I've never used PayPal, or any kind of service such as that.
Is their a way to make a donation via a credit card such as american express or visa?

Paypal also uses transfers via credit cards, and you need one to get registered.

it seems to be quite hard to accept credit cards here for a normal person (no business owner).

I stumbled across an amazon program where you can accept credit cards for your site... but only in the US.
In Germany (Europe it's a bit better) credit card
