really? well I suppose it is a matter of perspective, I guess you see it as Kakashi originally had Chidori and it became Raikiri, I see it as Kakashi was the original and taught Sasuke Chidori, so I suppose it is a pointless argument.

We cannot say for sure if Raikiri is upgraded from chidori or if chidori is downgraded from Raikiri, but we can agree that Raikiri is far stronger than chidori.

Raikiri was the move Kakashi created when he was in Yondaime's squad as a Chuunin/Jounin leader. Chidori was Sasuke's adaptation of the technique. Two different moves, same principle and idea.

Kakashi formed a Chidori when he tried to make a Rasengan...Over time he perfected his Chidori enough so to cut lightning thus becoming raikiri.
