Keep in mind there was a massive technology level jump after the last ninja war ended and the gaiden chapters. Unsurprising considering the prolonged peace, really, kinda the same thing as people saying we'd be colonizing space now if the dark ages hadn't happened.

Mostly the grave if memory serves. Diseases European colonists brought along rekt them pretty hard.

Everyone knows the Aztecs were (mostly)killed off by the us government and the remaining ones are being kept in area 51 cause they are aliens.

I don't think technology is really a problem in Naruto, its just not something we are use to seeing. Kishimoto stated that Naruto's time period isn't really that different from ours, just a little bit in the past. Hes okay with advanced technology, just as long as it isn't war related.
Aside from that, I think Naruto as a kid had all the conveniences of 1980s style technology, but its simply not the style nor the focus of the story.

That's not a bad thing. Thankfully, it makes things like my lab and the secrets that I have within more plausible now.
My main concern about this chapter is that they're going to Orochimaru's lab. Now, is Orochimaru still active and evil? Or are they going to an old lab. And who are these new Akatsuki guys?

I could be wrong but I'm guessing Oro is still just neutral. They are probably going to see if he knows anything about these people. Sense I would suspect he still keeps track of everything.
Also is Sasuke like Konoha's new Jiriya?

The bit about his missions taking him to places where a phone can't be charged kinda implies he's a working nin, not a wanderer like ero-sennin.

I think I read in some interview with Kishi that he plans on Orochimaru being final villain for this naruto saga. Don't know how true that is, so do your own research.
But I'd think that would be neat, full circle. First major villain, and the last.

I don't like to research plots. I like to try toguess and see what comes of it.
Also I thought old PervySage was pretty much following the Akatsuki around or gathering intel on them.
