How is it a given?
I bet you have no idea how much each oro kill and each dragon point in hp increases your hp limit.

Think: I would not take away permanent HP from spent oro-points. Attack etc stay, so do these hitpoints gained there.

Well, the way I see it is 1 dragon point in hp increases hp by 5 and that hp can't be taken away, so your hp limit is increased by 5.
That is my guess. I wouldn't really know since I've never used any dragon points in hp and I am not at my hp limit.

But I thought you could lose the hp gained from a dragon point.

As for how much your hp limit increases with each oro kill, I have no assumptions.
