The only other things on those routes are Pidgey, Spearow, and Nidorans.

You'll be lucky if you get anything better on your first go. But honestly, you won't be able to get any water pokaymanz for a while, and when you do get a rod, you'll waste your chance at a better pokaymanz if you're going to get a Magikarp... Just wait til you get a Super Rod.

Yeah, but it takes too long to get one.

And you're actually more likely to get a Nidoqueen in Leaf Green. Nidoran[Female] is the more common one, and is the one that shows up on Route 3.

Still good. At it's easy because you get a Moon Stone inside Mount Moon and Nidoran evolves in the low 20s.

Just checked, there are no really good moves unless you want Bite at 22. I'd just evolve it straight away.
