Does a Host Inherit the Challenger List? (Discussion)
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:10:19 PM »

The question is should inheriting the challenger list be made a concrete rule. I feel most people do it but technically it is not required right now.

If you gain a bijuu should you inherit the challenger list or should people have to challenge you from scratch? Should the circumstances in which you gained the beast (defeated a host in a challenge, given the beast IC or OOC) effect this?

I think the easiest way to do it is that you do inherit the challenger list, but you get to message the people on it and double check if they still want to challenge for the beast now that there is a new owner.

I want challenger lists to be inherited in order to keep waiting times for a turn to challenge down to a minimum.

Does inheritance also keep track of previous challengers on cool down from challenging again?

That depends are you on cool down for challenging that particular bijuu or the person that was hosting it?

That depends are you on cool down for challenging that particular bijuu or the person that was hosting it?

That kind of varies:

1) If the host was still in the grace period, you're on cooldown with the host. Therefore if someone else were to be given the beast during that time period the new host would get a cooldown reset. In that case, the inherited list would be from challengers who were waiting on the grace period to end (presuming you can challenge during a grace period. Pretty sure you can though).

2) If the person is on cooldown for biju related activities in general (misconduct, breaking rules, etc.), then I don't think they would be on the challenger list at all, so they would have to start from the bottom of the barrel anyways.

3) If the beast is awarded by the Council and there were challengers who were waiting to challenge for the beast again, it would be considered on cool down for the beast and not the at that point stripped challenger.

In most cases though, it would be easier to say that the person is on cooldown from challenging the beast, since the beasts themselves do not change much, but the champions can/do.

Host puts the end of the cool down dates after finishing a fight? Better way to keep track of it if the list is passed on.

let's not confuse terminology here.
'cool down' is for the break a host takes between matches if they wish to.

the '3 month waiting period' is to keep the challenger from turning right around after a match and challenging the same host for the same beast. This rule's purpose serves to send the challenger away and stop pestering the host, presumably to go train and get better. Back then hosts only had one bijuu. These days, for a different bijuu but same host, you could have a different set of skills to face, so the chance of beating them exists right away, where as after just beating them on a certain bijuu does not have much chance of producing a different result right away. therefore:
if any variable is different, new bijuu or new host, this waiting period really should not apply. Think about it, the new host might suck or not have the same tail mastery. A different bijuu would be a summons, right? so he is not on good terms with the summoner. A different character and different bijuu have totally different power sets in play, and maybe the challenger has the advantage now.

a 'ban' is for misconduct.
