Rules/Foundation / Re: Does previous mastery carry over? (vote)

I'd vote in favor of the character getting a reduced or permanent mastery. Not the player, though.

Without much to go off in the canon, I'd say an expedited mastery for the character is fair.

I'd vote yes if there were consequences.
Like, say you seal two untamed beasts at the same time. That's going to drastically drain and eat away at your psyche. Where as if you had one mastered and one new, it'd probably be a minimal hit. It'd be interesting to see someone attempt to control too much and have their minds shattered beyond repair and basically just being a walking vessel controlled by the bijuu.

As it stands.. I'm going to have say no for now. Maybe if the above got discussed first I could say yes, but otherwise. Nah.

Yea, I don't see anything wrong with getting in line before the doors open. That just seems like a poorly worded rule.

Depends, are you in a position to win and then their gun jams, effectively not being a factor? Or are you in a position to win but your gun jams and the other guys has a chance to basically stop digging their grave and kill you instead? In the first scenario, it doesn't matter. The outcome was already decided. In the second, you get absolutely screwed by an arbitrary system. I don't see anyone accepting that. I know I never would.

The solution in my mind has always been limits and enforcement. Why is the highest peak that only a single person ever managed to achieve the baseline for 'normal'? It's an absurd system that was created by a lack of rules and enforcement and it's, quite frankly, beyond saving without forcing every single person to give up nearly 95% of their power. No one's going to do that. This system is broken, but it's the one we're forced to deal with.

As far as fixing it, I've thought about it before, but I couldn't think of anything. Nothing that didn't seem like a sudden and hostile dictatorship that no one here would ever agree to because they're too afraid to give up their 20 page wikis of techniques and power ups. It's not even fun. I get that no one wants to not be the main character, but everyone can't be it either. If this place wasn't the last somewhat decent sized bastion of Naruto RP, I probably wouldn't still be here. But as long as it is, I'll be sticking around.  Probably. Life and whatnot. I dunno where this last paragraph went to be honest.

Being forced to take a loss when you're making better written posts and have an ability that would negate your opponent's move or whatever because you rolled a 1 and they rolled a 20 is kind of bull.

What's the incentive to be a better writer when it's just a dice roll?
There is none.

Substituting skill for luck is not a solution.

Just seems like a waste of time to discuss things we all already do, that have always worked. I'm pretty sure if someone was going to dispute not being able to host multiple bijuu they would have done it at some point between now and the start of SL and that hasn't happened. It's a rule, anybody who knows bijuu fights knows it's a rule. It's not going to cause any problems and nobodies going to complain if that's added to the rules without a topic about it unless they just feel like being contrarian.
I don't think anyone's saying that it should be a thing, my only argument is it's not technically illegal as it stands now.

Well it is in fact a rule you can't host multiple beasts. It was in the old rules and I'd imagine it's not in the new ones because it is so implicit no one even thought of it.

Implicit for people who were around and involved in biju during that time. If some fresh blood were to actually enter the biju scene (as has happened before) the precedent falls to "well, it's not against the rules".
Exactly. It's not in the current rules, so it doesn't apply, even if you follow it regardless. If it got put back in the current rules, then that's another matter. But as it stands, you could potentially master every bijuu in 15 weeks total.

It takes 15 weeks to master a Bijuu and there are 52 weeks in a year Eric so there's no way you could master them all in under a year unless you've already mastered all but three.
That's assuming that you wait to capture each one until you've mastered the last. I don't remember anything in the rules saying that you could only master one at a time, so if you captured all 9 at the same time, it'd only take the 15 weeks, not 135.

There is no rule against it, but how would you master them all at the same time? You can only master a biju and gain it's abilities when it's sealed inside you and you master them. So you'd have to seal the Reibi, master it, take it out and throw in the Ichibi, etc. Then if you have all biju it becomes more problematic, as the other biju you have that aren't sealed inside you are to be treated as summons. Which means they hate you, which means you may never be able to fully master it since it will forever hate you.

Edit: Or I suppose the user could keep the other biju sealed away and not as a summon, but still, I don't know how you would master more than one at a time, as I believe you need them sealed inside you to gain the abilities?
I don't see a rule saying you can't have multiple sealed inside you. In fact, the only even remotely relevant rule I can find is: "There is no limit to the number of bijuu one person can own." Maybe it's common courtesy here to only have one, but if there isn't a rule, then you can be sure someone will use that to their advantage at some point. If someone sealed every bijuu in them, then there are no rules saying mastery is one at a time. So in the potential scenario where someone gets all of them at the same time and seals them all, it'd be 15 weeks total. And even I think it's kind of stupid, but there's nothing stopping it.

A devilish grin formed on the man's face as he felt the presence of his target. He didn't bother to open his eyes until the man came to a stop. They snapped open, his single Byakugan active, as he finished his prayer, only to tilt his head and laugh.

"How joyous! Our lord has sent me a false doppelganger to rid from this world!" He laughed before standing in a fluid motion. "You copy the lord's image, but you do not contain a fraction of his power. I shall do the only honorable thing and offer your blood to him! .. But before that.."

The man put a hand inside the cloak and drew the shorter of his two blades on his back, an 8 inch blade that looked more like an ornament than a weapon. He flipped the blade in his hand as he held his arms out. Mumbled words exited his mouth as he pressed the edge to his left wrist before slicing through his flesh. The sanguine liquid poured from his veins as he tilted his head back in ecstasy. The ground was painted red by the flow, but it quickly subsided, the man's regenerative abilities quickly kicking in. The pool of blood, oddly, did not soak into the grass or dirt, but remained still as the man flicked drops of the substance off his blade before sheathing it.

"The God of Death is with me, for I cannot die!" His grin only widens as he draws what appears to be only the hilt of a weapon, holding it before him. "Come. Sacrifice yourself to him and be forgiven!"

Calm winds licked a tattered and worn cloak as it's wearer exited the tree line. His oculars, one white, the other crimson, scanned the desolate plains for any signs of life. Spotting nothing, he ventured forth into the vast field of grass. The sun shone on his back, the torn remains of Tenmei's symbol faintly gleaming under it's rays.

Eventually the man reached what he assumed was near the center of the never-ending greens. He knelt in the soft grass and began a silent prayer as he waited for his prey to arrive.

... But if you guys want these to be included in the actual rules, once the biju council is up and running, and enough people want them explicably stated, the community can forward it to the council.
Could just have a vote and get it into the rules sooner. Why would this be forwarded to the Council?

It involves Bijuu so it makes sense that the council itself would also vote on it.

Why does the Council need to be forwarded it? The Council's job is to rule on rule violations, anything else they do biju related is as players, jinchs, etc. The Council would be voting right along with the rest of us.

The council's grasp on what exactly their job can best be described as "tenuous at best".
Seriously though, it's like they have to be reminded every other week that they're not Congress, they're the Supreme Court. If it's another thing the 1st group can claim, it's that we never tried such blatant power grabs.

I agree with Athos though. The Bijuu passives are drops in the bucket compared to the average ten page list everyone runs around with these days. Who even cares about limits anymore?
I mean, besides me. <<

No Items, Fox Only, Final Destination.

OOC

Judge: I let Athos pick since I don't know any of them or care, and he hasn't picked yet, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Zone 6

Voids:
-Swift Release
- Izanami
- Body Revival Technique (If used to survive opening the 8th Gate. That was made before we knew what the 8th Gate does, regeneration does not let you tank disintegrating into ash.)
- Uchiha Return
- Hijutsu: Kirisame and anything that is a rip off of it
- Tenseigan
- Barrier Shatter Technique when used to shatter barriers from a person, other than an object
- Retaining a custom bijuu mode or any other power after losing the bijuu. The only thing that may be retained is the bijuu special ability, if you had mastered the bijuu before losing it. Sand Control for Shukaku, Lava for the Yonbi, Ink for Hachibi, Negative Emotions for Kyuubi, etc.
- Dark Release: Inhaling Maw
- Chakra Edible Creation
- Amenotejikara
- Limbo: Border Jail
- Any ability unique to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki

7 Days to Die and all the standard nonsense.

The only thing on the line is the 9 tails.

I'm kicking it off once I'm done with class for the week, since we don't have to officially start until Saturday and I'm done on Wednesday. Just throwing this up so I don't forget.
