Train mounts?
« on: May 16, 2008, 04:31:40 AM »

Instead of having set mount stats/buffs/ff ect. why not be able to train the mounts? For example, all mounts start at level one with basic buffs ect. and you can train them up to be better? And the level you can train the mount up to, is based on the mount

for example,

Gamakichi can be trained to level 5
while Gamabunta can be trained to level 20 (example)?

And the mounts get better with each level? It might make the game more interesting.

I think this is a good idea to go with the new mount system.

Neji would probably think we want more power for our mount buffs :-?

Think of it this way.

We start off as with the mounts weaker, then slowly, they are able to become stronger if we chose.

Exactly. And Im not asking for more power, i am saying, the way we get mounts is too overpowered. Why not have to train them to be as strong as they should be?

Which is what Neji tried to do with the specialties & look what happened? Players complaint & voted the old specialty system back.

I looked back, and he never said that the specilities would be able to become stronger in the new system than in the old system, or if he did, he didn't make it clear.
People noticed that their justus got a lot weaker, and complained about that.
However, he probably should've at least touched on the fact that they could've been stronger.
Besides, he has been thinking of messing with the mount system for a while.

I remember reading that they could become stronger, but you would have to dump your stats into the stat that you used to unlock the jutsus

I think if something like this is done, he should wait a longer period of time before taking a vote, in order to let people get used to it.
That's what i think happened with the specialties. He took a vote before it had time to set in.

I dont see what this has to do with specialties. Plus, if the mounts were to go into my idea, than of course people would complain because theyed have to work to become better. Society is lazy, and if they were to want to make the game better, they would and should be able to train their mounts, as that adds some twists and turns to the game. For example, monopoly was made more fun by the "chance" cards. how fun would monopoly be without them? I believe the same logic applies here

Due to other circumstances I was forced to take that vote now.

There was a whole bunch of development attached to it, and as I was pressed to do something in other matters I wanted it resolved.

I was aware that most would want simple power instead of more specialization. =)

Yes, but if they got to specialize their mount, it would make the game more fun. Eventually, the complaints (if any) would die down as they realize specialization is more fun. Plus, having power instantly doesnt happen in real life, nor should it happen in a role play.

So you disagree with the statment of "people just want power to make things easy"? When the truth is, the harder way out may truly be a better way?
