Village Square / Re: Claimed List Brainstorming
« on: August 30, 2016, 06:34:54 AM »
My idea would be along the lines of:
-Maintain the list as is
-Instead of players claiming inactive items the GMs would "claim" the items. Only the inactive items
-The GMs would then create an event open to multiple people. Anyone interested could join the event and the GM would award someone with the item.

This is why I just avoid canon items and make stuff that fits my character. I say burn it all and force people to use their creativity.  ;)

Something like this. I honestly don't know how to weigh in on this topic. I see the point both sides are making. I don't use canon items and a lot of the things I use are custom. I would like to see events, GM proctored or otherwise, that promote creativity. If people are more creative then less emphasis can be placed on these canon items in general.

As for how to fix the current list, I don't really have a great answer. One per person seems impossible to convince anyone of. I for sure wouldn't want to break up my Fantastic Fork of Poking and Superb Spoon of Scooping set. Alternatively making all items available to everyone seems difficult to enforce for points made by Kamui as well as it could be a lot for GMs to do RP wise. Having to set up RP for every single person that wants an item would be a ton of work I'd imagine. Each RP would have to be unique or if they weren't and they were just a standard then everyone would know how to beat it.

I think the idea I like the best is to leave the list as is and just try and promote creativity in RP going forward. Have GM events that give out unique non-canon items as well as having GMs "claim" the canon items that are already inactive and have them hand those out during events.

Have we spoken to all of these people to make sure they are still interested? Those posts were made over a month ago.

Well I will be honest, I don't know anything about the Bijuu rules. Never really tickled my fancy to get caught up in that nonsense. So this comes from someone that is completely neutral and has no desire for said beasts.

If the rules have been violated and those who are currently in fights for the Bijuu or are waiting for fights want to recite those rules then fine. However for you to say you get both of them just because you are the next challenger seems extremely self serving, especially since you are the one bringing up the rules. So if Rusaku has no qualms about forfeiting the beasts due to a technicality then we can strip him of the beasts and then begin discussion on how we are going to distribute them. Just saying they go to you is jumping the gun and really isn't going to fly unless more people weigh in on that.

Could you make something similar to the gypsy tent available and free to use for GM/staff accounts from the shades?

If such passes for the gm approved select I can assure you that others will want this power as well who are not gm. They will nag and nag until it happens and ruin the whole point of the shades. Sure their ff may not be granted but still the shades hold tradition value to me, at least, as to be against the idea.

I'm sorry if I'm 'that' negitive person but to me the shades are one of those old places that died off and I feel should be honored to remain left as is. Like the gardens. To me they just don't hold the same factor they use yo in the game when rp wasn't so mainstream.

I know, I know, get with the times. I just hold to much sentimental value for the place to agree to liking the idea. Of course if it happens there isn't anything I can do about it.

I'm just saying you go the shades rp there then. People use to do siuch and even die to go use those zones.

I'd prefer another route be taken... Like perhaps the GameMasters having acsd alts gifted with their gm abilities? So they can simply log onto the other account?

To me that idea fixes more than simply that one prob. What if navs break? I guess they can break for gm as well and have to be fixed by higher staff... They could use the alt account until navs are fixed.

I don't think that the Shades should be changed either. Not for non-staff players. Sure like you said some people may complain that they should have access to it as well but ultimately it would come down to telling them no because, simply put, they are not staff members. Yes they may be hosting an event of their own but there are certain perks that being a staff member will give you over non-staff members.

For example GMs have the ability to use that special posting thingy that they do. Other players do not (at least I think. If regular players can do it then I don't know how to do it and I am the one that needs to get with the times ._.). It's not like a ton of people are kicking down the door to have the special post power.

As for having alt staff accounts, I'm personally not a big fan of this just because I don't think that many accounts should be flagged as staff unless they are actually required. But that's just my opinion on that and it is of course the big guys in charge who can talk that one out.

I actually brought this up in my post regarding the Wiki issue. I'm not sure about any of the other game-masters, but I know I would be perfectly fine with creating an RP in order to procure canon items. And there's a bit of a problem with what you're talking about, Shadow. I'll make an example.

The Legendary Shovel is a canon item that was claimed by Kage Schmukatelli, who has not been on for 91 days. This means the TLS goes back into circulation.
Hunter Nin Established starts an RP event in the Land of Gardening's public board to claim TLS. The RP will take about a week to finish with the players involved. At the 6th day, as HNE waits for their partner to post in order to finally 'claim' TLS, Academy Student Recruit edits the wiki page and starts saying that they claimed TLS without any proof because 'first come first serve'. That obviously leaves the parties involved in the RP a little bit unhappy because they've been working for it.

Another scenario that could happen would be the same as what I just described, but with several people doing an RP at the same time all unknown to each other. Who gets it in that situation? The first person to 'get it' or the first person to 'initiate' RP? Having the items handed to the GMs would allow for much easier control in these types of situations because there will just be ONE RP for ONE item, instead of several RPs all going on to get that ONE item. It would allow for anyone to get involved as well, instead of some people who might choose to exclude people from joining their group. And, it would avoid having the "poof" mentality when it comes to claimed things.

And I know I mentioned doing away with claims in those previous topics as well. I just wanted to throw it out there as an option :) There are benefits by doing that, but that would be its own topic.

And regarding what you're talking about, Kayenta, I feel the same way. If I had some cool thing, (The Legendary Shovel, for example) and had to go away for an extended period of time that would put me over the 90-day period (a short-notice deployment makes this a real possibility, unfortunately) I would be a bit bummed to find out when I got back that I no longer have TLS. I know rules are rules, but if we keep logs of who has what (by bolding the current user and leaving the others plain or in italics) then I would be able to see who has TLS now and talk to them about the problem.

I support this post.

No I'm not saying they fight for it. I'm saying the Game Master does an RP with it which results in it being redistributed to someone by the conclusion of said RP.

While I do like to idea of being able to reclaim a canon item/jutsu/summon so that it doesn't sit in inactivity for all oblivion I don't really like the first come first served mentality. I feel like taking that approach leaves people running for the gates as soon as they open and leaves a lot of people upset and very few satisfied.

In cases like these why not submit the items to the Game Masters that we all just voted for? Have them set up an event that is open to anyone that is interested in obtaining the item. It doesn't have to be a free for all battle and the last one standing gets the item. It can be a small story based RP and have the item found during the RP, or the jutsu learned, or the summoning contract signed or whatever it is.

This way items aren't arbitrarily ripped away from people. The Game Master can do a bit of research on the items and talk to anyone currently/previously associated with the items. If they determine that the item is indeed inactive then they can create some RP as noted above. If they determine that creating an inactivity event isn't a good idea for that particular item then they can talk to the current owner that may not be using the items (like what was happening with the swords) and try and come up with a way to put that item back into RP circulation without just taking them away magically.

Nova Stargazer

Age: 14
Rank: Genin
Village: Kumogakure

Background:
Nova is a quick learner and works hard at his ninja studies. He does well in his classes, always doing well enough to earn praise but never quite top of the class. His parents are encouraging and are in good health. Even with his good marks and his loving parents he still feels like something is missing. He is looking for something or someone that will make him push harder than normal. Someone that will push him to his limits and push him to break those limits. That is his goal in entering these Chuunin exams.

Combat:

Raiton

Raiton: Lightning Rod
Jibashiri
Raiton Kage Bunshin

Other

Shuriken Kage Bunshin

Nova focuses heavily on Taijutsu, channeling his Raiton nature into his body and strikes. Infusing his body with Raiton he focuses mainly on increasing his speed. Ultimately he would like to learn something akin to Raiton no Yoroi but isn't quite at that stage yet. He knows some Ninjutsu to help bridge the gap between he and his target.
