I would use it no question if it were for DP.  Probably on all of my different characters' dwellings.  (Without self-trading DP).

With gems, maybe only one or two.

Donation points is easier for me so that ALL of my characters can do it.

Ultimately, it is not a big deal.  My gems are just so precious.

Also, I completely understand the 150x150 limitation for the exterior dwelling picture.  But I would like a bigger interior picture, even if it cost more to get it.

Also, what are the chances that we would get a discount when we "renovated" our house?  A renovation is not as expensive as the house itself, so when we change the pictures, can it be a smaller gem amount?

Just asking.
That is what I dont want happening.

Yes, I want to take your precious from you. Only then, you will value it.

Oliver once said to me that bigger isn't always better. Well, at best, 250x250.

The price should be the same. I dont want players changing their dwelling pictures once they got bored with the current onces. Then change it again when the new ones get old.

I would use it no question if it were for DP.  Probably on all of my different characters' dwellings.  (Without self-trading DP).

Bingo! Most players would just click through without waiting for the dwelling pictures to load if they were THAT common & easy to get. Sooner or later, players will stop noticing the dwelling pictures. That's bad!

But I do value my precious.  Giving them to you is not an issue.  :P

I'm not wanting bigger just for the sake of it.  I completely understand the issues with the exterior picture being bigger.  Just, if possible, I would like the interior pic to be bigger.

I would also like a bigger av (or rather, different dimensions - say 600x200), but that is another thread entirely.

If you want players changing pictures once they get board, then lower the gem price for "renovations".

Statistically speaking, if you lower the entry level price of an item and allow for changes (at a discount) you will "take" a lot more gems in the long run (people would be more likely to buy into the system and then more likely to make changes because it wouldn't be as costly - they would think they were getting a deal).

I agree with you (regarding the sadness) but it will likely get there regardless of precautions taken.  Unless it is affordable to change them, which might encourage people to see the new pictures.

By the way, not that this is an option, just -is it POSSIBLE- for the actual dwelling avatars to be purchased with gems and then renovated through Donation Points?

Again, that might not be attractive, but would it be possible?

ETC: I thought I had my dimensions reversed, but I did not.

600x200? Do you have any idea how big that is? The largest picture on SL are the country pictures, which are only 320x250. I am completely against making it bigger than 250x250.

The cost of dwelling avatars wil be gems. Don't make me repeat my reasons. But using donation points for later changes is acceptable.

Yes, I absolutely understand the dimensions of that image, and the implications.  And I'm not asking for it to be increased for free. :/

It would be a long and narrow image, at the top of the bio, that would serve as a "mini-header".  That is more of a tie in to another idea I am exploring, but again, that is for another thread (and perhaps even another avenue of conversation altogether).

I apologize if you have taken offense to my line of questioning.  I'm just exploring the breadth of the idea and what, if anything is still open for discussion.

As I've said before, I have no problems giving you my gems.

The cost for a bigger dwelling picture is not what bothers me. You should know the bigger they are, the slower they load.

It's kind of pointless to let players put a big picture on their dwelling page, as it would make having a conversation or any other activities inside the dwelling slower. Might also increase bad navs due to impatient playes clicking on the back & refresh button repeatedly when the page wouldn't load or loads too slowly.

I understand that concern.  Especially the badnav aspect.

However, for the dwelling, I was not explicitly referencing the size (in kB) of the image, but more the dimensions.

What do you mean by "areas"?

If you bought a picture would it only appply to one dwelling or all dwellings that you own?
Of course to one dwelling only.
