I'd go with after mastery. Though I doubt it'd have too much of an effect. There are people who seem to have seals that inject and balance Natural energy or something to that effect. (Myself included, albeit it doesn't balance the energy for me.)

It's a tad on the older side of topics, but back when I had rinnegan and six paths to use, I had them all widespread in different positions. Of course we all shared the three actions, but if your opponent didn't have god sensing and/or byakugan, it was helpful in taking people off guard by attacking and defending from different angles. They're mainly good for added maneuverability and battlefield control.

You see, reading carefully is key, just as Jay pointed out, and by doing so, it seems he broke his own word. When he spoke of rising a hundred feet in the air, it had not mattered how high he went. Manji was clearly speaking of the ashes on the ground being formed into a slightly tall rectangle. He was speaking of length and width of the formation; x and y. But where was z? There was purposely no Z. No matter what height, he was still within range and thus was unable to use chakra. Unable to fly, unable to teleport. So long as one was confined within that slightly tall rectangle of ash, ninjutsu could not be used.

There seemed to also be Manji’s own attentions being called into question. Well, that would be a void point. After all, in the beginning of the bout, he did claim to activate the mind’s eye to focus upon Jay and his chakra constructs.

Now, his fairy tale would end at that point, being swallowed up by the liquids and fires, but that wouldn’t be fair at all would it? He so graciously allowed Manji’s slip up to go through and so would Manji in return. Look at that, ladies and gents. Maybe honor wasn’t such a bad thing in these fights. But no longer.

So there it was, Manji's defeat was imminent due to being blissfully unaware that his opponent could teleport at will. This fight was over with Manji's eyes wide as he yanked forward from the touch. Or...so it would seem until Jay vanished into ash. But how? Manji clearly stated that the barrier before him was nine thousand degrees. Indeed he said one would instantly disintegrate into nothingness when touching it, but due to nine thousand degrees being just shy of the sun's surface, it was safe to assume that being within a few feet of such would produce the same effects on the human body. Manji knew for a fact that Jay's training had not been nearly high enough to resist such, let alone tank it without using his incineration technique which was unavailable at this point thanks to him teleporting right to his death.

But then would that not result in a double-homicide due to the seal? No it would not. Even if he somehow managed to still place the seal despite burning alive, Manji would have stopped being pulled by gravity because the seal would pull itself into incompletion. How? Well Jay claims the seal is on the back of his head where most of his hair lies. Sure the seal would spread, but the main seal would be pulling his hair which (like most hair) is made of very small fibers. It was common knowledge that a seal could not operate if incomplete. It would fail, and gravity would cease, if not by Manji’s forward motion but by the gravity and that's exactly what would happen the moment his hair was tugged in the slightest fashion. The technique itself was stunted by its own design. It was quite disappointing that a self-acclaimed 'fuinjutsu master' would allow his plans to be foiled by such a basic concept, but let's get on with the match.

Let's say that hypothetically the barrier didn't give off such heat despite being so hot due to the failing of saying such (despite the implication of such). It would do so in droves now, due to Manji's instantaneous, reflex usage of heat manipulation, activated upon feeling the hand on his head while lurching forward. This grassland was almost instantly an ashen, burning wasteland. But even then, let's say that he could somehow live through it because of his strongest shield. There were still his eyes, and other bodily openings that could let that heat into his body. By simply breathing, Jay would have cooked his lungs and other internal organs with a single breath of the superheated oxygen. His feathers, having no pre-stated heat resistance, would spontaneously combust. His blood would evaporate at such close proximity (which we'll state is now five or so feet), and his brain was doomed as well. The sudden loss of blood would send him into shock, and prevent any further action.

Manji's own organs went through mutations to be able to resist such along with his skin in his training on Cibanhujy. That included his blood. Jay had not. He stated prior that he would die due to this heat. Well, let's put that to the test now. Manji was not so much as sweating from this. Where would the unprepared Jay be? Right behind him. But that was simply one move to be done.

Beneath Jay's feet lie his chakra. How? The ashes prepared for Manji's use he so carelessly frolicked within was enough contact for him to be subject to the Flying Thunder God Technique. Manji would use this since nothing was stated about them being washed off by any means. Since Jay liked to teleport, he would find himself now in front of Manji, hand out towards the barrier but how? Manji had Hiraishin seals inked upon his wrists. In fact, Manji's hands were now on his ears due to the victim being teleported to said wrists, between his hands. Just as Jay had done, he wasn't claiming an autohit, but due to the circumstances, it was a nigh unavoidable fate.

But what would happen at that point? Timing his teleportation to execute with his -hopeful- final move, he would apply the rupture seal on both sides of his cheeks through the tactile action. Without even the use of his chakra, there was absolutely nothing that could be done with resisting the heat of his barrier. He was a mere human against a small star's surface heat. This fight was done unless he could do something about the seals and get away in time for him not to turn to ash but even then it would have all been too late considering how fast one would naturally burn under such conditions.

I haven't been speaking on the topic, but i've read up on it. I go for two.

It seemed like his plan had changed. At least by a little bit. With the instantaneous explosion, it seemed like nothing could be done. Except, something could indeed be done. Now, Manji was no kekkai expert, but he was an Uchiha by blood, and had come across the Uchiha Flame Formation back in the day. Smirking, this should lead to his opponent's end. Instead of going gates, he would slam his palm down onto the ground as swiftly as he could. Simultaneously, he would activate the cursed seal on the back of his left shoulder. This would release a massive amount of dark chakra as well as Senjutsu into Manji's body, allowing him to enter Sage Mode on top of enhancing the passive dark chakra mode. The Senjutsu alone gave him a boost of 3x. The dark chakra would multiply this by two. However, there was only five turns to this boon.

This enhanced his speed enough for him to make this happen as he slammed his palm onto the ground in an untracable speed to the naked eye. Upon doing this, a massive red barrier expanded upwards before Manji, surrounding the entire area Jay was in and fast enough to prevent the blood, ice, water and fire from escaping. It could have swallowed 500 feet in circumference, and used the same dimension in height. This would prevent everything from spreading out too far and ruining the battlefield control that Manji had established, closing at the time and bottom(200 feet underground, 300 feet above ground. However, this white(extremely hot scorch release) and black(dark chakra) barrier had a second effect to it... It was indeed the Uchiha Flame Formation, but this was created not of Fire, but of Scorch Release chakra; fire and wind, and just as hot as the earlier flames. Of course it was limited by Manji as sage mode allowed him to go MUCH further with his flames.

Due to the intense temperature, by the time anything hit the barrier, it was essentially disintegrated into ash, or nothingness. By doing this, the water, ice, and blood would instantly become simple steam on touch, and thanks to the vast amount of it, the barrier would be filled with it. Now here was the kicker. The steam was as hot as the barrier's walls. Jay admitted to being unable to survive such. And even with his strongest shield, he still required breathing. He would cook inside as well as out had he done so.  Perhaps even Jay would be caught considering there was no physical way a house being released from a seal could push anyone, let alone pushing him from ground zero, especially with his entire body being covered with seals and releasing a multitude of items all around his body which would serve to push against him.

Hiraishin was not a factor here, as the seals upon the tools were released within the rupture seal barrier. This meant that the moment they did, the hiraishin seals would too, disappear, even if the explosion carried them away, leaving him without much of a way to get outside of the ultra-heated gases intact all while threatening to end his existence in a few seconds' time. In fact, simply by being trapped with such an intense volume of gasses would forcefully invade whatever orifices available to expand properly, as per physics, and that included Jay's. He still had to breathe after all.

It was here that Manji stood to his feet and formed a single hand seal by clapping his hands together. The once 5 turns he had in Sage mode had reduced to four due to the taxing nature of the jutsu, but he didn't feel as exhausted as he should have been without the buff of the Body Revival Technique. That's why he would be able to hold the barrier tight despite it being quite overfilled with gasses. He was going to smoke Jay out.

Indeed Manji would not stand for being laughed at, considering another plan would be set off within his mind. Yes, the ashes on the ground. The very ones that Jay flew directly into the center of. Of course he was on multiple accounts, invulnerable to physical damage. He didn't anticipate the shield so he would no longer count moderate strength physical attacks a viable method of offense. Instead, he would mentally map out the distances between them while Jay started towards him. He had to give the man credit for walking casually in a giant minefield of Manji's chakra.

At this point, Manji would picture the small seal formation he has practiced over the years in order to recreate them perfectly. He has seen this seal with both Sharingan when he owned the eyes, and Rinnegan during the many times he's applied this in combat. With no room for error on his part, he would easily, and surgically separate the ash needed and ash unneeded before assembling the loose ashes into a shape on the ground filled with his chakra, which required setting them into the dirt, and causing them to be wholly unaffected by stray winds, requiring heavy scrubbing to remove them. This would activate the seal known as Fuseiritsu Fuin, and with Jay having no previously mentioned way of perceiving minute chakra signatures outside of the Sharingan active, this likely would have taken the man by surprise.

The seal itself is unique in composition, having been made by the founder of ROOT many a year ago, and passed down through the organization, known more properly as the Rupture Seal. This seal can be used to lock away one's chakra usage by forcefully separating the physical and spiritual energies upon being used to mix and make chakra by any means. Even pre-existing chakra would be broken down into non-existence. Now, it can be used in two ways, one being a seal imprinted in some manner (inked/juinjutsu/scribed, etc) on the recipient, OR it can be used to secure an area by creating a shape for a barrier to emerge from, requiring more seals from the caster with the larger casting area. In this case, the four-point square worked nicely due to the relatively average distances, and with no risk to Manji's end. It would serve to leave Jay at quite the disadvantage.

The points were placed as follows: As stated before, the ashes were across, and widespread for 50 feet, allowing the barrier that much width. The ashes however were stopped before going their full distance, capping them off at 60 feet, thus making this a slightly tall rectangle barrier. With Jay being originally 65 feet away, he would enter the ash field separating the two, and continue through such. Manji stood just outside of the southern half of the barrier, looking in at Jay who would at this point be around the halfway/center point.

Had he been caught within his Sharingan would be rendered inactive, and any seals on his person would release, probably allowing whatever sealed within them to escape to the atmosphere, or to fall on the ground. He wished to finish it before things could get out of hand too fast. If what he knew about his opponent was true, then he desired not to use up his chakra. Jay probably contained as monstrous a cap as his mentor and that didn't fare well for Manji. There was also the point of that shield that protected him from the Repulsion technique. Manji could not see it due to it not being made of chakra, and yet it blocked a powerful repulsion. That required him to somehow draw on a heavier power. (Manji of course being unaware that the shield was used up)

His muscles tensed, and his blood vessels became visible upon his forehead. His skin became quite red, and an aura of green overcame his form at the very moment the seals activated. The effects of the sixth gate opening were quite apparent as he marched beyond his barrier, chakra unaffected by the effects. 'Yes, the power of the lotus ought to break right through that shield of his.' He thought but to himself before breaking view to any untrained eyes with his start forward, zig-zagging to-and-fro, left-and-right, appearing within a moment five feet before the (hopefully) handicapped Jay with a devastating, overhead right punch aiming to smack him down to the ground via contact with the bridge of his nose. If taking his brisk movement into account, the two would meet at the 30 foot line within the barrier. That would leave the barrier lines approximately 35 feet north and south, and the east and west directions 25 feet away from them; plenty of room to play.

Indeed his opponent's maneuver would have gone unnoticed if not for the fact that Manji was simply unable to mistake the potency of dark chakra. On top of  being a capable sensor, he could almost taste the darkness as it moved underground from its former position within the earthen prison.

He did however notice how once the ash and grass latched upon the wall, they simply stuck. It would serve only to be a minor setback for Manji as the chakra that was placed within them would begin to activate, super heating the ashes. This would cause the grass the ashes latched upon to combust and incinerate, and with the wind chakra from the jutsu having never dispersed from using the jutsu, the chakra in the ashes, remotely controlled to shift into the Katon element would 'eat' the constantly fed wind chakra backwards within a single moment's notice, engulfing everything in front of Manji for the dimensions previously stated in a fiery explosion. Manji could only guess how much heat resistance the opponent had, but considering Jay's time with the phoenix had proven a bit fruitful, Manji had to take the flames to a height he didn't imagine the acolyte could resist just yet with his Fuuton fuel: nine thousand degrees, and that was due simply to the fact that Fuuton and Katon served to be a volatile mix. No doubt the grass, and other such foliage within the wide attack would turn to ash as well fit for Manji's later usage.

However, that was simply Manji's first move done at the drop of a mere mental command after following the dark chakra with his eyes, and feeling the chakra rise beneath his feet. Of course at the same time, Manji would backpedal about two quick hop-steps (which would serve to send him back ten feet with five feet per step) as well, just before the hand emerged, followed by his enemy exploding from the ground with the Yakekogi landing from his second step at this moment in time.

Setting off the chain reaction was no difficult feat to pull off and thus he could afford the focus to do such in quick succession. His right arm however would have been up and pointed, primed the moment Manji jumped initially. Having been mentally prepared for Jay's entrance, he would activate a technique that could potentially take him off guard considering he too lacked to activate any sensory abilities. The Repulsion Technique was the technique in question. By expelling a significant amount of chakra from his palm, it would reproduce the effects of Shinra Tensei to a degree, generating and unleashing a great repulsive force upon a target in the blink of an eye from a decent distance. In the possible, unfortunate case for the Nara, they were considered 'point blank' or short range, and the rather powerful force would likely serve to swiftly slam him straight into the approaching explosion of flames with enough concussive force to rattle his head quite a bit, possibly preventing a response altogether and dispersing any focus on maintaining any other battle ability for the mere moments it takes for him to be incinerated.

Finally, he would smirk during the jutsu's activation. This was a win he could not afford to squander. Nor could he insult the Nara or his mentor by playing games. Matatabi was at stake, and no matter the cost, he would bring her back. But he could still hope this was to be a fun bout. And with this fleeting thought, the man's inner mind awakened, and the eye was wide open as it focused upon any chakra signatures foreign to him, allowing Manji to perceive Jay in quite a detailed manner. Amber eyes narrowed upon him, and the grin would fade as he readied himself for his opponent's response. Despite his desire to give the man no time to recover or gather his thoughts, he knew this wouldn't go down so easily. Those weren't the types Athos trained.

'Huh...funny...it doesn't feel like autumn anymore.' Another idle thought that floated through his mind.

He watched his opponent make his entrance, slightly put off at his initial change of appearance, but giving it no second thought as he waited for him to come within the hundred foot range. There would be no time to waste, and that's why he would begin the first move, reaching behind his form to lift a fair sized sack from his lower back, holding it in front of him before turning it upside down after undoing the loosely tied knot in the string holding it closed. Sprinkling from the pouch would be chakra filled ashes. The light breeze carried them forward somewhat slowly, covering five feet ahead of him.

"Ashes to ashes right?" He asked himself, inwardly shaking his head at the pun as he watched them fall out before returning his attention to the oncoming Jay. Now was no longer the time to distract himself from an opponent who could likely close the distance in a matter of a few moments. For now, these ashes would have no meaning, at least until he clapped his hands together. He needed to test the man's strength, and the perfect method would be to utilize the widespread jutsu known as Fuuton: Daitoppa which would allow him to manipulate the winds in front of him to expand outwards at about a hundred-twenty miles per hour. The velocity at which they traveled could rip roofing from a house and overturn mobile homes. The strength of such could easily lift a human being a carry them away for quite a distance. Sixty feet for an exact number. They would also carry his ashes forward, and due to their extremely light nature, they would go much much further, easily closing the distance between them due to their nature of sticking to objects. In this case, the uplifted grasses and dirt from the intense winds would serve as their 'trojan horses'.

Even the grass would be picked up with the wind, all across the battlefield for fifty feet out. And with the battle having been started with his gesture, Manji would extend his right palm quite easily inside of his ANBU vest over his heart and without so much as a flash, a mask would appear within his grip, completely black in color with a few red lines here and there, detailing it to resemble a fox's face. Had Jay been sensing at this moment, he would be able to see that this mask held a chakra signature of its own, although there was no way currently he could see the mask. In reality, this was his Root mask, now adhered directly to his skin. Its purpose would be revealed later, but alas he was now as prepared for this fight as he could be. He, however, did note his dark aura mentally. Interesting indeed as it felt almost reminiscent to the zero-tailed leach he once hosted. Almost. Perhaps it was some enhancement for the former kage to be wary of.

9
Of course he had to be here...Indeed at this point in time, the newly named Yakekogi found himself waiting patiently at the center of a massive grassland, five hundred feet from any sign of foliage all around. More specifically, the man found himself answering a summons. The call to battle was not one he could resist. Especially when it was from the very person he recently accepted under the phoenix's wing, in a quite literal fashion.

There was a light breeze on the autumn afternoon. It was not yet early enough in the season to cause the color change in the leaves, but the meager bite in the air certainly proved that it was here. And yet Manji stood with no discomfort to the environment in his loose clothing. Beneath his formal attire lie the gear he attained within his time as a ROOT operative in the past. Despite what may have seemed to be a thick, fire proof, titanium-wire woven vest, and shinobi 'slacks', worn by most ANBU, they would fit quite comfortably beneath the white vest and hakama he wore over them. The wind would stand little chance in affecting him. And yet, had someone come near his form, they could tell that it was twenty degrees hotter than normal for 20 feet away.

Staring at the east, in hopes his opponent would arrive from that location, he stood idly with the sun at his back. He was content with the subtle heat on the back of his neck, conflicting with the cool air.

Here ya go. Jraeco folded. I win this poker game. Sorry for the size lol

Honestly with the fighters locking in who they want to go for, I'd say we get some of the matchups set up, and characters locked (prevents last second edits and such) at this point, then leave it up to the fighters to start asap or on wednesday. Though I can also see in the case of the kyuubi with 5 people. Patience is a virtue right...? T.T

adding: There's also the rules to be established for the fights, as well how judgement criteria will be handled in the case of a stalemate. I'm hearing post limits and such in the making so those are more angles to be worked. I want to be patient but I'm also eager...The struggle...

Just as trev said, Randomizer would be ideal here. And getting things started quickly is better too simply because of the length of these squabbles.

As for the third question, what I like to do is exchange info/bios or ask my opposition a few questions. What do you have? What do you wish to be voided? Reason why? Let's discuss this before the fight. Nothing to void? Aight let's throw down. Gives em a chance to read/learn what you've got. It only sucks for those who don't have established bios/jutsu lists and such which gives them hella leeway for using possible godmod, but at that point a mod/judge can come in and save the day.

And midway through making this post I saw Athos make the same point. But it shows that it works so *insert shrug here* Right now is the perfect time to do it. Even if the others aren't going to be your opponent, there's the chance for it. They're in the same bracket after all. Or a multi fight can happen.

I don't think a giant brawl would be good, as I prefer 1v1 style bracket (Although brackets are problematic if you don't have easy numbers to deal with; 2,4,8,16, etc)

But if everyone in said match agrees, I say they should be allowed to, but all must agree. I'd hate to be the judge for that match though. So many complaints, and god forbid it reach the post limit. It's hard enough for a judge to decide the winner between two people, nevermind more. It also could create an unfair fight, if participants in said brawl decide to team up before facing each other at the end. Someone could potentially be walking into a 3 v 1 right off the bat.

Edit addition. Also for a group fight, other things have to be considered, like the time limit of the fight. If the fights only last 2-3 weeks, and seven days are allowed between post. Well, you may only get like up to 5 posts total before the limit is hit >.>

But that's just me being a pessimistic. If the combatants want it, I say go for it.

Maybe some rules should be set for multi-fights for biju brawls if they become a thing. I mean we've been seeing 2v2's so it's not too far of a stretch. Stricter time constraints calls out to me. And truth be told, multi fights may wind up being quick. After all, that's quite a bit of detail to remember, as well as a lot of possible opposition/god killing moves to work against with just the three move limit. But hell, like you said, a possible 3v1 could happen, or a 2v1. That seems like it could be a lil' scurrrry. BACK YOU FIENDS!  :smt068

My preference is a 1v1, but i'm down if everyone else is...Just a little off topic.

Aight because of the unfortunate party that was given a ban, I declare Madara and T'challa the winner of this fight, as the official judge as chosen and accepted the participants.

Now, for the love of god, NO MORE SOSP KURAMA CHAKRA SAGE KAMUI SWORDS EVER AGAIN.   :smt076
