... you do know that basically 2/3 of our game consoles are japanese, and they'll simply stop shipping to us seeing as how it would be a waste of money...

Most of our electronic devices are made in Japan and many forgien countries.
It's cheaper on our economy to import these and sell them here for a reasonable price suitable for us *the* consumer.
