Sorry for derailing the thread. Can we get back to the topic?

Hey, just getting this straight. While I do feel this is a sinking ship, I'm hanging on and trying to enjoy my time while I can. But picking at how I feel about the state of things shouldn't be the focus. I'm trying to bring up key things that need to be addressed if GMs are picked. If you like what I had to say, or don't agree with what I have to say on the topic, discuss that.

So what happens when all these 'owners' of techniques up and leave the site? Does that mean that the skills are just floating around in cyber-space out of everybody's reach? Where's the fun in that when you try to do something and someone you've never met before says 'nuh-uh! No stealsies'. Just let people learn the skills they want to learn through RP if they want. As long as they're not doing that lonely thing and making post after post after post just with themselves, it should be fine if they come up with or discover a way to use a jutsu. Just do it with a friend. Or a stranger, turn them into a friend.

I remember when GMs on this site first became a thing. Now I'm gonna say a few things, even though I'm late to this party.
First of all, is there really enough traffic to this game that really makes it necessary to have GMs? A lot of us know that we're hanging onto this sinking ship and hoping that we all have some fun at this party before we all go under. A lot of instances where people think GM's are necessary seem to be when they're griping and crying that things aren't going how they want or that someone stole someone else's toy.
Second, being a GM isn't someone who just mediates other people's issues. The hard thing about being a GM is that you're likely not going to be people's friends when you have to tell them that they can't have what they want. But I guess the same thing could be said about mods. A GM should be there to set the mood for an event or arena. They should post what's going on prior to everyone else showing up at the place and post the setting, that way people can get more immersed in the RP. Then after that, they should basically disappear and only re-appear if people have concerns/questions about what's going on in the fight/event.
Third, GMs can't be everywhere at once. They have their own lives to deal with, and there is a lot to keep track of as far as RPs go. One way to remedy this is, instead of just making one or two new GMs, appoint a lot of competent people as GMs and have GMs be assigned towns. Each GM or team of GMs can be assigned a certain village to watch over and keep tabs on as far as RP goes. The zones are where all GMs would be able to watch and can keep tabs on (unless a party asks for a specific GM to observe and set the stage for them via PM). So that brings up the question of who to 'hire' and how to come to that conclusion.

That's my opinion on the whole GM thing. And another thing is that GMs shouldn't help themselves or their other characters cheat. Because once people start abusing power, everyone starts pointing fingers and blaming the people in charge. Then no one's happy.

Well, this is something I've always noticed since I've been here. It's present in both gameplay and RP, Japanese jutsu. I'm wondering if I'm the only one who has this issue. For example, let's go with gameplay to start.
Quote
Kawarimi no Jutsu, Kakuremino no Jutsu, Bunshin no Jutsu, Jyūken, Hakke Rokujyūyonshō, Hakkeshō Kaiten, Hakke Hyakunijyūhasshō, Shikotsumyaku, Tsubaki no Mai, Karamatsu no Mai, Hessendan, Yanagi no Mai, Kokushintō, 天道, Tendō (Deva Path), 地獄道, Jigokudō (Naraka Path), Kirigakure no Jutsu, Kaihoudan, Suijinheki, Suiryuudan no Jutsu
That's a list of all the jutsu I can use right now. Honestly, I don't have a clue what a lot of them do and often have to pull up the Naruto Wikia to go 'Oh, so that's likely what it'll do.' And isn't it just redundant to have two different ways to say 'Naraka Path' and then have Naraka Path in brackets right afterwards? I'm wondering if there could maybe be an option in game to select how the jutsu are displayed, original Japanese method or english method.

And as for RP-wise, I'm going to pick on you Dart because you've just recently posted in that fight one.
'Sairento Kiringu (Silent Killing)', 'chakura mōdo (Chakra Mode)', 'Infūin (Yin Seal)'
Why would you include the bracket translations? Wouldn't it just save you time to put it in english? Most of them WOULD save you both time and space. 15 characters vs 13 and 11 vs 10. Plus you have to look up the special letters too unless you're copy/pasting.
But it's not just you, it's a whole bunch of people in RP. I can understand Doton vs Earth Style (save space and time again) or any of the other jutsu headers. But why not say Doton: Earth Armor instead of    Iwa no Yoroi? That way, instead of the person you're RPing with having to look up what that does or you write out a long-winded explanation that, basically says, 'Your skin hardens like rock'

Just a ranting a bit and wanted to know if anyone else felt the same.

I agree. A big map like that would allow for people to RP coming from lands outside of the Narutoverse. Or, go on cool RP journeys. I mean, a map without all that stuff isn't going to stop me from doing it anyway...But more detail is always better.

I'd like to state my opinion on this whole scenario.
If only some people from SL had gone on to make a forum site with just such viable, fair rp. If only...
Well, it has been attempted several times actually. To my knowledge, one of the most successful was actually SLS (Shinobilegends Society).

...Ninja claiming technique that could be discovered or taught by anyone, apparently bijuu are like some sorta trading card that gets transferred left and right so many times people don't know whos the host, Having 5 elemental abilities without even having the rinnegan, the list is endless with what I've seen.
If I remember right, the SLS kind of formed when this whole bijuu stuff started out and people were trying to make things 'official' within SL. Basically, what it meant was that unless you made an account on SLS and had your character 'validated' by the people who were 'in charge of' RP, your character basically was voided out in RP. This is partially the reason why I left in the first place because things ended up being asinine as the people in charge made their characters into Gods basically, you couldn't deviate from the Naruto source, and you couldn't make your characters as strong as the people in charge.
Basically what ended up happening was there was a select few people that basically were allowed to get away with literal god-modding because 'they were that strong'. And basically, any RP that you've done prior to that point would have to be voided out if they didn't like the feel of it.
Now I won't be excluding myself from this because Teo (when I RP'd) was pretty strong. I could use basically three natures of chakra, plus I had my Stand from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. But compared to some of the stuff (that I still see going on today), Teo's a toddler. Even though I have reborns, I never considered them part of my character because I had Teo already set in mind as to what I wanted him to be.  So I just played the game like that and basically went the reclusive scientist type.

Sorry to get off on tangent, but I'm basically wanted to say that making forums based on the RP in SL could be done. But you're probably going to alienate a lot of people and it'll eventually boil down to a handful of power-hungry people circle-jerking all day long. Of course, SL is already kind of like that, but it's a larger group of power-hungry people circle-jerking around (just look at who frequents the forums and actually complains about all these things).

If you're going to bring NPCs into the SL game, then you have to be active about it. Also, no one want to fight this guy ----> http://s30.postimg.org/b55fbxdxt/madara.png
Be fair with your characters. I've been around since the beginning and I've seen plenty of people come and go. Back when there were only four jutsu to pick from, people seemed to be less powerful (even though people were bringing in DBZ stuff, FMA stuff, and a whole bunch of other universes stuff into the game. And don't let us forget the twilight uprising of 2008). And most of all, enjoy the game you're playing. If you keep voiding stuff, you'll eventually alienate yourself from everyone or vice-versa and the game won't be fun anymore. All the politics and drama sucked the fun right out for me when I left. This should be a game where more than just a handful of people play together and everyone knows who brought the Gameshark so they just stay away from that guy.
Sorry if I rambled a bit. Tired and had a few drinks. Hopefully you guys can make sense of it.

I like to think that the world's a lot bigger than the map presents it to be. It adds a lot more creativity to the RP world if you just throw the fog of war on everything beyond the map's borders. After all, it's not like more creativity/originality in a game like this that's full of sages and sharingans is a bad thing.
