Council / Re: Requesting Council Action: Nine Tails Again
« on: January 02, 2017, 04:06:12 AM »
I am replying based on the first two posts made by Athos, who is bringing this issue to the attention of the council, and Genesis who is defending the complaint of Athos.

I will read all of the comments and do my investigation of the preference post made by Genesis, then come back and comment again.

So with this as my basis of understanding, I must make this initial reply to the complaint.

taken from the pm convo between Athos and Genesis, as posted by Athos in the first post of this thread...which Genesis did not contest as being altered in his defense post:

I never said it was on Genesis. Sure I challenged Ryoji with it, but I placed on Synth weeks ago.

The bijuu was on Genesis though, not Synthesis. You can't pass it to another character when you have a pending challenger whose already challenged Genesis.

Ok Genesis....as a former Council Member one Assumes you read the rules about how Bijuu are to be handled. SO...and I will go check and see if you posted anything about the bijuu and its new host in a minute...

Let me say this:

1] Unless Genesis is dead...you cannot give the bijuu away to anyone, even yourself, when you have a challenger waiting. You can give the challenger the bijuu, but that is about it. If you forfeit the match, it goes to the challenger.

2] If Genesis is in fact dead, and you bothered to RP Synthesis getting the bijuu and taking it for himself, or even just hand waved that...which is ok according to this OOC way of doing things ...The you have to follow the rules and make a post for Synthesis. It's ok if you do not make a new account and wait for validation to prove you are not a bot and then post the thread. YOU STILL HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES FOR HOSTS AND THEIR ACTIVITIES.

In the rules you presumably were familiar with as a former Bijuu council member.

Further more....These discussions and such are supposed to be listed in that thread too. What is voided. What date did Synth become a host? Will you be taking a grace period? When does this grace period end? All these things are supposed to be listed in the preference/activity thread. I will post that section here for your reading convenience as well as link you to the entire body of current rules.
[urlhttp://forum.shinobilegends.com/index.php/topic,9118.msg215074.html#msg215074]Bijuu Rules[/url]

A host must create a thread with the name of his or her bijuu in the title to the Bijuu Arena board, and use this thread to: state his or her preference for battle, keep a list of challengers, indicate if he or she is a new host and when his or her grace period will be over, and post any notices of absence.

After arrangements have been made between the host and challenger, a post to indicate what terms have been accepted will be made to the host's thread.

The challenger and the host have 1 week to set up and begin their biju match.

The challenger list of the former host/owner is inherited by the new host/owner of a bijuu. You may still take the 14 day grace period before beginning discussions on setting up your first match even though your new bijuu comes with challengers.

3] If everything was done the way it should have been done, then Athos would be inherited as the first challenger by Synthesis as per the rules. He does not have to wait to make a challenge, however, if Synthesis would invoke the grace period, he would have to wait for the match to begin on the POSTED DATE FOUND IN YOUR PREFERENCE/ACTIVITY THREAD.

So with that being said, I shall now read the rest of this thread and investigate the board for signs of OFFICILA NOTIFICATION OF THIS OCCURENCE AS WELL AS THE DEATH OF GENESIS IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE LEGIT.

Why? Cause Athos had already made the initial challenge to Genesis prior to it being switched to Synthesis...so unless Genny is DEAD, then you must either fight Athos on Genesis or forfeit the Bijuu to him.

Let me make something perfectly clear. These rules have been posted for a very long time...and they are not here to make anyone get screwed. I can't conceive that you didn't bother to read them Genny. So the only thing I can think is you simply didn't understand them.

I would vote toward Making you face Athos on Genesis rather than just call for a stripping.

But so far, I have to say this move with Synthesis is not permitted as per the rules barring new information that I find upon further investigation.

Athos did in fact have a challenge made for the 9 tails with Genesis as the host before you gave it to Synthesis? Correct? You are not contesting that? Cause its a whole new ball game if that is not true.

As Eric said, as I said, as everyone voted it to be done, and has not been put into action yet...please.

Just each player, at the every least, keep one separate thread to put the preferences in for the beast(s) and/or alts they hold within the first post of their thread...clearly marking who has what.

Then people can communicate with the player about challenges and everything in one place without it getting lost among other people's challenges.

This also needs to be where inactivity notices are posted to verify compliance with the voted upon rules.

THIS IS NOT BEING REQUESTED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYONE NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

There is nothing wrong with realizing an old system just doesn't do the job it should in these modern times. The rules have been updated, and now in compliance with those rules, the tracking of bijuu activity is also being brought up to date.

NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS THAN JUST WHAT THESE WORDS SPECIFICALLY SAY WITHOUT HIDDEN MEANINGS ANYWHERE.

TL;DR:
not being a bitch Kamui, just want the record keeping method updated to fit the new rules. It was a simple fix for a problem in communication I saw going on.

Oh well. I was around again and posted to the above topics. It's nice to see the individual bijuu threads now. I hope that helps to keep things better organized for everyone so misunderstandings about who challenged who officially will not longer happen.

65
I a host can keep his thread straight, I am not opposed to him using one for all his characters and all his beasts. We need a place for communication between a host and challengers to occur.

I would like the host threads to be sticky. I do not see a reason for the fights which should be kept active enough to remain on the front page of the board.

but I do not see having them also be sticky as a bad thing either. As long as it works, personal preference does not matter.

Village Square / Re: Hijacking an opponents jutsu. Y/N?
« on: December 30, 2016, 05:11:53 AM »
Interesting notion. It is way OP. Still, as most things are these days I do not see how Trev having this and using it is different from another person using a different OP jutsu.

There is not a good way to moderate the use of these techs in combat other than player agreement. Which is a very good reason to speak politely and cultivate good relationships among the player base. A person is much more likely to give concessions to another if they know that in return some will be conceded right back.

There were times when I have rp'd with others and elemental control of a jutsu was taken over either by myself or my opponent. These things are easier to calculate when all the characters do not have a mastery level in everything there is to do.

You can look at over all skill. George's main element is water, Clara's is earth. She uses a suiton attack, he infused it with his own chakra and wrests control away. Naturally as someone who is more attuned to water and perhaps with stronger chakra manipulation abilities...George should be able to do this, like once? Not every time in the entire match. But it should cost too. Not just be an instant one post success.

I hope you see where I am going with this. Right now we have a system where the RPers are all opponents, rather than partners in creating a story. When you approach RP as 'me against everyone'...then naturally there is no room for compromise. Instead, it is much more enjoyable to look at anyone you engage in RP as your partner for the RP. The two of you have to collaborate and plot a little bit. What do you get out of it? Another item for your collection, or instead character progression?

For instance...what does my character need to work on in order to grow? Currently Kayenta does really care about the world, and this is a huge crisis in her story line...her persona, as a woman of passion and a general care taker. A goal to an rp with her might be, finding motivation to care and contribute to the greater good again. Who could she RP with and gain progress in that area? What would I expect to gain from the RP? What can the other player expect to gain from the RP for their character?

I would like to see SL move toward character progression and growth rather than the collecting of items and powers. More collaborative RPs where you have RP partners rather than opponents.

Does this mean fighting can't provide that? Not in the least. Kay might get her ass kicked royal in a match and be forced to confront some pretty dark issue depending on how well myself and the RP partner plot the encounter.

Council / Re: Council Member conflicts of interest (discussion)
« on: December 30, 2016, 04:48:27 AM »
As it stands, the council members were voted in. The time to object to them is over. They have the job now and will make the votes.

The only time a council member would not vote, is when they are the issue under discussion. the community placed confidence in each member to vote with an unbiased and well informed stand point being the basis of the vote they cast.

I see no reason to complicate that at this point.

Ties? Well I did not want hosts on the council to begin with, so here we are. When and if a tie occurs, the council will just have to work it out, stay in deliberations until the tie is broken. To reach a tie in a vote will just mean the job is not done yet and the work must continue.

first and foremost, as with any vote...the council must reply upon the rules and not passion when it comes to casting their vote. It's not a matter of what we think is fair and what we want or who we like.

68
Call for an edit of the rule then, because as per the discussions held when the rule was created....challenger meant the character, not the player.

As it stands, he can make challenges for other bijuu. He can host more than one beast. If he couldn't it kind of makes collection them pointless.

69
I have added a tag to the title for MOD ATTENTION

this is something they will have to correct.

Thank you. It was not too bad.

Today I stopped by and see Challenge issues. I posted a notice for all hosts to create their personal threads as is stated they are supposed to be doing in the Bijuu rules.

I posted to: 2nd Bijū Cohort Call-to-Arms! (Council Member Discussion ONLY, please)

I posted to: Council Member conflicts of interest (discussion)

And even ran turns on the site. Got me a Christmas Kyuubi. WOOO WOOO!

Bijuu Arena / Re: FYI: ALL Host and Challengers MUST comply with the RULES
« on: December 28, 2016, 09:29:19 AM »
And it is not being done by the rules.

Fix it.
The multi thread is a mess. people can not accurately update their information and take official challenges as per the rules in there.

it needs to be individual threads, just like the rules say, for a very good reason.

The catch all one needs to be done away with. Unpinned. Scrapped. we have a jink list. that is enough of a one stop place to see who has what.

72
first of all...
--> The Rule: A host must create a thread with the name of his or her bijuu in the title to the Bijuu Arena board, and use this thread to: state his or her preference for battle, keep a list of challengers, indicate if he or she is a new host and when his or her grace period will be over, and post any notices of absence.

--> The Answer: he couldn't make a valid challenge if he wanted to cause not even one host has made their personal tracker thread...as is stated in the rules.

I feel this is a huge issue. All hosts need to get on that right now.

Then only challenges made to those threads ever be honored.

like it says in the rules.

And shadow is right, he can challenge for other beasts.

================================
Now let me bring something to your attention....

Matters to be discussed:
1) Can an individual player challenge with multiple characters simultaneously?
---> The rule: There is no limit to the number of bijuu one person can own.
---> The Answer: Yes, an individual player can challenge with multiple characters simultaneously.
1a) If so, does that player then inherit the entire challenge list that comprises of their alts?
--> The Rule: The challenger list of the former host/owner is inherited by the new host/owner of a bijuu. You may still take the 14 day grace period before beginning discussions on setting up your first match even though your new bijuu comes with challengers.
--> The Answer: Yes, the challenge list is inherited if the challenger beats the existing host.

2) Does a "loss" automatically initiate the cooldown of the other player's characters if allowed to simultaneously challenge?
--> The Rule: After losing a challenge, the defeated challenger may not challenge the same host for the same beast for 3 months. However, he or she may challenge this same host for a different beast in his or her possession without waiting.
--> The Answer: Yes, each alt is subject to the cool down rule for the specific beast it was used to challege in the event of a loss.

3) Can a single character mass challenge for all the Bijū?
--> The Rule: There is no limit to the number of bijuu one person can own.
--> The Answer: Yes, a single character can mass challenge for all the Bijuu.

3a) If so, can that indidivual have more than one Bijū challenge happening at the same time?
--> The Rule: The challenger and the host have 1 week to set up and begin their biju match.
--> The Rule: During a match, hosts and challengers must make a post to the match once every 7 days.
--> The Rule: A Host or Challenger who fails to make a post to the RP match once every 7 days, without posting a notice of absence to the forum host thread in question, will forfeit the match. During this forfeit, the bijuu will either remain with the host, in the event of challenger inactivity, or be transferred to the challenger, in the event of host inactivity.

--> The Answer: The individual MUST run all the challenges at the same time due to the activity clause or forfeit the match.

All of these things do not need to be discussed. A rule already exists for each of them. the council looks at the rules, were they broken? Then we do something about it. We do not sit here and make up rules.

ok, while I feel this should be obvious...because what defendant sits on his own jury...

I feel that if formal complaint is made about a council member because of his Host/summoner duties, that he should not get to vote on the ruling, but rather be treated like any non council member host/summoner.
