i'd say, like 1000 gold for treehouse, 5000 for cityhouse, 10000 gold for castle.

Cityhouses are fine as it is and so are the Castle...they were meant to be *not* cheap.
Mansions and Manors are not cheap in real life are they? 
The whole item storing has been discussed but do you want to only carry only 10 items at a time a discard another item that you gain to make room for more?
The coffer limits are restricted by your *own* Global limit as well.

Yeah, I agree castles and cityhouses should not be cheap.....But as you go up treehouse>cityhouse>castle... They do get better so it's worth all the gold and gems
