Anyone know the list for these expensive things? I got gems to spend.
-
The ring list?
Not sure I think the most expensive is 250 or 500 gems. >>
-
Yes I know the price of all but is there a difference in buffs. That's all I care about at the moment.

None at all. There's an engagement bonus and then a marriage bonus.

Hm I see. So the rings are just bragging rights. One is 50,000 gold and 500 gems. Quite expensive.
-
Married? I thought the buffs go away when you are married. Hrm....
but if rings cost more then the more expensive ones should be worth more buffs? The SL wiki is very vague and does not list the rings or price grades. which are as follows:
Steel Ring...500 GP and 5 gems
Mercury Ring...5000GP and 10 gems
Silver Ring...5000GP and 20 gems
Gold Ring...5000GP and 40 gems
Tribal Ring...5000GP and 50 gems
Silver Ring with Gold Inlays...5000GP and 60 gems
Diamond Ring...5000GP and 100 gems
~[honest feelings 23 rounds]"you care about"
Adamantine Black Ring...5000GP and 200 gems
Diamond White Ring...50,000GP and 500 gems

500 gems? You have any idea what I could do with 500 gems?
I could buy 4-5 castles with that. I could create 25 or so clans and scrap all but the last one.
Like, this is probably the currently single guy talking, but 500 gems and 50,000 gold seems kind of high for a perkless piece of jewelry, especially in a RP environment.

Well, it's a game.
Where love does not intensify along the value of presents you give to your spouse ;)
At least that's what romantic little me thought ;)

I suppose you're right, I wouldn't be a single character right about now if I had some of that romantic sentiment in me. :(
You could sell *about twice* that many castles at least to get that much, so there's a positive in my math. xD

What I think is an oversight...is that you cannot see...as the receiver of the ring...what the ring is. I wonder if that could be included in the engagement notifiication?
So and so had presented you with a blah blah ring...and so forth? To be his house slave, to have and to support in the acquisition of avatars and colored names and titles, dwelling keys and general foresting buffs till rage quitting do you part!
Speaking of quitting...can we please please please STOP sending suicide notifications to the widow/widower when their spouse leaves SL and their account goes inactive? I would much rather get a notification that they were lost as sea or died in battle valiantly instead of having to hear of their suicide.

@Kayenta
They send out suicide mails? o.o Never knew that and I agree that if it does that they shouldn't.
Also when you buy a ring for your spouse you have a section where you can put anything. So you could put "So and so had presented you with a blah blah ring...and so forth? To be his house slave, to have and to support in the acquisition of avatars and colored names and titles, dwelling keys and general foresting buffs till rage quitting do you part!" In there as an rp. It's left open like that so anyone can propose how they want.
@Eric: Some of us have no need for those gems from leveling. I could make 500 gems and 5 million gold in under a week if I were to power-level. :P That being said they offer the cheaper rings for people such as yourself who still want the buffs without spending those precious gems on perk-less jewelry. (Which isn't perk-less i.e honest/vigorous feelings for so-and-so.)
-
I petitioned it to be changed before. The first suicide notification for an RP spouse I received occurred after the actual suicide of my brother-in-law. You can imagine how well that went over with me.

What are the odds. That's kind of messed up there.
Inactivity notices should probably be more like, "your spouse has passed from this world", and get a message that's different if the account is ever brought back active. I think "passed from this world" is a little more neutral than "committed suicide" or something of that sort.

Why not...Has been sent out on a secret mission...
Gone out for a pack of smokes?

Well, in-game, when an account goes inactive or is deleted, the global "news" is that they passed from this world. I mean, while you might could lighten the message up some, I think it would kind of dilute the point of the in-game message if there wasn't some level of morbidity in it.

Oh my =)
I will edit the text.
Taken this:
`4I am very sorry to notify you about tragic events that have occurred! %s`4 has last been seen entering the woods and has not been seen since! We have not given up hope, but we fear for the worst.
-
That's actually quite nice, considering some people do return.

Even in the Naruto series, an uncanny amount of people return from the dead at least once as far as the main storyline is concerned.
-
That is much nicer Neji, thank you.

You want a zombie spouse?

This feels appropriate with how this thread is going. Does the text of an account being disabled really warrant moving the topic away from the original discussion about ring buffs and the like?
