It's really straight forward.

I know a few people that use it, say it's pretty good. I have this one friend that is a complete Java nut, kind of put it off it really.

It's part of my stay-up-all-night-get-something-accomplished-sleep-through-the-day-to-avoid-my-family-as-much-as-possible thing.

I've been running my laptop on battery since 9 pm. It's now 3:41.

I've gone through the entire coding intrustional, watching a 2 hour movie in HD at full brightness, went on 4Chan and read through the new Pokemon rap thread as well as the newer vidya and some /b/ stuff, and just watched an episode on Breaking Bad in HD as well.

Can I learn in a day?

Java basics are something I managed to get through in a matter of a couple of hours. Understanding and being able to actually do it without help on the other hand, is another story. I'm planning on redoing the instructional, maybe looking at something more advanced, and talking to my Comp Sci major friends who learned Java last semester and see what I can do with it to get proficient with it.

9% low battery warning just popped up, 45 minutes left. I love my laptop.

I basically learnt PHP in a day, but then again it was my second or third programming language, and I'm reasonably good at programming on top of them, I have a mind that works like a computer.

Plus, LotGD coding is almost like it's own language, and you never make something from scratch, you just build on basic modules.

Just did a quick google search, and this seemed to be a reliable one. Just want a double check.

I'm looking into C++ as well. Maybe HTML instead. I've got Adobe Dreamweaver, since it came from from my University as part of their deal with Adobe. I've got the Adobe Design Premium CS5.5, which is almost their entire suite of products.

C++ is alright... but it's a complier language... and HTML is just plain useless, it doesn't DO anything, just makes web pages look nice.

I still need to learn how to run Ubuntu from the terminal properly.

It's harder to find good tutorials and whatnot. I don't plan on being a heavy user, since I'm more entertainment and homework at the moment as far as use of my laptop goes, but I still want to be able to do things without googling things beyond "sudo apt-get install..." or "rm -rf..."

I did learn how to use general Linux command line, but I never used it, so I forgot everything.

It's actually not that hard.

You generally just put in "sudo" and then whatever it is you need. Not always, but that's pretty much it. I've watched some of the hardcore stuff, and watched a few people do Suicide Linux.

Basically, if you input even one wrong character into the terminal [since they're fairly forgiving in normal modes and just don't accept the incorrect commands], all your memory is erased.
