Yo, is this game dead now or what?

Village Square / Humanoid Summons
« on: August 21, 2018, 11:56:02 PM »
So, it's a simple question. Is there any rule against having a summon that is humanoid? This might seem weird, but I was trying to brainstorm certain concepts to increase diversity in my characters, and a new type of summon was one that I came up with. Looking through the different beasts that were claimed, I see things like Golems, Oni, and apes. All of these can be custom made to appear human, with the qualities of their particular class. The most prevalent example would be monkeys. Enma is essentially just a regular ninja with a lot of hair and a tail.

So would anyone care if someone made - oh lets say - merfolk? I realize that there are individuals and techniques that create what may as well be merfolk already (Kisame is the prime example) but that's why I'm just using this as a rough outline. Most summons at base are sophisticated enough to have entire cultures, like the toads or whatever custom animals people have come up with. So would it be that big of a deal to create a summon that while shaped like a human, retain qualities that clearly make them different?

Council / Potential inactivity: Jay Nara
« on: July 13, 2018, 01:11:16 AM »
I'm posting this to bring attention to the fact I can't find any public activity of Jay, the current host of the two tails. I have checked the Villages, and the Fight zones through Sannin level. If anyone can provide evidence of Jay posting somewhere I may have missed, please do, otherwise I would like to motion for a strip.

Village Square / When Succ meets another Succ
« on: April 03, 2018, 12:46:08 AM »
This is a topic that probably should have happened a long time ago, but we lacked any cannon evidence to formulate a proper response anyway, So perhaps it’s only natural that this discussion were to happen now, only weeks after the Manga gave us the best possible example of this happening, and the results of such.

The particular event that I am referring to is when two chakra absorption techniques come into contact with one another.

In my opinion, this is something the community has tiptoed around for a long time, with how unsure people are of what exactly would happen when an event like this occured. In the past, I have generally requested that the two cancel one another out, that way we don’t have to go into very detailed longistics of technique mechanics. Obviously there was a degree of common sense when observing this; Like if a single droplet of Kirisame touched a preta path barrier, it wouldn’t result in cancellation, because Preta path was obviously far stronger than that one droplet.

Much to my surprise, in the most recent chapter of Boruto (chapter 21; page 39/40), my general assumption was confirmed when two techniques produced by the newly introduced ninja tool technology clashed, resulting in complete cancellation of both. This was a great leap in our understanding of technique mechanics, because the only previous example we could draw from was when Hashirama used Wood Dragon to bind Madara, and stop him from using preta path. The glaring issue with this was within the technique’s ability as a whole. The Wood Dragon jutsu has the preexisting feature of negating other chakra absorption techniques. This, in my opinion, is the only reason it was able to stop the preta path. Mind you, this is a feature that the Dragon already had, pre Rinnegan introduction, because Hashirama was using this technique well before Madara attained the Rinnegan, considering he didn’t unlock it until he was already dying of old age. I only mention that to crush the possible idea that Hashirama specifically made the wood dragon to counter that barrier, which may come up in later discussion.

When taking this into consideration, I believe chapter 21 has provided the only viable example we have for this situation, which brings us to the question I’m about to propose:

Does the community agree with my thesis? That when two absorption techniques of similar power clash, they result in complete nullification of one another.

When discussing this with Kamui, he believes the chapter was not a solid enough example to assume this is what happens when all chakra absorption techniques come into contact, but I disagree. He made mention that it was likely an isolated incident, only occurring because the two techniques used were identical.

As a community, we have accepted more with less evidence. Such as the summation that Rinnegan was obtained because of the merging of Senju and Uchiha cells, which was debunked later, yet still applied within the mechanics of our game for ease of access. With the increased number of chakra eating abilities within SL, it only makes sense that we should use this prominent example as impromptu law to avoid conflict in the future. I assert that this is a fine outcome, and can be applied in multiple situations without any greif, only leaving the question of technique quality to be determined on a case by case basis.

I welcome someone to challenge this assertion.

Jinchūriki: Rusaku Otsutsuki

Tails Mastered: N/A

Affiliation: Konohagakure/Otsutsuki Clan/The Foundation

Preferred Method: IC Hunt; 1v1

Preferred Zone: Surface of the Moon (OOC only)

Preferred Judges: Warren/Tobias/Miyuu/Up for discussion

Preferred Outlet: SL Forum

Special rules

-The match is to be a 1v1 death match, if the preferred method was agreed to be IC. However the match will be defaulted to OOC, if that player doesn't agree to *IC* terms of engagement.

-Victory for the challenger is the defeat of the host through any means necessary, and vice versa. Death in the fight does NOT equate to death IC, unless such a term was agreed upon.

-Skills acquired during an OOC match are not carried over IC. Similarly, knowledge of participants' abilities do NOT carry over to IC RP.

-*If, by some chance, the match should reach a point of true stalemate after a minimum of 30 days then a judge may be called in to determine a winner based on how the fight has progressed up to this point. Both participants must request this of the judge in person (I.E. Both fighters MUST send a PM for this option.] If this is chosen, then the judge may declare a  winner based on these criteria:

     • Who effectively manipulated the flow of the battle the best? The strategy employed (based on the posts) may have been defensive and attrition-based, but was it effective in the long run in wearing down the opponent?

     • What caused the stalemate? The challenger being unable to defeat the challenged, or vice versa? Is it constant cancellation of jutsu and techniques by both sides, or merely one side taking refuge in a relatively inaccessible area (such as pocket dimension) in order to avoid defeat entirely?

     • Who showed the greatest skill in the fight? This is completely and utterly at the discretion of the judge. His(her) decision is final on the matter, regardless of accusations of cheating or bribery or otherwise. This should be kept in mind when deciding on a judge for the fight.

-If neither side can be conclusively declared the winner, then the fight either proceeds or a draw is declared. In the case of a draw, the challenger may rejoin the queue of challengers after the latest challenger without having to wait for cool-down (this circumvention for the benefit of the challenger for not technically being declared the loser, though by not succeeding the host can be considered a winner in this situation.)
Note, this is a technical victory for the host, so unless the challenger truly believes that a restart is necessary to increase victory chances, then it is not recommended to settle for a draw without reviewing this process a second time.

-Must post at least once every seven days (168 hours). Though if a pattern of postings persists (I.E. If either player stretches their posting to the full seven days each and every post without prior notification to the other), then the challenge will be voided. The cool-down will be initiated to challenger (if challenger is problem) and the host will be stripped (if host's activity is problem).

- A judge *must* be picked before or during the first round of initial entrance posting by both parties, if the chosen judge makes a ruling that is deemed ridiculous by either party, a new judge may be chosen ONCE by either side. If the matter still can't be settled, it must be brought to the forums for a final decision.

-Everyone is allowed 1 repost. If you are found to be meta gaming, Retro posting, or God modding, the opposition is allowed to request your post be analyzed by the judge. If he/she decides the post contains any of those three things, your repost will be used to fix it. If your repost has already been used, then the actions effected by the illegal maneuver will be nullified and the opposition will be able to act accordingly. Example: If you try to counter an attack using meta game knowledge, the counter will have never happened and the opponent will be able to continue unhindered, likely resulting in a legal autohit.

-Can only use skills that are known IC at the official start of the match. No borrowing from others. No immediate power ups within the match.

-Discussion of non-allowed techniques will vary by challenger and discussed via PM, only, If a technique is used in the midst of the fight that was not voided beforehand, and is still considered god mod, it can be voided at that point. People’s profiles are often unorganized, thus it’s easy to sneak past obviously broken techniques into a fight and we should not reward that type of behavior. The caveat, though, is that the technique in question must be an egregious violation to the fairness of the fight for it to be voided after it’s began. This is decided in a three way conversation between the judge and two combatants.

-Inflammatory, racial, harassing, or abusive language aimed at each other either in the match or in PM will result in an immediate void of the challenge. If challenger, (s)he loses all rights to ever challenge the current Jinchūriki. If host, he loses the match and Bijū given to the challenger.

-In the event that a host is defeated, the new host has the cool-down challenge period time-frame to either accept the special regulations for the tailed beast or completely re-write or alter the special rules. If they do not post their own variant by the beginning of the next challenge, then it is to be assumed that they comply with the previous special regulations.

-If host defeated, allow host to finish up any roleplay that may involve having the beast. Then a reasonable RP will be concluded as to how the beast transferred hands.

Any questions, PM me please.

(Mostly) Non-Negotiable Voids

[Challenge List]: N/A

Judge: TBD

Location: Zone 7

Status: IC deathmatch

Madara and I have gone over what specifications are desired and will wait for a judge to be announced, depending on who agrees. Below will be the response to Madara's entrance, but the fight will be on hold until the final detail is ironed out.

“Such a ruckus...” Rusaku growled irritably, as his eyes fluttered open, coming to rest upon the zombified Madara Uchiha, whom had just come crashing down from the heavens. The youth had been dozing within the peaceful, snow covered forest in hopes of catching some well deserved shut eye, but it seems that wasn’t meant to last. With an exasperated breath, Rusaku began to levitate from his rested position, transitioning his body upright, so his feet were only inches above what remained of the snow covered ground. Folding his arms over his chest, Rusaku began to observe Madara’s features closer.

Rusaku was garbed simply; a sleeveless dark grey uwagi, a long-sleeved black undershirt with a turtleneck, a red sash, black pants and white boots. Across the chest of his black undershirt was a white necklace of Magatama embroiled into the fabric, and on the back of his uwagi was a similarly colored crescent moon, representing his allegiance to the Otsutsuki. Like Madara, Rusaku’s own eyes were elevated, colored brilliantly by the intricate floral pattern of the Tenseigan. Hidden under his clothes were a miridae of various seals and formula used inside and out of battle.

Within his mindscape, Kurama spoke gruffly, “An Edo Tensei zombie? Does he honestly think he can defeat us in his fractured state? I’m almost offended.”

This elicated a cocky smirk from Rusaku.

Spam / Hokage tier list
« on: September 13, 2017, 04:51:35 AM »
Hokage strongest to weakest during their reign as active leader.

1.)Naruto
2.)Hashirama
3.)Minato
4.)Tobirama
5.)Kakashi
6.)Tsunade
7.)Sarutobi

Agree? Disagree? I am torn about Kakashi and Tsunade, only because the Sharingan was pretty important in Kakashi's arsenal. Once he loses that, he no longer has Kamui or anything, so he loses his hax ability, unlike Tsunade who can still heal. I just find that Kakashi is a far more tactical fighter who would be able to circumvent this with damage that maybe wouldn't be so easily healed. I mean, can she heal a severed head, should he land his Purple lighting technique? Sure if she ever managed to hit him, it would be over, but he has fought on par with opponents much stronger than him and survived just fine. He was even able to go toe to toe with 6 or so tailed beasts controlled by Obito, but he was of course backed by Guy, and eventually Kurama mode Naruto.  I think there is discussion to be had.

Council / Memories
« on: September 13, 2017, 02:51:22 AM »
Seeing as the council created the rules regarding the tailed beasts, I had a question that perhaps you all could shed some light on. Now, I don't believe that we ever talked about this before, and if we have please let me know where I can read up on it, but have we ever discussed the topic of a tailed beasts memory and it's releation to former hosts?

For example, seeing as Rusaku had mastered the 7 tails in the past, and spent a lot of time with it in doing so, would the current host be able to extrapolate vital information from the beast regarding me and my relationship with it? With Kurama having been hosted by several people in the past, could I get information on them now that I am the host?

The only example I can find of someone addressing this is in the fight where Kamui was GMing as the 8 tails when Yujo was attempting to capture it. He made mention that the beast had no recollection of Yujo, thus the fight would commence as if they had never shared a vessel. Though, as far as I am aware, that was only included because Yujo needed to fight and win the beast, and it wouldn't be fair for Gyuki to just climb on inside because Yujo mastered him previously.

Personally, I'm fine with the beasts retaining the information on previous hosts, because that would maintain a continuity, but I'm also fine with them losing memory, because then it could lead to people taking advantage of the opportunity that provides.

Council / Established Consequence
« on: August 27, 2017, 05:09:51 PM »
In light of my more recent fight, I have come to understand that there is no established consequence for breaking some of the more...overlooked guidelines of SL such as Retroposting and Metagaming. This is something I would like to have addressed for future reference when observing not only a Biju fight, but perhaps even in traditional IC RP.  I realize that there is a footnote saying these things are forbidden in the biju rules, but we should probably solidify what it means to break them.

Retroposting is probably the most repeated offense throughout my history of fighting. It’s a lot easier to just interrupt your opponent from doing what they wanted opposed to waiting for it to happen and react accordingly. I get it. The problem is, retro posting wastes a lot of time and energy. It takes time to write good posts. It takes time to think about what you want your character to do. It takes time to review your work for errors and make sure you're providing an interesting piece of literature that is also effective in the actions themselves. I don’t know about you all, but it’s very frustrating when I put in all that effort and my entire round is circumvented because you didn’t want to deal with the water technique I used at the beginning. If you don’t believe that this is an actual issue, just look at the fight I’m having with Jay. 20 days of fighting, arguing and judge rulings tossed in the trash because he reacted to something set into motion 2 full rounds prior, even after being ruled that his initial defence was inadequate.

I suggest putting a set limit on how far back a person can react. Just for example lets say...3 full actions. If it is within the realm of possibility, you can react to upwards of three action prior to your current round. So the beginning of your opponent's most recent set of actions against you. You can obviously still interrupt your opponent within these parameters, but you also can't go back 2 rounds and reto-fix a mistake you made.

Metagaming is not nearly as rampant anymore, but I do still see it as an issue that should receive some attention at least. It’s very easy to blur the lines between what you know, and what your character knows and when that line is crossed, it can lead to you having vitol information on someone that you otherwise shouldn’t have. Such examples would be having your character react according to OOC rules. Like assuming someone does not have Rinnegan because they have the Byakugan. Or noting that clones pull from your action count so you shouldn’t do something with them because of that.

My suggestion is a “3 strikes and you’re out” kind of clause. If you’re found guilty of metagaming 3 times within a fight, or within a set time period, then you are faced with whatever consequence, be it a loss of your match, or stripping the beast.

Obviously my wounds may be a little fresh from what I am dealing with elsewhere, but I still wanted to bring these issues up with the council all the same. If you all feel these are issues that need addressing as well, please add your own takes on the subject.

Village Square / The power of an NPC
« on: May 19, 2017, 04:12:54 AM »
I have a pretty simple question. What is the limit on power that you can give an NPC?

I know the Hyuuga clan and Uchiha clan leaders once Rped having NPCs with the corresponding KG, but I don't know if that trend was/is commonplace or was an isolated incident for the sake of RP.

I also want to know people's opinions about making old characters into NPCs, so you don't have to just sit them on a shelf if you don't RP with them too often.

Council / Motion for potential strip: 1 tails
« on: May 19, 2017, 12:54:02 AM »
Athos, under the account of Belphegor, has not posted in over 14 days. The account was last logged on 10 days ago. He was in an IC RP with Rusaku in Otogakure which he had not replied too in some time which spurred my interest in his activity as a host.

So he has not replied to our RP, and after searching the various zones and villages, he has not made a post anywhere else either. As an obligatory note, it was his turn in our RP, so he was not being locked away from being able to post. Mind you it was his turn 28+ days ago.

I request the council look into this and if they decide that his inactivity is a strip-worthy offense, that they take control of the one tails and distribute it out.

IF BEL ACTUALLY HAS MADE A POST THAT I WAS UNABLE TO FIND, DISREGAURD THIS, OBVIOUSLY.

The title has literally nothing to do with this topic, but hey.

So guys, obviously we all have a dreams and aspirations outside of SL that one day we would like to see come to fruition. Well for reasons that I am sure many of you can understand/relate to, I am drawn heavily to writing. It’s been a pastime for many many years, and I cannot think of many people who actually dedicate themselves to writing as often as I do for this game. Obviously you all write a lot as well, but I’m speaking exclusively in my life outside of this game. We are a breed few and far between, but a select few happen to have gathered together on SL.

In a perfect world I would like to see myself getting a book published and being able to pay my bills doing something that I genuinely enjoy with all my heart, but we gotta take baby steps. So today, I offer you all a chance to help me with this journey.

I plan on attempting to write a Naruto based novel, purely for the experience of writing one, but based off SL instead of the cannon. Being my story and all, one of my characters is going to be the center of this novel, but I wanted to know if anyone would be willing to give me permission to use their characters in this story.

If you did give me permission, I would obviously portray that character as you would like to see them, and not influenced by any of my personal feelings for the person outside of SL. I wouldn’t make a fool out of someone in this story just because I don’t like them, because generally spite doesn't make for an interesting story. These intellectual properties are to be respected.

I have a vague plot line set up, but I want to see who all I am allowed to use (If any) before starting, because I need to place the characters around my chessboard before anything else.

As a side note, I will be reducing the number of KG any one character has to 1 in order to pull back the power scaling required for the villains. Rusaku, for example, will only be using Byakugan it’s evolution; Tenseigan.

If I get some support from you guys I’ll end up posting each chapter as I write it up on the forum for all to read and critique as they see fit.

Thank you for considering.

Village Square / Action count
« on: April 08, 2017, 05:49:13 AM »
How many actions do Summons get? 3? 1? No additional actions? I know this is a varying preference for people, so I want to get something solid down for me to go by.

My suggestion is that Summons grant an additional action, but can draw more from the total action pool. So lets say it's your round, you already have a toad summoned, and the only thing you personally want to do is spit a fireball. Well that still leaves a total of 3 actions which means you can do more with the toad. But that does not mean you can summon and get a 4th action for free. You are still bound by the action limit, as is the summon should you try the other way around. If that makes sense.

Village Square / Human Puppets
« on: March 15, 2017, 08:28:12 PM »
So this one has been interesting me for a while, but I never really felt the need to address it until now. What exactly are the rules regarding Human Puppets?

The wikia says it grants you access to their KG, but that might not translate over to SL so well considering we stack like 5 or 6 KG a piece. What if I have a Puppet with Sharingan/Mokuton/Rinnegan while I myself have Byakugan/Ice/Sage mode? Do I still get access to those extra KG? Am I banned from using that puppet? It also says that Human puppets retain their use of Chakra. Is that implying that the puppet retains the chakra pool it had in life? Am I effectively doubling my chakra pool this way?

Then I must ask what is required to make a human puppet? I made one years ago named King that was relevant to that character's story, but ultimately it was an NPC made human puppet. I know the character Belphegor claims to have a human puppet of his brother, that allows him to use Ice release. Though as far as I’m aware the puppet is also created from an NPC relevant to his story. So what is the ruling on that?

Right off the bat I think anything like Gates or RNY should be out of the question, considering the muscles are replaced so there would be nothing to enhance. Any visual benefits from KG should be lost such as high speed tracking, but Susanoo and Amaterasu and things like that could still be applied. Then maybe if you already claim max KG, then any KG that the puppet does not share with you is void, but if you don’t then you can use them? Though that begs the question of if the Puppet can use all the techniques it knew in life, or just those associated with it’s KG. I’m honestly not sure what all should be done to it.

Current Host: Athos

Naruto Profile: http://narutoprofile.wikia.com/wiki/Athos

Affiliation: Uzushiogakure

Preferred method: 1v1 IC Deathmatch

Current Challengers:

Grace Period Started: 2/16/17

Special Conditions:

-The match is IC unless otherwise agreed upon.

-The match will be what I refer to as "staggered IC". That meaning we can rp whilst the match happens, but the end result of the match will still occur IC. Once a victor is decided the Jinchuriki and Challenger then finish whatever rp they are in and immediately post going to begin the fight, so that is when it happens chronologically. If you manage to get yourself killed before the fight happens it will be voided, but I'm not forcing you to rp elsewhere during the fight.

-Once a judge is agreed upon, either before the fight starts or the first time a decision is needed, they are the judge for the rest of the fight.

-You cannot borrow techniques from your friends like Dust Release or Hirashin. You can only use what abilities and tools you have In-Character during the fight, even if it's OOC.

-If you take 7 days to post, the fight will be called off and you will be declared the loser. If the fight was OOC that means you just lose. If it was IC that means the opposition gets to legally auto-hit you, likely meaning you die or are sealed. Note that the timer does not reset if you posted once and then have to repost. I.e. You waited 6 days to post, but your post was all godmodding and autohitting, and then waited 3 days to repost, then you still lose.

-Everyone gets ONE repost only.

Non-Negotiable Voids

-Swift Release
- Izanami
- Body Revival Technique (If used to survive opening the 8th Gate. That was made before we knew what the 8th Gate does, regeneration does not let you tank disintegrating into ash.)
- Uchiha Return
- Hijutsu: Kirisame and anything that is a rip off of it
- Tenseigan
- Barrier Shatter Technique when used to shatter barriers from a person, other than an object
- Retaining a custom bijuu mode or any other power after losing the bijuu. The only thing that may be retained is the bijuu special ability, if you had mastered the bijuu before losing it. Sand Control for Shukaku, Lava for the Yonbi, Ink for Hachibi, Negative Emotions for Kyuubi, etc.
- Dark Release: Inhaling Maw
- Chakra Edible Creation
- Amenotejikara
- Limbo: Border Jail
- Any ability unique to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki

Tenseigan has received some agreed upon nerfs in order to be allowed in this match. While using my chakra cloak, my techniques are empowered to the same level as Sage Mode, while my physical capabilities are on par with Kyuubi Chakra mode.

Anything else agreed upon in Pm’s.

Judge is Tobias.

A deafening silence had settled upon the eidolic forest known as Sleepy Hollow, interrupted occasionally by the creaking of decayed wood as it sway in a chilling wind. For miles there were no animals to be found, all scattered to the 4 corners in search for a more habitable place to call their home; the blood soaked bark and contaminated soil lacking any nutrients for life to thrive upon. Rusaku was nearly heartbroken by this melancholy sight.

High in the sky, appearing as a mere blot on the horizon as it approached, a large black bird could be seen soaring with a man balanced upon it’s back. If one had the ability to distinguish such features, they would notice that the bird itself appeared artificial. It’s eyes spun unnaturally in their sockets, making sounds akin to a camera shutter as it blinked. A safe guess would be that it was a puppet, like those used in Sunagakure; but unlike the generic puppet technique, there was no visible connection between it and the Ninja. (It's about the size of Deidara's casual flying around bird)

Rusaku crouched low, maintaining a vigilant watch over the dotted forest. Despite the pale spotlight that emanated from the moon at his back, it was still the dead of night. Previously, he had been relying upon the Byakugan to find this location, but had since elevated his eyes to their more permanent variant, now using more generic sensory methods to search.

The Tenseigan’s gleaming hues were masked behind tinted visors that accented his combat attire. In addition to the visor, he donned a face mask and body suit fitted for harsh elements, and a cloak to mask it all. His equipment was standard issue: knives, stars, tags (Explosive or otherwise), wire, ration pills; everything he has is marked of course. Attached to his lower back was a pair of Trench knives, for when the fight get’s a little too close, and a small, loosely wrapped burlap pouch that contained several seeds.

“This is troublesome indeed...” Thought Rusaku as he searched for his target, “Someone has amassed a dangerous amount of her essence. I must put an end to it before they bring about destruction.” He doubted that whoever was doing this understood the gravity of the situation, but to have collected this much already means that they are going to be stubborn, and incredibly tedious to deal with.
