Title: Mission Companions
Post by: Gyu~ru~ru on August 27, 2007, 12:01:19 PM
I was wondering. When the A.I system is completed, is it possible to put special companions/guest in your team when you go on a mission?

Example:

Mission: Deliver a secret scroll to Gaara, the Kazekage of Sunagakure.
Rank    : B
Details : Please take this secrect scroll to Sunagakure in the Land of the Wind. Look out for mercenaries & ninjas from the other countries that might try to snatch the scroll from you. Nara Shikamaru will accompany you on this mission.
Reward: 5,000 gold & 1 gem.
Condition: Mission fail if you fail to defend the scroll (unable to defeat all encounters)

Shikamaru will support you with Kagemane no Jutsu during battles, rendering some of your enemies immobile & unable to attack.

Here's an example of a mission with a guest.

Mission: Kunihisa wants to hire a shinobi that would show him how to survive in the forest, the shinobi way.
Rank    : C
Details : You will take Kunihisa along with you as you go through the forest looking for enemies to battle. Survive 10 forest fights while protecting your guest.
Reward: 3,000 gold.
Condition: Mission fail when either your or Kunihisa's HP reaches 0.

Kunihisa will just hide from being targeted most of the time. When not hiding, Kunihisa will attack one of your enemy randomly by throwing a stone at them, doing low damage. (Kunihisa has low stat, so he will most likely be targeted by your enemies when he is not hiding, putting himself in danger & jeopardising your mission!)

I thinking it would be interesting to have players fighting alongside characters from the anime.

Forest enemies should drop less gold or only items instead. Eliminating fighting easy battles as a source of income where players would have to complete missions to earn money, just like in the anime/game.

What about people in Akatsuki? It would be weird to see them with Shikamaru ._.

There will be a bunch of missions of different ranks waiting for you. If not, the forest enemies will continue to drop gold normally.

Isn't it already weird that people who are not leaf ninjas ask Iruka about missions in Ichiraku ramen? It's just a game.

Further more, mission companions/guest will leave your team/party once the mission has been completed.

So you mean I can fight alongside Deidara  *faints*

Anyway, I love this idea

If Oliver decides to give out missions from Akatsuki, then maybe you will.

I wonder if a "cargo" is possible? A "companion" with an A.I that doesn't nothing but sits there. It would be perfect for protecting/transporting cargo missions.

Mission: Get the cargo safely to the mantioned county/city.
Rank    : C
Deatails: Please guard the cart of rice/belongings/valuables/prisoners on its way to Fire/Water/Wind/Rice Country.
Reward: 1,500-3,000 gold (depending on the type of cargo)
Condition: Mission fail if cargo get destroyed (the cargo's HP will vary from 500-5000 HP depending on the type of cargo).

Haha you took the idea of that new Naruto RPG Game. cant remember but you take a mission and you have to protect the cargo. ITS GREAT! simply! but i dont like the idea of making forest enemies drop low gold or only items. think about the Acads lol

what about evil missions?

Assassination missions, capturing bingo book criminals, annihilating bandits, protecting greedy rich merchants/officers, transporting forbidden/dangerous items etc. For Evil alignment players, such missions I think would be suitable enough.

Consider that one of the advantages of being good.

BS, you already get a whole bunch of stuff already, not getting attacked by ANBU, SST, still able to join Akatsuki

Watch what's coming out of your mouth. If you are that good then go ahead & give some suggestions instead of just asking for them. Then we will see who is the bigger BS here.

Akatsuki doesn't make you totally evil though only slightly more when you join

either way, why would you need mission companions if you already have Animal Companions and you can get Mercs anyway; so it looks a like an easier way to complete the mission

Read carefully, not all mission companions are useful. Some ARE the mission, if they die, you fail. Which makes the mission tougher instead of easier.

Sounds good. Assasination missions are always my favorite in any game, but it'll be kind of weird in SL. Unless you have to find a npc, have a chat, then kill him. Like in Morrowind, I always become best buddies before a kill :P

I like the idea, it will be very cool to protect those persons, also the missions where we can kill sounds good,
I loved the idea. I hope this appear on the game.
More missions = More fun XD :D

I'd like a mission where you team up with a bunch of your countrymen and kill leaf nin, or whatever else you want >_>

Trust me, you will need the extra help since you don't get to heal in between fights during missions.

I've been waylaid with 10+ enemies in a row without healing and I made it through, but I assume these enemies will be stronger?

We can't really say anything until the A.I system is implanted.

I get waylaid by 10+ enemies multiple times in a row, and if I don't heal in between, the second will kill me no problem.

I'm not really in a hurry for them to get stronger.
