Security Question
« on: November 04, 2007, 04:33:22 AM »

I thought of this idea in the shower xD
Anyway, I'm not sure what anyone would think of this idea, but I think it'll raise security on your account. So here it is.
If you fail to login 3 or more times before imputing the correct password you will be asked to answer a security question. The security question would function like other secuirty questions, you must answer the question to get onto the account. (The user can set the password in preferences or choose not to have one at all. )
With this in place, it'd lower the chances of "guess hacking."
It's just an idea, say what you think^_^

EDIT: I know a moderator will come along and say"They could just choose a safer password," but to that I say"Just ask Maveroni what his password was when he was guess hacked."

Yes, I heard about Yuri getting "guess hacked" and deleted, then right after I heard about you. So I just started thinking. I really would love this to be implemented, as I'm sure many others would as well.

It was a certain UchihaMurderer who admitted to doing it. I got a pm like that too. Mav's password was really hard though(I was told what it was) and there's no way anyone could just guess that.

I liked the idea, but maybe a security number. What I mean, you put your password and if it is correct, you are asked for a security number, that you can choose in the preferences, I think that this can also work, that way the hacker should have a lot of work to "guess-hack" two passwords.

Both would work...though the number would be easier than the question as there would most likely be a number limit and only so many different numbers.

8.0. The policy here is: Email Account Holder == Character Owner. There are no 'changes back'.
8.1. You are not allowed to give your password out. We won't check that, but if you do, all actions done with that account are *YOUR* actions, regardless of who sits in front of the monitor.
8.2. If somebody has the password and changes the email, he/she is the account holder. Full stop. Request for a 'rollback' will not be accepted.
8.3. If you pick an unsafe password like your first name or similar things, you, and only you are responsible for it.

Why doesn't anybody read Rule #8? Neji put it there, *Staff* didn't make these rules, it was put there since *you* the players have complained about Hacked accounts therefore a rule was created.

Yet, we get blamed for your responsibilities, that sir is not fair.  ;)

Already said, but:

a) 10 times & you get banned. that is enough.

b) security questions ... you can mail yourself a forgotten password, no?

about the rest I'll take care.
