I don't fully get the powers that are being used here. In fact, I am all out baffled. Not to mention I am annoyed that Obito was stupid enough to get Sakura to try to gouge out his eye.

Come on.  He should have known how that would work out when he saw Sakura's "attempt" at killing Sasuke.

I noticed that took he did that with his Rinnegan and now with Kakashi's Sharingan lke he is some sort of super amazing eye surgeon.

If you want a shorter explanation of what's been happening:

Sasuke somehow dodges Madara's Yin Release technique without moving. But Madara deducts that it's something greater/worse. Most-likely an Infinite Izanagi being used with Sasuke's fancy new Rinnegan. It's also revealed that Limbo is an invisible world where he can spawn a clone/shadow of himself in to attack/defend without notice. Sasuke can see it with his Rinnegan, Naruto can't see it but can sense it somewhat.

Also, Shukaku can apparently grant Magnet Release. +1 for whoever has it, as Shukaku has some usefulness now.

Too be fair Madara did have Hashirama's no hands medical ninjutsu that was like Tsunade's regeneration. So he probably really could just stick an eye in and have the nerve reattach and shiz.

Shukaku allowed you to manipulate sand I believe. That was a bit of a boost wouldn't you say?
