Title: Member limit - feedback
Post by: Neji on March 31, 2007, 05:32:20 PM
I'll put the limit of logged in players up to 160 max.

Let's see how the impact on the server will be.

Please put your *QUALIFIED* feedback in here.

Question: Is the page load longer than in a normal situation at the same time with the same number of users? Or not? A bit longer sure, but I am talking about significant more time.

Yes it will, but it won't make change the slowness. I've learned to just take a nap.

right now it is absolutely full, 160 people! :P and i'm logged in, it's working perfectly, it's moving at the same speed that it did before the limit was raised.

Not exactly perfect, but it's faster than usual. :P

There were no problems on my end when it was full.. which is insane because my computer is really old and kicks me off the internent when the numbers start to increase on sl. I'd say the new server can definately handle 160 people!

It looks like it can handle 160 people, I see no slowness as Cyrus said It's not perfect but it's faster then usual and it has Mach speeds when it's 60 or less.

Nah, no difference. The server is still packed, even with a 160 member limit, but the important thing is that there isn't a change in the loading times. Neji must be bathing in money by now or something... who needs water when you have money, just as good. >>

I think the server is going smooth and fine. Although sometimes it goes slower but overall it's good.  8)

i would ask to make it to 200. because when i was trying to get on at 7, i couldn't and when 1 spot opened, it was closed the nex 3 secs. and well, i don't think it'll slow the server that slow. if not 200, then can you change it back to how it was before? after being slayed, u end up in the graveyard. because in those 20 minutes at 7, when i finally got on, i lost 6302 exp. Just a suggestion.

So far so good at 180 Limit.
I experience a few lags but none so bad.

I'm getting errors as of now. 10:07 am Central Time.
Such as this.

SELECT author FROM commentary WHERE section='village' AND postdate>'2007-06-05 00:00:00' ORDER BY commentid DESC LIMIT 25

Lost connection to MySQL server during query
Call Stack:
1: db_query("SELECT author FROM commen...") called from /var/www/html/naruto/lib/commentary.php on line 546
2: talkform("village", "says", 25, "village") called from /var/www/html/naruto/lib/commentary.php on line 471
3: viewcommentary("village", "Speak", 25, "says", "village") called from /var/www/html/naruto/lib/commentary.php on line 171
4: commentdisplay("", "village", "Speak", 25, "says", "village") called from /var/www/html/naruto/village.php on line 282

Also Database Connection Errors.

Refreshing the browser seems to do the trick but for how long?

Were 200 people on?

Strangely the errors occur at the same time: around 5pm my time it was the last time too.

Now it's working.

It was around 100...
Though that can't be the problem can it?

The game is going slower than usual at 7:07 NY time, with over 170 members, last time I checked.
