So to clarify...

If a vote is being stalled because a member is inactive...five votes being required to settle an issue...can Trev be called in to vote in place of the inactive member?

His role would be to serve as a fill-in council member on an as needed basis upon request of the other council members.

Why Trev in particular? I'm not against having a tiebreaker and fill-in, but why Trev in particular?

I am against ties...that is why the odd number of voters.
so if one of you fails in his duty...i put up the name of the only other person on the site to volunteer.
it's really just that simple.

That's a good point too. If someone is inactive he can be the fifth vote so there cannot be a tie.

Quick side bar discussion, feel free to PM me or post briefly here, after how many days of inactivity will a council member be removed?

Of course, I am sure all of you already decided on that-- would be completely ridiculous and silly if you did not. I simply wanted to refresh my memory. =)

Council rules were never fully fleshed out and still in their infancy. That is why they are so plain and simple compared to everything else?

You all are seriously jumping the gun.
Treat this as the Supreme Court, in my opinion.

No offense to Trev, I will say this regardless of who ever is "nominated" by one person, in this case Kay. No, you will not be the alternate biguu council member.

Make guidelines as to what inactivity means, which you have not done.
Kay, by having this topic you then need to have guidelines place upon Trev, which you have not done.

This is absurd, I'll be very blunt. And again, I would say this no matter who the "substitute" is.

You're making this more complicated.
I.e. If a council member is inactive, REMOVE THEM. If there are council votes that are 2/2, so be it! Until that inactive council member is replaced, you should have to deal with it. Again, Supreme Court.

I will not support this this, nor any similar type of topic. Feel free to overrule me, but do not expect any help when this goes down the drain. I have made my objection clear, with facts. ;)

It's kind of hard to know when talking is bad...and go out and do is the right thing...
and when the reverse is true.

I am not comfortable with this at all now.

Maybe we did jump the gun a bit.

Let'S take step for step then.

II think we said a discussion and voting takes 7 days?

We could say that if the Council member says they are inactive in the 7 days, that someone may voltuneer to step in as fill in. Given they fullfill the requirements to be on the Council, in the first place.

Another scenario is that, if the 7 days go  and the over and we only have 4 of 5 votes, that we will ask for a fill in. Furthermore this means that one was missing without clarification, this person in question will be noted for the future. Then the diiscussion will be resumed, cause who knows maybe another descision is possible and then the voting is held once more.

Afterwards we check how active everyone of us was, maybe if inactivity during voting got overhand, punishment for the council member in question will be in order?

Just an idea.

Ok.

so rather than who...and it seems should the need arrive Trev is a likely candidate to call upon for permanent replacement or whatever gets decided.

There is a thread already made concerning council member inactivity so...

I am locking this one and we can work on how to do things, rather than who is going to do them.
