What are the requirements for a character to be Smash Bros?

O_O not anymore really since they are bringing in 3rd party charaters *cough* Sonic and snake*cough* *cough*

they can basicly put anyone they want in it now if they have the premission of the owners of the charater

snake is a *cough* nintendo based *cough* CHARACTER  thee original solid snake for Nintendo

and sonic even tho sega some games were on the gamecube and n64 AND  oh wait i think their is a game that just came out for the wii oh yes the OLYMPIC ONE

as long as it has ever been on a nintendo system it can be on there... ever... even if it was a cameo, still it can be in

O_O where does it state they HAD to be on a Nintendo system? They are characters own by 3rd party developers that means they are never really connected any system go look it up. nintendo only needs to negotiate for premission from the third-party  developers then they get all rights to use the character in the game.

None but it was said they did try negotiating with other 3rd party developers other then Sega and Konami if you didn't know

Ok yes the first two games only had Nintendo Character's(First Party and Second party) but if you read Brawl is the first to have 3rd party character and they are not tied to any systems

lol Do you not understand what 3rd party means? They aren't tied to nintendo really they aren't tied to anything, yes Sonic and Snake may have been on a Nintendo system befor but that doesn't mean they HAD to be on one to get into Brawl

Snake is in Brawl because Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima "practically begged" for Snake to be included in a smash game for years, Sonic is the game because he was The most requested third-party character on on Nintendo's official forums and nintendo  made a deal with Saga for him to be in it
