Stain.

It's like this thing you put over wood to make it have that dark earthy color.

I have to restore a cabinet by hand. [Take it apart, sand it down, paint it, lacquering it tomorrow, and then put it back together.]

I couldn't handle a brush with gloves on, so I just went in and painted it, so I had paint all over my arms and hands.
