A and Onoki)? Or are they saying that they're just as skilled, powerful and have just as much chakra as current and near-recent SL Kage?

Here's my input on this.

If they're claiming the first, then they're not really "kage-level" since we've already past the point that nearly all of the current SL kage are past the level of the canon five kage. We're actually around or just above Madara and Hashirama level. If they're claiming the latter, then it's just laughable that someone would even suggest so.

http://narutoprofile.wikia.com/wiki/Kage

Just go through each of their bios. There are barely any others who can amount to what they can do, except for probably their recent predecessors. And even those guys were pretty strong enough.

Or maybe this is just everyone trying to compare themselves to me, because then I would have the bittersweet feeling of being flattered and disgusted. Flattgusted.

Village Square / Just a statement out here.
« on: June 07, 2014, 07:40:19 PM »
Was busy yesterday and I only now was able to check out the thread with a 17 hour posting window about Ototon stuff and the broken discussion about it.

But yeah, this had me thinking on if the claims to other such village-specific or clan-specific techniques would fall under the same deal. I mean, my own village has it's very protective and secretive techniques that we try our best to keep under wraps to only specific individuals (Paper Ninjutsu), which has been shown to be a set of canon techniques, with a few custom ones thrown in with it that we claim. There have been one or two individuals which had it before, but they were cool with it and we made room for them under the blanket with us.

But we've made it specific that just because someone joins our village, it doesn't mean that they are automatically GRANTED permission to use our techniques. Same goes for people who "claim" that they used to be Amegakure shinobi and because of that, know how to use Paper Ninjutsu in their history.

We've even gone as far as to make a list of official users of our Paper Ninjutsu techniques, which we've classified as an Amegakure Hiden. But this other thread concerning Ototon has me concerned about it's safety in Hiden-ness, and other techniques from other villages and clans. I'm sure a few Uzumaki from the Uzumaki Clan would be a bit ticked too if it turns out that certain canon seals/techniques turned Hiden were to be out in the open too.

So yeah, what's up with that?
