I just realized the maga and anime are completely different in a lot of things. Is the manga still going. I really like the anime but the manga seems alot more in depth. I mean, sloth in the anime is a woman but in the manga he's a giant guy! This is terrible, now I have to read the manga too. Just not enough hours in a lifetime.

Well, yeah, I mean at one point the anime had caught up to the manga, which left the anime director with three options:
1. To create filler eps (Ugh, that would have been awful)
2. To take the show off the air temporarily (which would prove troublesome, because then they would have to wait for the anime that replaced it to go off the air to put it back up).
3. To go in a different direction than the manga.
Obviously, he chose #3, which ended up working really well…
I'm also buying the manga, and from what I know, it is still being released in Japan.

I've never read the manga but back when I have satelite tv (haven't paid bill in 5 months ><) I watched FMA on adult swim. Seeing as  I started the story a little late and didn't get past the part where ed and al faced the prison robot guys I never got to see the full story but the art was beautiful and the story was so dramatic.
