Hmm, I need to find something of my country's traditional things..

I had forgotten that even my country has a traditional musical instrument:

O.O  That looks cool!  It reminds me of the koto (another Japanese instrument).  Totally different size and techniques, but uh... they both have strings? xD

Techniques as in the way they are played. But then again, that seems obvious because no two instruments are the same! :D  Well, maybe except violin and viola. >.>;;

I've played violin, viola, vibraphone, xylophone, marimba, chimes, bells, timpani, PERCUSSION! :D :D :D  Meh, most of those are just derivatives of each other so it's mostly just a difference in sound.  But I'm getting off topic. Aaaah I love music. ^_^

They seem to be played quite similar..
What's the difference between these two? (I'm not strong at musical instruments.. I even don't know the names of most in Latvian (even of those that I know in Russian @_@))
