But that WILL show from the forum board that somone either Modified/Posted a comment. ;) Thats bound to alert people of a new post.

Even though I don't want to further this, you are wrong.
Double posting is the way to get the attention of someone, if the topic went dead.

On the main page of the forum, you are only allowed to see when the last POST was posted, not the edit date. To view the edit date, you have to view the topic.

Now, can we get back to the topic please?

EDIT: I think this is true.
