Village Square / Re: Does chakra really matter?
« on: March 29, 2016, 12:19:58 AM »
It really depends on what a person classifies themselves as. Like they can say they're of kage-level power and chakra reserves, but that usually implies the ones from the series. Our current kage and other notable individuals have already far-exceeded that.

I just go with saying I have a stupidly-massive chakra reserve because of Senju, Uchiha, Six Paths Chakra, Tailed Beast Chakra and seniority hacks. I do some physical training to up my Physical Energy, and meditate to up my Spiritual Energy too.

I haven't really seen the chakra candy bars, pills, etc. thing gone out of hand, since logically they'll only replenish a certain amount of chakra. Realistically when it comes to consuming stuff, it should only help replenish your Physical Energy. Calming yourself down and gathering your thoughts through that or some quick meditation would help replenish your Spiritual Energy.

I would want people to just keep in mind that 20% of their chakra may only amount to 5% of another's chakra, before chakra-type-enhancing multipliers go into effect.

Actually, it's pretty canon that people can go straight into it. Naruto and Minato did it easily in chapters 535 and 665. You can count Jugo and his entire clan for that too for obvious reasons, though their issue is more-over self-control of their own intake and expulsion of it.

Like I said before though, some of these nerfs are silly. Most notably the one where those who are of Jugo's clan MUST become crazy and all. When contrary to this purposed nerf, Jugo can be chill even in the use of his Senjutsu-fueled abilities. It takes a lot of self-control, but it's possible.

Well the whole "senjutsu > ninjutsu" thing is sort of the whole point of it. Otherwise it wouldn't be a power-up in the first place. Same thing with the Rinnegan and the Sharingan.

If we're really talking about nerfs, then let's bring up the Rinnegan too. It's chakra consumption and power is already stated to be too much for most people who get it implanted to use. Even for Obito who was a Uchiha and has Hashirama's genes composing half his body, could only handle just one Rinnegan and even went as far as to use it minimally. Naturals get a pass on most aspects of it though.

Back to the topic, putting a numerical value to the time it takes to absorb Natural Energy and the length of which one can be in Sage Mode based on it would be an across the board nerf for any and all users of Sage Mode. It's like saying "Hey, I know you've had Sage Mode mastered to a really good extent, but now all that doesn't count anymore." I myself claim to be able to jump into it instantaneously, since I've had claimed to have it for a long while and went even further beyond mastery to study Natural Energy and it's applications.

But the whole "1 turn gathering = 2 turns active" thing is silly to begin with. Naruto's Sage Mode can last a really long time if he doesn't continually spam Rasengan and Rasenshuriken. And Senninka users are indefinite on being able to stay in their transformations. With enough self-control and skill, even they can become like Jugo and stay pretty chill for a long while. Dude didn't even randomly stab Sasuke in the back while riding in his Susanoo and fueling him with Senjutsu Chakra.

Village Square / Re: Quantifying SL (Part one) Jutsu Chakra - Rank Chakra
« on: February 18, 2016, 11:20:46 PM »
Not that I'm really pushing for this system, but there is a very clear difference in power between Naruto kage-level and SL kage-level. Just remember that if the top scales higher, then the rest below are sure to scale a bit higher in comparison to the series' counterparts.

The Sage Mode 3x multiplier applies to how much stronger normal jutsu would be under the influence of being fueled by Senjutsu Chakra, as opposed to normal Chakra. This is actually a lower multiplier than the original 5x that was proposed.

But yeah, Senjutsu is stated to be another dimension of power, exceeding that of regular chakra. So it's really no surprise if Senjutsu beats out Ninjutsu at all. That's just another part of the lore that people have to deal with. Just like how if you're born into one of five special clans that descended from aliens, you've got a one-up in various different forms. And it's even more-so if you're a hybrid or have gone through blood transfusions to gain some of their passive perks.

Just because it's unfair that a regular shinobi has to go toe-to-toe against a more experienced one who sports the Sharingan, doesn't mean that the latter has to make things fair and close their eyes while tying a hand behind their back.

Quantified stats in the form of numbers may seem like a good idea, but not for SL. I can guarantee that you'll only make the strong even stronger, and the weak even weaker.

Attempting to quantify into numbers the power of enhancement of the Tailed Beasts is only asking for various other things to be quantified as well.

Like Perfect Susanoo, that simply chops through two mountains just by drawing it's sword.
http://www.mangastream.to/naruto-chapter-589-page-8.html

Some might even take Madara's words as fact in saying that the power of the Tailed Beasts pales in comparison to it.
http://www.mangastream.to/naruto-chapter-589-page-10.html

And then there's the fact that Madara combines his Susanoo with Kurama
http://www.mangastream.to/naruto-chapter-622-page-4.html
http://www.mangastream.to/naruto-chapter-622-page-6.html

Naruto and Sasuke do this too, and completely wipe through Sage of Six Paths Obito with it
http://www.mangastream.to/naruto-chapter-652-page-18.html

There's also the fact that Sage Art Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands was able to ward-off multiple Tailed Beast Balls fired-off by Susanoo-enhanced Kurama
http://www.mangastream.to/naruto-chapter-627-page-6.html

Those with the Six Paths Chakra and Six Paths Sage Chakra will also want the quantification treatment

So what's my overall power multiplier like with my stats?
Six Paths Sage Chakra + Perfect Susanoo Sage Mode = x50?
Takehaya Susanoo (Six Paths Sage Chakra + Perfect Susanoo + Six Paths Sage Chakra-enhanced Wood Release: Wood Human Technique) = x100?

I think we should accept that Sage Mode > normal mode, since it's stated to be a different dimension of power. This is an even stronger point when it comes to the fact that only those that perform Senjutsu could actually hurt Sage of Six Paths Obito and Madara. (Six Paths Chakra in Sasuke's case allowed him to hurt Madara too.)

Just keep using a bit of intuition and logic to say what is stronger than something else, because some of us are good at slapping things together to make an even bigger multiplier for ourselves. Otherwise literally kicking someone to the moon is within the realm of possibility.

To make things official and to avoid future problems, I concede to the challenger and recognize him as the winner due to my own inactivity.

His eyes scanned as much detail as it possibly could, taking note of the faded skin and cracks upon his opponent's body. This was the general sign of shinobi necromancy. As Kage stood still, he could surely feel the flow of Natural Energy in the area draw towards Trev as well. It was known that the Yondaime Otokage was of the clan which could passively absorb it and make use of an unstable transformation similar to Sage Mode.

Seeing that his opponent hasn't made the first move, Kage would do so himself. A hand seal was formed and the uprooting of thick tree branches would erupt from the ground. A thicker one would carry himself upwards. A small forestation of trees and branches would be made in a 10 meter radius around the Amekage with him being atop the sprouted trees, though slightly concealed by branches and leaves. While within this, another hand seal would form and spawn two Wood Clones beside himself. The clones would make use of the branches and slide down them with chakra concentrated under their feet towards the Otokage.

Walking into the plains for the match called out by the challenger, Kage would enter in his usual attire and his Gunbai strapped to his back. His eyes would also have his Sharingan active, just as a simple preparation that many would Uchiha make.

(Had a bit of confusion in what deferring meant.)

My opponent has challenged me and acknowledged the following preferences below

Summoner: Kage Uchiha

Affiliation: Amegakure

Acquired: 10/2 by inheritance from Ichirou. Grace Period ends 10/9.

Battle Method: OOC Death-match

Preferred Outlet: Plains

Judge(s): TBD

Conditions:

- What happens in the OOC match stays in the OOC match. Losing of items, abilities, limbs, etc. is not carried to your IC circumstances. The same goes for gaining.

- You must have a biography/profile detailing what abilities and techniques you have, which includes your mastery in your abilities. Techniques used that are not listed in your profile will be voided. The same will go for notable skills and abilities not explained in your profile. Exceptions for this are General Skills, such as Tree Climbing Practice or Water Surface Walking Practice. Simple nature manipulation such as producing a small gust of wind to re-balance yourself or causing some water to flow into your mouth to drink is fine as well. Combining techniques on the fly, such as using a wind technique to empower a fire, is also exempt from this.

- Custom techniques must have articles or pages detailing them, enough to justify their usage. If they are too over-powered beyond the abilities of canon techniques or too character-controlling, they will be voided.

- Both parties are able to surrender whenever they wish during battle.

- Both parties (Or teams depending on the number of combatants) reserve the right to boot a Judge one time if they feel the judge is biased or unjust, and then discuss and select a new judge.

- All participants have up to 3 days (72 hours) to post. Failure to post within the time frame will be a loss. Real life situations that call for an extended leave of abscence beyond 3 days can be extended to 5 days (120 hours). Failure to post within the 5 days counts as a loss. In the event that the challenger loses by this, their challenge cool-down time will be reduced from the standard 3 months to 2 weeks.

- In the event of my own loss, the challenger shall agree to inherit my challenge list. Granted, the remaining challengers on the list reserve the right to rescind their challenge in the event of a change of possession of the Tailed Beast.

Voids:
- Auto-hitting techniques
- Swift Release
- Izanami
- Kotoamatsukami
- Inescapable Kamui
- Bearing both Sage Mode + Rinnegan, or Sage Mode + Tenseigan
- Sage Mode + bearing the perks of Sage Transformation without the usage of Strange Transmission Distant Shadow
- Manipulation of time itself
- Kekkei Mōra
- Filler techniques that are deemed too powerful and/or surpass canon-equivalent techniques
(Note: This is a list of voids I could come up with off the top of my head. Others may be added within discussion of the challenge or later.)

Current Challengers
None

Past Challengers
- Kamui (Conceded due to RL issues; Two-week cool-down period granted)

Preferences are subject to change.

After accepting the above publicly, I'll be allowing him the choice to perform the first post or not.

I think we're exaggerating casuals a bit too much here. And there's really what seems to be three levels here instead of two: enthusiasts, casuals and basics.

The enthusiasts invest more time and effort in what they do in a variety of ways. The lore is deeply known by them, and can easily be referenced by them off-hand. They take RP matters and order more seriously.

Casuals tend know enough of the lore to establish their characters to fit into the village system and RP system we go by. If they need help though, they tend to ask enthusiasts on a few matters here and there.

Basics are just that. They know what RP is, but usually like to be quick and short about it. Some even go their own way, and establish themselves as someone just as ancient and powerful as Hagoromo, sometimes even more powerful just because they have the liberty to do so with text.

Back to the topic on-hand, I don't think creating a whole separate list would play out very well. Maybe if a Tailed Beast is literally split in RP into Yin and Yang halves, that would be a different story. But even that would still be something noted on the current list.

Anybody could say they're the Sage of Six Paths or Kaguya Otsutsuki herself. Or perhaps of immediate family to some canon character, even if there's already someone playing with mentioned canon character and has never interacted with that player. Or even mention an event or canon character's actions in the series, but one that never occurred in SL's history itself. Maybe they happen to be of high rank or authority in a certain village, while never interacting with said village's members or kage.

Point is, casuals aren't the problem here. Basics aren't really causing a problem either in this situation, as both enthusiasts and casuals usually see their claims to not be in line with the mainstream RP. A Tailed Beast is certainly a responsibility that not everyone can handle, and is usually in the hands of someone who is not only active, but also a cut above the rest in RP in general. Not everyone will end up as equals in terms of position and power. There has and always will be less people at the top. Though the bottom isn't an area where people are starving and dying in terms of RP. (Maybe if you want to write your character like that for the sake of RP, it's still your choice to have them go through that.)

I do think everyone can get to resolving things, though not everyone really wants to in the same way. But that's always been a core mechanic of conflict.
